- Smwbigboss, on 01/04/2008, -1/+109It would help if they advertised this game. Most people probably never even heard of this game. You can't expect everyone to sit around and read game reviews on IGN all day.
- Braingoo, on 01/04/2008, -5/+55if you are buying games based on their ratings you sir are an idiot.
- KnockoutNerd, on 01/04/2008, -1/+32Past experiences (The whole Gamecube life) has thought me one thing, Nintendo makes up about 95% of the good games on their consoles. If a good 3rd party game was to come out and it grabbed my attention I would buy it. The only 3rd party tittle I'm looking forward to right now is No More Heros and that's really it. But most the time I will just get the Marios and Zelda, heck right now I have 3 games for my wii, SMG, Zelda and MP3 and soon Brawl.
- facelesscoward, on 01/04/2008, -0/+31Sorry, it's hard to find good stuff in all of the complete watered-down ***** third parties are pouring out of their asses.
- corcad, on 01/04/2008, -6/+35I played it and I loved. Capcom did a good job bringing back the old-school point and click genre back to life. These 3rd party titles are few and far between and Nintendo is generally responsible for the blockbusters.
Nintendo can't be responsible for all the top AAA titles in order for the Wii to be more than a gimmick. Hopefully 2008 has more quality than quantity. - daftfunk1, on 01/04/2008, -5/+34You are stupid. You will only play games with an M rating and the fact that you say they are the only ones worth playing is very sad.
- motang, on 01/04/2008, -3/+29"Have you played Zack and Wiki on the Wii?" Yes, I have a copy, and it is one damn fun game.
- nights0223, on 01/04/2008, -4/+22Kids these days just have no attention span.
- alexforcefive, on 01/04/2008, -0/+18Zack and wiki isn't out in the uk yet, you guilt tripping bastards
- nerdtron, on 01/04/2008, -1/+18"you failed the Wii"? you realize that the Wii is a product that is supposed to serve YOU right? I don't understand why people feel the need to take a personal stake in inanimate things.
- Yodzilla, on 01/04/2008, -0/+16The only people that failed the Wii are the terrible developers making horrible games for it.
- Smwbigboss, on 01/04/2008, -5/+20Manhunt 2 is gut-wrenching and gory, but it sucks.
Metroid Prime 3 is one of the best FPS I've ever played, but there's no gore.
Resident Evil 4 is gut-wrenching, gory and good, but it's a remake of an old Gamecube game.
If all you care about is gore and the M ranking, then go ahead and get Manhunt 2. But if you're over 13, you'd be better off getting Metroid Prime 3. - razmig, on 01/04/2008, -3/+18I think part of the reason nintendo has such ***** support/3rd part games is the fact that a development kit is so inexpensive in comparison to other systems on the market, which make it a hell of a lot easier for people to make games like "chicken shoot" and "carnival games". I actually got really bummed when I looked at the upcoming games list, which included "Rig Racer 2" and "Classic British Racing", both horrible looking games.
so...
Dear Nintendo, make your Seal of Approval actually mean something again. - linuxrocks2007, on 01/04/2008, -3/+18Somebody`s mad for not being able to finish the game.
- BlueSkyfish, on 01/04/2008, -5/+19That's ***** reasoning. The Wii is a console, a computer, it's not made for any demographic. There are Disney/Hasbro/Mattel games on every system. It's called shovelware and you're not supposed to buy it. The Wii just has a larger concentration because it is Wii's are selling like crazy. We saw the same thing with the PS2 last generation. Don't base a console on it's shovelware. There are plenty of games for all demographics that are out right now, you might want to go to gamestop and actually look.
- exomni, on 01/04/2008, -2/+151. I bought Zack and Wiki
2. No chance in hell am I buying most of my games within the first two weeks unless I get a kickass sale. They can lower the price, or they can ***** off.
3. It's Nintendo's job to court third parties. Either Nintendo fails the Wii, or they do a good job. There are plenty of other companies doing a fantastic job of courting third parties (see the Xbox 360), if Nintendo can't do it, fine with me, I have plenty of other systems to spend money on games for. I don't need to justify my purchase by ardently "supporting" a ***** game console. - grumbel, on 01/04/2008, -2/+14Yes, there is a tiny bit of delay on IR sensing, but it so damn small that its barely noticeable if at all. I could understand why a 120fps pro-gamer might be annoyed by this, but a analog-stick console FPS gamer? Now I am not claiming that the Wiimote is vastly superior for FPS, it has its pros and cons, but it certainly works equally well if not better then analog stick in most situations.
- se1zure, on 01/04/2008, -1/+10I love how even when there is something negative about the wii, its not the wii's fault, it's every single wii owners fault.
I own a wii, and I am contemplating selling it at the moment. There really is no appealing game for me. I'm not all about first person shooters, but it seems, while the wii is innovative, there is no game that is innovative. There is no reason portal, for example, couldn't have been made well for the wii, as portal isn't about graphics, but puzzle solving.
i'll keep my wii until brawl, but if thats a flop, then there really is no point in keeping it for me. - Linh, on 01/04/2008, -4/+13have you played metroid prime 3? It makes FPS on the console fun. I can't stand dual analog sticks.
