- ULBouzi, on 05/01/2009, -0/+31When I read the title of the article and the description, I was kind of leaning towards the above "This proves Wii is for children," but the character models remind me of Blitz 2000 and that kicks ***** ass.
- coheedcollapse, on 04/30/2009, -0/+19No not strange. There's obviously no way for Madden on the Wii to compete with the other platforms graphically, so they're going the more cartoony and exaggerated path.
That said, I completely agree with the decision. I'd much rather play a cartoony, arcade-type game, than a game that tries to be more graphically capable than it is. - tmeaster, on 05/01/2009, -0/+16Good news! They can't compete with the graphics so focus on making the controls better.
- V3n0M, on 05/01/2009, -0/+15But the real question is - can I draft my mii?
- gramathy, on 05/01/2009, -0/+13From they way they were talking about the visual style, they took some cues from TF2 - the whole "immediate character recognition due to model shape" philosophy that Valve went with.
- MtHammer12388, on 04/30/2009, -0/+12I like the new visual style, mostly because the stylized graphics look much better than the "PS2-esque" graphics of the last few years.
I am, however, more excited that they are retooling the controls. The passing controls in the previous Wii versions have been spotty at best and a lot of the gestures weren't terribly precise either. The point and pass system they seem to be using this year looks quite promising though.
All in all, I have high hopes for this game. It looks like it might be a major improvement over last year's Wii version, which would be nice. - abehammy111, on 04/30/2009, -0/+9They look like they have little muscle and mostly fat
- crossmr, on 05/01/2009, -1/+10" See the new look and judge for yourselves! "
Where? I see a bunch of renders..
show me some in game screens and play. - WarriorBlake, on 05/01/2009, -0/+7Blitz > Madden IMO
- TheCheeks, on 05/01/2009, -3/+8Sometimes I hate realism, this looks pretty cool.
- Sylocat, on 05/01/2009, -2/+7So you can play the same game, but with more detailed graphics?
- Sylocat, on 05/01/2009, -0/+4Maybe if the gaming industry would start defining "advancement" in terms of something besides just graphical horsepower...
- Shaflugi, on 05/01/2009, -0/+4Is it really "stepping back" when they're being more creative? They're using an art style rather than going straight for realism.
- H3BR3W, on 05/01/2009, -1/+5Madden meets Blitz?! Hell yes!
- nickkuk, on 05/01/2009, -5/+9just like real american football players then.
- downwithpeople, on 05/01/2009, -4/+7Madden just retired. Maybe they should rename the franchise; that'd be a real makeover.
- nerdherder, on 05/01/2009, -0/+2Lol leave "his" fanboy" ***** at home? I guess its ok for you to haul yours around every where you go huh?
- Zap2, on 05/01/2009, -0/+2I guess...but its not as though the Wii is weaker then NGC/PS2/Xbox which all had "real" graphics for Madden...idk....
- Mtown, on 05/01/2009, -0/+2I like how the kickers are ridiculously skinny.
- hellsing47, on 05/03/2009, -0/+2I missed what EA and Madden have to do with Zelda.
- Manitoadlet, on 05/01/2009, -0/+2I like the new look but graphics aren't why I stopped playing Madden.
- electricwaffles, on 05/01/2009, -0/+2Players in Madden games have always looked that way. I think John Madden negotiated it in his contract to make him feel better about his self-image.
- mabsark, on 05/01/2009, -0/+2Everyone knows that the number 1 reason is to kick your friends arse.
- Chirp08, on 05/01/2009, -5/+6I have mixed feelings about this, it certainly does fit the platform better but I don't like the idea of developers having to step back in terms of their ability to cater to what is by all means last generation hardware.
- nokstar, on 05/03/2009, -0/+1BRETT FAVRE
- gramathy, on 05/01/2009, -2/+3No - wait - they're just changing the graphics.
(This IS EA after all.) - dsmx, on 05/01/2009, -1/+2The realism is uncanny.
- NaziHatinChimp, on 05/02/2009, -0/+1Oh man an update from the PS2 graphics. Sweet.
- kartman2001, on 05/01/2009, -3/+4What a tool
- rsechris, on 05/01/2009, -1/+2It looks good....but sports games are more enjoyable when they look more realistic because the whole feel of the games are so that they seem like you are watching them
- DLit, on 05/01/2009, -0/+1I wonder if they change madden's voice too....
- Elranzer, on 05/01/2009, -0/+1"Does anybody play the Wii any more?"
Yeah they do. Does anyone play the PS3 anymore? Why is Square Enix even bothering releasing FF13 on the system? - SreyaNotfilc, on 05/01/2009, -0/+1This seems like it's going to be the standard to the graphical trend to the games on the Wii. Ghostbusters sports a cartoon feel (a la The Incredibles or anything Pixar related) to it as well as Grand Slam Tennis. The great thing about it, all of the games looks great. It shows that graphics can be nice, but it's not super important.
- tacojohn48, on 05/01/2009, -0/+1only if we are lucky
- aceakm, on 05/01/2009, -0/+1Read a book.
- Cassanova, on 05/01/2009, -0/+1Kinda reminds me of TF2. Haven't played Madden in years, but I hope they nail the control scheme on this one. Could be a lot of fun.
- DJMattB241, on 05/01/2009, -0/+1That's not the only reason to enjoy a sports game.
- crazyhorse13, on 05/02/2009, -0/+1RIP Blitz
- coheedcollapse, on 05/01/2009, -1/+2Yeah, I find it much easier to play older games with cartoon-style graphics than realistically rendered stuff. I seriously can't pick up and play an FPS made before the PS2 generation of gaming, but I can play sprite-based and cel-shaded games all day no matter the system.
- preppypoof, on 05/01/2009, -3/+3this is great for nintendo's target audience, but it just pushes them farther away from their promise of getting games for their "hardcore gamers". new zelda please?
- BZKyle, on 04/30/2009, -1/+1Does it also come with a whiteboard and a plush Brett Favre doll?
- braineater2448, on 04/30/2009, -2/+2Strange...
- fsufanizzle, on 05/01/2009, -4/+4I guess it sucks for those that want a realistic Madden. They should've made a new franchise for it or something. This shift blatantly shows what the Wii's primary market is....
- inactive, on 05/01/2009, -0/+0Go ***** yourself fanboy
- edmund36, on 05/25/2009, -0/+0it deos not matter how a game looks (iT HAS TO LOOK DECENT) it matters more on how it controls. If the controls suck then no matter how it looks will make it the game fun or get anyone to buy it.
- NYKnicker, on 05/02/2009, -0/+0I'm glad to see that EA Sports opted for a new look for the Nintendo Wii console. This console hardware isn't built for graphiics and you have to think outside the box sometime.
