- DragonQuester, on 10/10/2007, -2/+71Super Metroid FTW!
- AnimalTaglits, on 10/10/2007, -0/+40I've been waiting for Super Metroid since they announced the Virtual Console.
- CaptRage, on 10/10/2007, -4/+39The VC will not be complete until Golden Eye for the 64 comes out!
- bigdsinferno, on 10/10/2007, -5/+30while i love the wii and vc.. i wouldn't say it beats the pants of xbla. Sure, the selection is better, but they don't do anything to improve the graphics of the games and fail to add online gameplay. So, beating the pants off?
- DanteDefiance, on 10/10/2007, -0/+24Super Metroid AND Shinobi III? NOSTALGIA OVERLOAD!
- saintdesy, on 10/10/2007, -3/+17Yes, but it will still be ***** awesome.
(Especially because by then you'll probably be IN the game chucking red shells at people.) - reed311, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15I like the idea of the Virtual Console, though the games are too expensive. I already bought metroid for what $60 back in the early 90's. It's a shame there isn't a way to verify whether or not you already own the game; as the version you are buying on the VC is not improved in any way and sometimes isn't even as good (Mario Kart64). Paying $8 per SNES game is really just a "convenience" charge of not having to hook up your old SNES to your TV.
Having said that, yes, I still blow my money on the VC games because I'm too lazy to hook up the old *****. :) - MrSketch, on 10/10/2007, -9/+23I'm sure the release of Super Metriod has something to do with the fact that Metroid Prime 3 comes out next Tuesday.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14Super Metroid FTWFTW?
- dose, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13With online multiplayer too, oh god...
Too bad it will never happen. - feelingkettle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12One of the best games of all time.
- daridave, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12Super Metroid on the VC! I'd say, my library just got "Hyper". Seriously, one of the BEST 2D games out there... if not THE best.
- Johnny1337h4x0r, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12Actually from what I read the Nintendo 64 selection has better graphics (especially starfox 64, check out the water)
- moocow1452, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11Virtual Console will not be complete without Bubble Bobble. I don't care what anyone says.
- reed311, on 10/10/2007, -6/+17It's more of a toss up. XBLA actually improves the experience by updating the graphics and adding achievements and online play. Wii has more of a selection, but you are playing the exact same game you did 20 years ago with no bonuses. With Live you can re-live your double dragon memories while playing with your friends across the net. Lastly, the Virtual Console games feel overpriced, whereas XBLA games are more fair.
- Synn, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10The games I am still waiting for? (Not that anyone asked)
Super Mario Bros. 3
Goldeneye
Perfect Dark
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Super Mario Kart
Mega Man 2 and 3
Castlevania 2 and 3
Ducktales
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
Super Metroid is definitely a very good addition though, maybe the best. - PAPAsoMEAN, on 10/10/2007, -0/+101994 .......... Nintendo Presents ............... Super Metroid. I swear that opening music is the best ever!!!!! Many 360 and ps3 owners don't know what is, sad
- PigThief, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11...You realize you can re-download games, right?
- givinupthefight, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10So you're trying to bash Nintendo...for having staying power? "Damn do they suck, they keep releasing these memorable games that a ton of people love. They keep coming up with new versions that get the old fans interested but appeal to new ones at the same time! How lame is that!?"
Sure, that makes sense. - jedicurt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9i keep waiting for Turtles 2 (the arcade game), Turtles 3, and Turtles in Time
- EvolvedAnt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9You can store your games on SD cards, and even if you couldn't afford a $32 memory stick, you can delete and redownload any games you have purchased before an infinite amount of times.
Your complaint is hereby invalid. - christian691, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9All I want to know is when Super Mario RPG is coming out for the VC!!!!!
- Samburger, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8When are they going to port Earthbound to the virtual console—that's what I wanna know.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/10/2007, -4/+12You're going to be waiting a LONG time.
- Cdog923, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9I've been waiting for Super Metroid since the day I bought my Wii. My cart hasn't worked right in years...and now, I am happy.
