10 Amazing URLs with Sites that Suck
nowpublic.com — Most URLs give you exactly what you think they will. Money.com takes you to CNN's Money page. If you're looking for a car, go to Cars.com. Then there are the ones that suck -- those complete wastes of excellent domain names that take you to a blank page (or even worse). Here are some URLs that SHOULD be something. They just aren't.

- oboy, on 05/16/2008, -1/+17Whatever you thought you would find at Hot.com, you're almost definitely wrong. A hint: congressman, presidential candidate, aliens.
- dtfranco, on 05/16/2008, -1/+4hot.com was definetely my fav.
- reflex768, on 05/16/2008, -0/+6Painful. Like watching a man wrapping cheap, poorly selling trinkets in shredded Berkshire Hathaway stock.
- fkr3, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2I'd hardly say it was painful but the title should have been "7 parked domains and 3 squatters were too slow to get".
- icculus87, on 05/16/2008, -0/+4My favorite is theeconomist.com; it is just a picture of Alan Greenspan.
- bossm4n, on 05/16/2008, -0/+10sex.com should be on that list. What a waste and a disaster.
- Palscience1, on 05/16/2008, -0/+6I like the Obama one,
- DiggLive, on 05/16/2008, -4/+8Awww, I miss Dennis Kucinich :'( He was my favorite candidate and I wish he would've won.
- 404NF, on 05/16/2008, -1/+1The link seems to be down:
NOWPUBLIC IS OFFLINE FOR SOME SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE
IN THE MEANTIME CHECKOUT OUR BLOG FOR UPDATES - abhilash, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1Story was up for me. I thought the girl on guns.com is pretty fantastic. I don't know about 6 or 7-figures fantastic, but pretty cool for about half a second.
- 404NF, on 05/16/2008, -0/+0yep, now it's back
- andredeen, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2Anybody tried bush.com?
- anarchytv, on 05/17/2008, -1/+1Afraid I should be on the list... I picked up two awesome linux domains http://shellprompt.com">http://shellprompt.com and
- BuzzDiggity, on 05/17/2008, -0/+5whitehouse.com used to be something pretty naughty...
- chkdg8, on 05/17/2008, -1/+1***** THING SUCKS!
- Games4Life, on 05/17/2008, -0/+3My question is, who actually is stupid enough to click the links on the ad sites?
- Nhmarine, on 05/17/2008, -0/+1I have found in my experience with the internet that all sites that have one word in the URL like "cool.com" or "websites.com" is usually the most annoying, reprehensible and most boring site on our small spider web, so not only is this article a complete waste of everybody's time, but if you are an idiot enough to think that "websites.com" or "television.com" will actually have some form of content that is worthwhile you should win the Darwin Award, because you are going to die of your stupidity sooner or later.
- greytfriend, on 05/17/2008, -0/+2This article was totally worth it for the last item, hot.com. But I'm a long-time Clevelander, so maybe it's too much of an inside joke. Gotta love the guy, sort of.
- lschofield, on 05/18/2008, -0/+1People that had the sense to buy those names don't have to do anything with them, they're automatic traffic machines. That, or an investment waiting for someone with bucks to buy them.
- treelovinhippie, on 05/17/2008, -0/+1ninja.com
- the13thzen, on 05/17/2008, -0/+1I really wish pages like these could be taken out of the hands of soul-less robots and be granted to real people with a real purpose.

MrBabyMan.com 6,118,898 - davidseigle, on 05/17/2008, -0/+0My guess is the people who own these sites were hoping someone would be willing to pay good money for the name. Well all but the hot.com one that just makes no sense at all.
- andrewglover87, on 05/17/2008, -1/+24 of the links don't even go to the website in question. Well done to whoever created this article.

Type In Traffic - lschofield, on 05/18/2008, -1/+3Dennis Kucinich is a clever guy. How much would hot.com be worth? I wouldn't mind owning it! PS - I wish he was in the race - my dream ticket would have him as VP, but I doubt that'll happen, the guy is too down-to-earth and sensible.
