- blahtastic, on 10/11/2007, -0/+29Are puzzle games like the default indie developer project? Like if you're having developers block, you only need to think, what can I do to Tetris/Bejeweled/Yoshi's Cookie to make it different this time?
Anyway, I'm happy to hear any news about the Wii Ware project, so I'll quit whining.- xerus, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Puzzle games are usually the lowest budget titles to produce. You dont really expect indie start ups to go out and make a multi-million dollar epic first person shooter do you?
- blahtastic, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5No...a platformer would be handy though...Side scrolling shooter perhaps... Even a low graphical quality FPS if you must go that route ...FP-FS, a shooter based inside a computer, made by some digipen students is free for download at http://www.digipen.edu/main/Gallery_Games_2005#FPFS , but if that was cleaned up , implemented wiimote aiming, and given a bit better of a storyline I'd be willing to pay 15-20 bucks for it.
Alien Hominid...Geometry wars...Plasma pong...there are lots of good games that aren't multi million dollar affairs.- postenl, on 10/11/2007, -5/+0...
- grumbel, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Look back at the Amiga and C64, they didn't have big budget or large teams back then either, yet they still didn't limit themselves to puzzle games, instead you got tons nice sidescrollers, jump'n runs, shoot'em ups, stratagie games and all that stuff. You of course also got puzzle game here and there, but those where just one genre of many.
- HolyChimp, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Aegis Wing is another low budget game that was good despite being none-puzzly in nature..
- Tippis, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4No, the first thng you do before creating a multi-million dollar shooter is to make a pinball game...
Just ask Epic and DICE ;)

- xerus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Well, ignore my last comment, because these guys look like they aren't even indie developers... as they have a number of DS projects in the works, and are official Nintendo developers.
- blahtastic, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Oh...yeah that makes mine off topic too. That's what I get for assuming.
- darkmule, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Puzzle Quest?

- UnitedAssault, on 10/11/2007, -12/+3With the Wiimote, anything is innovative!
That's a fact. - zenstrom, on 10/11/2007, -4/+9"According to Bplus, however, they are an official Nintendo developer"
So much for "indie" development. This announcement just makes it seem as if WiiWare is going to give you games from smaller, pre-established, Nintendo-approved companies, something I've been worried about since I heard about it. I was really hoping that any garage dev would be able to develop fun, innovative games for the Wii but I have a feeling we're going to be seeing a lot of subpar "cellphone game" style releases instead.
Please prove me wrong, Nintendo.- redlemon, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11i swear.. videogames are nothing to worry about.
- HolyChimp, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10At least you don't need to worry about crappy retro remixes, since the Wii has a different system for the old games.
If I see one more version of Pacman on Live Arcade I'll... well, continue to not buy them I suppose. - MCHampster, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4In order to get the SDK to develop either a retail or online title, you have to be a licensed Nintendo developer. Check out http://www.warioworld.com/ for more information on how to become an "official" developer.
None of this should have been a surprise for anyone. - rpgguy1o1, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1check out the site
it looks pretty damn indie to me heh
- Bleekster, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Good news. Will be interesting to see what titles/genres will follow.
- Victor0Zhai, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Has any pricing been announced?
how about the control scheme?- Paroparo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Nothing so far. Probably something at E3, considering how insanely awesome Nintendo's show was last year.
- usha49, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3wonderful. I will be looking forward to it.
- WanderLink, on 10/11/2007, -10/+2Once again, I hate you NOA. I hate you and I'd like to shove a Wiimote up Reggie's ass. Iwata too; I want a Club Nintendo!

- gcraick, on 10/11/2007, -4/+6hardly an 'exclusive'.. haha. My site, and no doubt many others received exactly the same press release..

- ninephoenixes, on 10/11/2007, -3/+6Heh, "Exclusive."

- stalax, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3Before too much doom and gloom hits this announcement, might I point out that as an official developer they probably had a nice headstart on development over other, more 'indie' devs.
- mightyzug, on 10/11/2007, -11/+1wii sucks anyway, biggest waste of money i have ever had
- BlackMask, on 10/11/2007, -12/+2we the rich nextgen ps3 and xbox owners feel sorry for your ass lol
- McTendo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2What a pathetic attempt at trolling.

- deadbydawn, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2with this new channel does it mean their going to release a HDD or are we going to end up buying lots of SD card to fit everything?
- TomRemixed, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1The games are very small. People really haven't had trouble with the virtual console yet.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Some people have already run out of space.

- missingnoh4x, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Weren't Everybody Votes and Opera part of the Wii Ware section of the shop? Though I'm glad to see the announcement of some actual games finally.
Now if we can get Nintendo to make good on their promise of downloadable free demos of Wii games...- Eevee1, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0No, they were in Wii Software, WiiWare will probably be downloaded from Wii Software in the shop.
- noxide, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0"Now if we can get Nintendo to make good on their promise of downloadable free demos of Wii games..." Don't think that is going to happen any time soon... Nintendo has always played stingy with console demos for some weird reason...
- jimmy87lee, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3What I'd like to see is a Wii Ware that plays DVD movies... (For non-modded Wiis of cource)
- AzraelKans, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Wow! now I can have more CASUAL GAMES! if theres something we all need for the Wii is more low value CASUAL GAMES! at full price none the less! thats exactly why i bought the console for!