- SPThom, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7bigdsinferno: +1 for pointing out that there *are* some advantages to XBLA.
I do agree with Skod, though... I play VC games for the nostalgia, not for an enhanced gameplay experience. Personally I find most older, low-res games more engrossing than their modern day counterparts anyhow, so who needs graphics upgrades, online play, etc.?
On the other hand, considering these *are* pretty much direct ports, I'm disappointed VC games aren't a little cheaper. XBLA probably offers a little more bang for the buck. - caddyalan, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Since I never owned a TG16 for years, I didn't play Neutopia until about 2005. It's an interesting "imitation Zelda."
- Vanor, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Super Metroid: *****. YES.
Now if they would only release Return of Samus.... - Skod, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10Why would you want those features in a game you're going to buy because you grew up loving it? I probably wouldn't do a VC download if I thought they were going to give me something that wasn't the Super Metroid I remember.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8So you don't think a game like Goldeneye wouldn't benefit from added online play?
- opnickc, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6"Paying $8 per SNES game is really just a "convenience" charge of not having to hook up your old SNES to your TV. "
Only if you're buying games you already own. Of course, if you didn't own it then you don't know if you like it.
I've found buying VC games to be a bit of a catch-22; I don't want to buy games I already own, since I could just go get them out, but I'm also hesitant to buy I game which I have no idea if I'll like. Luckly, Metroid is a no-brainer, since I didn't own it back in the day but I have since gotten into the series. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Oh, go play Super Metroid, it'll give you something better to do than sit around trolling all day. Me, I should get back to it, as I didn't play it the first time around.
- sonochamp, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I still want Super Mario Bros. 3 and Goldeneye! Work on that!
- givinupthefight, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6You're first post, you talk about how new Nintendo games are gonna be on the front page in 50 years, and now you're saying they won't last. Are you so retarded that you contradict yourself without realizing it, or just a troll?
- Nidor, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I still have my SNES cartridge for it, but will still get the VC version, as the save files no longer work on the cartridge. Once the power shuts off, goodbye saves :(
- stealthboy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Not to be picky, but didn't it say "Metroid 3"? Anyways, best SNES game ever. I dare say even better than Zelda LTTP.
- FreakTrap, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Can't you store games on an SD card?
- DanteDefiance, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I'm surprised a someone with such a clear case of metal retardation can use a computer. Good on you.
- OlnyGuy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5That would be orgasmic.
- knetworx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Two main reasons:
1. You don't have the system anymore (or perhaps never did, but played it at a friend's house, which may be part of the nostalgia.)
and/or
2. It's faster and easier to download the game than to try to find someone who's selling it.....and there's no cartridge to deal with. - S1L3NTC, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Grammar - It's a bitch.
- arsheroica, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Well that's true, you can always delete stuff you've already bought to make space, but once you've downloaded it, it's free to download again. So it's not like it's any skin off your back, right?
Still, I would agree that they should allow USB hard-drives for more storage or Wii game demoes/extra content/patch downloads. - FryedFrog, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Super Paper Mario?
Super Mario Strikers?
Rayman Raving Rabbids? - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4It's a good formula... I mean, it never gets old, and it's nice that they keep updating it to take advantage of each new system's capabilities. For instance, lately I've been finding myself switching between MK 64 and Double Dash a lot... Just depends on the mood I'm in, and who I'm playing against.
- opnickc, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4@FreakTrap
Yes, but they have to be copied back onto the system's main memory to be played, unless something changed in the last system update. - justice7, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4i really hope he was joking
and if he really talks like that -- no he couldnt.. but my head would explode. - dubbaj, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I'd say Hunterville needs a hobby besides trolling Nintendo stories.
- R3Dirkulous, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3do you have anything else better to do than troll
- Angostura, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Resident Evil 4?
- EvolvedAnt, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5You think 200 Microsoft Points just for artificial armor on your virtual horse in Oblivion that could have been included on the CD for free considering the games $60 price tag is not over priced? Mind you the horse armor game asset was probably already on the gold source and removed at the last moment just for the market place.