- latova, on 01/04/2008, -1/+10Play a different kind of game for once in your life. Gaming != FPS.
- latova, on 01/04/2008, -0/+9The lag must be in your brain or something but the reaction time is virtually the same with Pc and Wii, its just a flick of a wrist - while many games on the 360 have autoaim to help you with that reaction time.
- bouncyman, on 01/04/2008, -0/+8How about $40? That's the retail price of the game
- samfishercell, on 01/04/2008, -2/+10Cool grab Halo 3, it's an M rated game and I hear you can have tons of fun playing online with a bunch of foul-mouthed 13 year old boys who constantly call each other 'gay'.
- funkytaco, on 01/04/2008, -0/+8I failed nobody. They failed themselves. They obviously don't know how to promote a product. Besides that, they made the official website in slow loading flash which no text, so the Page Rank is 3. Hell, I have a Page Rank of 5 for my site (linked in profile).
Sheesh. They failed themselves. Dont' wag your preachy finger at consumers. - Zap2, on 01/04/2008, -0/+8well the simply solution is to not buy those games!
- cwilson, on 01/04/2008, -1/+9It's pretty unfortunate that more people didn't buy Zack & Wiki. It's even more unfortunate that more people never even heard of the game. This wasn't marketed at all. How is it supposed to sell? I bought it on New Years Eve and had it in my jacket pocket on the way home. When I got to a friend's house that night for a New Years party I realized I still had it. I pulled it out and nobody had a clue what it was. Even the host, who had a Wii (the party revolved around the Wii, btw), never even heard of the game. He's probably ten times the Wii fan I am.
Don't blame the gamers for this one. People don't buy things they know nothing about. - LeeSoong, on 01/04/2008, -1/+9Best New Game for the Wii:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlqLLZQLNiA - opnickc, on 01/04/2008, -0/+8"Don't let the cell shading or the 'E for Everybody' rating fool you, this game is not for the young ones."
If your target audience has to worry about being fooled into thinking the game is not for them; you have severely messed up your marketing. - FriedTurkey, on 01/04/2008, -0/+7Yeah Zack and Wiki is a great game. I am almost finished with it. It really improves on the adventure game format. The whole hint system is great for someone who abandoned like 10 adventure games in the 90's because I got stuck.
The marketing was horrible. The box art is a joke and why does it include a magnetic puzzle in it? Why wasn't that money spent on better things? I got it for $40 bucks so the lowered price was a good thing. - carpespasm, on 01/04/2008, -0/+7damn, that would be the best thing ever if they made a longer version of portal for the wii, the controls would work wonderfully with it.
- Chucara, on 01/04/2008, -6/+13Zack and Wiki is a good game, but it is not as good as it is hyped up to be.. It's a decent adventure, but the only reason it is even worth considering is the complete lack of adventure games these days. I don't get why the Wii is selling so well.. The controllers are a very good idea, but as long as there isn't a game for the console I would rate higher than a 7 of 10, it's not going to last. It really is a problem that Nintendo makes all the "good" games for the Wii, seeing as Nintendo (aside from the Wii controllers) haven't had an original idea since 1984. I sick of Super Mario, Zelda and all your other mascots. Someone please make an immersive game for the Wii.. Something that actually targets adults, and isn't just a reheat of an Xbox360 game.
- ryllharu, on 01/04/2008, -0/+6Definitely the truth, and dugg. I own Zack and Wiki, but to be perfectly honest, I have absolutely no idea how I heard about it in the first place.
The biggest mistake Nintendo is making is not backing their 3rd Party Developers with advertising money. Sure, that may not be Nintendo's job, but the other two consoles are doing a much better job at it so far. 1st party titles are the only ads I ever seem to see from Nintendo. - qbproger, on 01/04/2008, -1/+7i have zack and wiki. It's a great game... talked a friend into buying it too. He plays it with his gf.
- Gop3588, on 01/04/2008, -0/+6I agree that Nintendo always makes the best games for their consoles, but I think the Wii needs solid 3rd party support. Mario and Zelda games are fun and everything, but they get boring after a while when you have no other good games to play. It's been well over a year since the Wii came out; don't you think it's bad that despite the high console sales, there have only been 3 games you've found worthy of buying?
- akatsuki, on 01/04/2008, -0/+6Z&W was fun but often just irritating and cheap. Nintendo should get off their asses and get some good 3rd party titles.
- grumbel, on 01/04/2008, -0/+6This is about the Wii not about the XBox360 and in terms of software prices the Wii is continuing Nintendos trend to make games *cheaper* not more expensive with a new generation. I bought both Mario Galaxy and Metroid for 45EUR, I can preorder Zack&Wiki for 40EUR and buy Endless Ocean for 28EUR, all brand new straight from Amazon. I can't remember ever buying a new Gamecube game for less then 50EUR, most games where 50-60EUR back then.
- staticneuron, on 01/04/2008, -0/+6I second that. I am sorry but what I hear is just whining really. People aren't going to buy a game that doesn't seem appealing. I would say the majority of gamers are hesitant to take such risks. Thats why there has been such big business with review magazines and websites. I remember I got my first gamepro in 89. I think it had a ninja turtle on the cover.
All in all I think its a horrible Idea to buy third party games just based off of the idea that they might just disappear if you do not show certain titles support. The publishers know better than that. I pity people who thing buying shovelware on the Wii (or any system) and people who purchase the poor ports on the PS3.
NO! it is not ok just to hand some money over unless I am enjoying what I am paying for. I was able to play Zak and wiki. Just as all the media I have seen before proved i didn't like the game. It's not that the game is bad, it is just not suited for my tastes. So no, I didn't fail my Wii because I am not servicing my Wii. My Wii is there to give "ME" enjoyment. The next time I see a game that appeals to me I will buy it or at least rent it. - Bulletbillx, on 01/04/2008, -0/+5The Wii is second only to KB/M for FPS control. MP: 3 and MOH 2: Heroes prove this.
- Leminnes, on 01/04/2008, -0/+5As I said on the original site (but is still being reviewed for posting or whatever,) I work at a gamestop and I push Zack and Wiki all the time. See, what people don't seem to realize is, sure, games need to be easier for kids but console games are generally played at home with the kid's parents. I think what Capcom was trying to go for with Z&W is a kid friendly game that parents can play as well.
Not to say I'm not absolutely sure about that but often at gamestop I talk with parents and show them Z&W and I tell them "I'm sure your kid will love the look of this game but I will warn you, it is hard so they will need help." And very often, they buy it anyway saying anything from "Good, I like my kid to be challenged" to "Oh, I'll just help them." It's strangely pretty easy to sell Z&W mostly for it's kiddy look.
Another bad thing about Z&W is its name. And no, I'm not talking about it's lameness but actually that it starts with a "Z." Most gamestops I know, and walmarts as well, put their games in Alphabetical order so Z&W would be at the bottom where NO ONE sees it. So it never gets anyone's attention. That's why it takes faithful employees to point out good games to their customers and push them away from the Spongebob game just because their kid likes Spongebob. See, I loved Dexter's Lab when I was little but I NEVER played the games, I played games like Banjo and Kazooie and loved those just as much. Kids don't always need to play their favorite characters, despite their parents insistence on it.
Just for reference, this is my top games for any person buying games for the Wii:
1. Zak and Wiki
2. Super Mario Galaxy
3. Metroid Prime 3
4. Geometry Wars
5. Both Trauma Centers
6. RE4
7. Twilight Princess
8. Super Paper Mario
9. Wario Ware
10. Raving Rabbids 1 - weareattack, on 01/04/2008, -2/+7how about Capcom's marketing dept. failed Zack and Wiki? The title and packaging makes it look like a game based off some Saturday morning cartoon which made me completely avoid it. I only took an interest after hearing a few of my friends talking about it but otherwise I'm sure I would have never noticed that this game existed.
- ModernTenshi, on 01/04/2008, -0/+5Zack and WIki is a fine game. I was stoked I got it for Christmas. As it stands I can't put it down. The game is hilarious, challenging, gorgeous, and just plain fun. I also think that Nintendo could take a hint from these guys for puzzles in newer Zelda titles.
Seriously, buy the game, you won't regret it. - gothsquirrel, on 01/04/2008, -1/+5I had never heard of it. Also It doesn't help to give a generic title to a game like this. What is this game about. If you don't advertise it who will buy it. $50 for something i haven't heard about is to much of a risk.
- se1zure, on 01/04/2008, -0/+4perhaps the thrid party companies shoudl work on making better games with better marketing and at a lower cost.
It's not the consumers job to go out of their way to support third parties, it's the third party companies job to go out of their way to deliver a great product which will build a fanbase. Going out of my way to support third parties is a rediculous expectation, and contradictory to basic economics. - p0ss, on 01/04/2008, -0/+4There are only two things I want on the wii, a lightsabre game (or any well mapped sword game, unlike red steel) and GTA. GTA on wii would be ultimate.
- darkphenox, on 01/04/2008, -1/+5It use to, that was one of the reasons third party companies abandoned Nintendo in the first place, that and the not going to cds, but I believe the fact that they could develop a game and not get it released was a major factor.
- FriedTurkey, on 01/04/2008, -2/+6You can tell from your comment that you are too young to buy M rated games without your mom buying them for you.
- Ellipsys, on 01/04/2008, -2/+6Like shooters? Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles is an excellent entry in the genre. Fun and plenty of replay value for the kind of game it is.
- Xelseragoth, on 01/04/2008, -0/+3Super Mario Galaxy and Twilight Princess are not adventure games... I don't digg you down because i know the term is thrown around a lot (see 'action adventure'), but look up Grim Fandango and King's Quest, and then you will understand what an adventure game is.
- carpespasm, on 01/04/2008, -0/+3i'd have to get a lawyer and make sure sex with a video game system is legal in my state if spore came out for wii.
