- DenTPuzz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14I thought this was going to be a story about a new Wii peripheral device or something...
- Bricks, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13Come get ***** and wildly flail your arms around other ***** people
- orlyfactor, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12Don't knock Hoboken. Over 130 bars in a square mile! And hot yuppie chicks and a great view of lower Manhattan. Birthplace of Sinatra and baseball, too. Hoboken is awesome.
- Lasereth, on 10/10/2007, -6/+16I imagine a Wii on an 82" TV would look like a maximized youtube video.
- yanivalfasy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7wow, was anyone else expecting a picture of the... inside!
- feshmania, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7New Jersey...we are to America what America is to the world...
- MrMongoose, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Also known as "liquid anti-aliasing".
- louapol, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5NJ hates you too.
- LaSepultura, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6This place sounds awesome. Tuesday is Martini Night - $2 Martinis For Girls with Bikinis and Thursday is ***** It Give Me a Bucket night.
- badassninja, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5.... Beer and the wii.. awesome.
- Sk8SkaNJ, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Wish I knew about this, I was just there a few hours ago.
- BurnTees, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3i'm sorry, i just had to:
http://www.cafepress.com/burntees/651019 - BurnTees, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3non Jersey people just don't get it...we love our reputation because people outside NJ are totally clueless..they know nothing about our state besides what people tell them. what's that? you've flown into Newark and seen the Turnpike? yea, that's how the whole state looks.
people in NJ probably have more pride than any other state out there. - kent1146, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Don't forget Benny Tudino's... probably the best greasy pizza I've had in my life. Drunk, young, hot white girls running around all over the place, sweaty belligerent drunk white guys stumbling around looking to pick fights, everyone singing a poor rendition of "Livin on a Prayer" at the top of their lungs.
Hoboken's a GREAT place to live, especially if you've always had a place in your heart for that really bad frat party where you got mono.
(I'm not being sarcastic... I live in Hoboken, and I love it. And thank god that you can only get mono once). - TimmyGUNZ, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2NJ has some of the best parks in the entire country. We've got the ocean, some wonderful beaches, and where I live takes me 5 minute subway ride into Manhattan. I have friends in Brooklyn and Queens who take 10x that long to get into NYC.
People who don't live here like to be cool and say they hate NJ b/c it smells like garbage and is nothing but highways, but both those statements couldn't be further from the truth. - punchinelli, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2This has to be the most generic Wii comment in the history of man, bar none
- mookieXL, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Beer goggles to the rescue.
- RatherDashing, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I agree. Really don't like McSwiggens all too much though. Tonight I'll be at the funky monkey for dollar drafts until 9, then the dubliner for the bracelet special from 9-11. Now thats a hoboken thursday :).
- Alvough, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I think The Miles Square has Guitar Hero night....
- Chumbodonk, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1McSwiggan's is always packed and really isn't very big at all. I don't see how they could host something like that
- lkmbrd, on 10/10/2007, -13/+14Shame it's in New Jersey.
- orlyfactor, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Feed me enough drinks and I'll believe that baseball was invented on Mars - there's no disputing that there are PLENTY of places to get sloshed in Hoboken...so...whatever.
- uptown, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2"the bracelet special from 9-11"?
Wow ... I totally misread that the first time and thought a bar had made up a drink special for 9/11. - JohnnyXmas, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2There's a 24-hour rib joint next to the flagship bar in my town where they have halo 2 on Xbox Live running round the clock on 3 63" DLP's. Often times you'll find people who left the bar at closing (1:30 AM weekdays), went into the rib joint, and suddenly discovered it's 8 AM and they have to get to work.
Surprisingly, the owner says there is never anything more than a brief bickering over play time or vying for the controllers. Playing against them form home is surreal, because you have this room full of liek 20 peopel all screaming at you over the headset. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3You are so getting dugg down
- broeks, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The buffalo wild wings by me has wii home run derby night for free beer n stuff.
- caffiend, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Someone just opened a bar in Montgomery, Alabama that has a Wii room. Of course, you have to be a VIP member ($450-1000/month).
http://www.montgomeryadvertiser.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070823/ENT/708230336&SearchID=73291828265830 - MrMongoose, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1This seems to be a trend among 'hip' bars with a younger crowd. Buffalo Billiards here in Austin has a very plush Wii area upstairs, with 3 big couches around a projector for everyone to relax on. Also, just went to a place called Creekside Lounge on 7th street that had Xbox360 Guitar Hero and the Wii on a projector, which they said they do every Tuesday night. So yeah, bar + video games = awesome.
- TimmyGUNZ, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1But do they have the Bon Jovi cover bands that Willie McBrides gets?
- 321digg, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1McSwiggan's does in fact have Wii with Kelii (the bartender) every Tuesday night. Martinis are half price for everyone. Its a great place to play pool too... they keep the table in great shape.
- HanSolo69, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2The ***** bar that my brother works in (Empire in Richmond, VA) has a Wii for patrons to play. this isn't really a big deal. I've heard of a lot of places doing this. Videogames in small bars are old news. I've been in diners where they have an NES hooked up at the bar.
- kaptanbo, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I live a block away, and there is indeed Wii at McSwiggans.
On sundays you'll always find people in there playing tiger woods golf, having just come back from actual golfing none the less!
Just don't eat there, my gf and i tried their $5 brunch/incl drink, and almost vomited later in the day.... :( - Ramble, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Flaming Moe's?
- TimmyGUNZ, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Because if it's on Wikipedia, it HAS to be true.
As a Hoboken resident, I firmly believe that the first game of baseball was played there, and Mr. Ken Burns agrees in his amazing, epic, "Baseball" documentary. Besides, is there really anything cooler than this in the streets of Pittsfield, MA: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Hoboken,+NJ,+USA&ie=UTF8&ll=40.749809,-74.026901&spn=0.00113,0.002414&t=k&z=19&om=1 - BurnTees, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1didn't 7 star close down?
- Jebral, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Most of the negative comments toward NJ are joking in nature, I believe.
- RG13, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Its more of a OMG MY E-PENIS IS BIGGER THAN YOURS post.
- christoscamaro, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I owned a powerglove (yes, N didn't make it, I know)
Some other previous power-globe owner in Jersey go here and represent! - TimmyGUNZ, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Where in Hoboken do you live? I'm on 3rd and Park myself, right around the corner from 7 Stars, another QUALITY Pizza joint.
- dillyd, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Pins for Pints Wii bowling tournament runs 8 weeks and starts Tuesday Sept 18th. Every Tuesday from 7-11 you can bowl and drink and win a Wii game system or a Game Stop gift certificate.
- Shaflugi, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2OH NO, NOT A POSITIVE PS3 POST! Digg 'im down, boys.
***** fanboys. - daridave, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1"Wii Bar" sounded like a peripheral, especially due to the use of "unveiled". Way to mislead with your title. burried.
- SkylarEC, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I agree with all you said about Hoboken, except for the baseball thing. The oldest record of anything baseball in North America was a law in Pittsfield MA, banning anyone from playing it anywhere near the new courthouse (1791). According to Wikpedia, we beat Hoboken by about fifty years.
- Shawn4168, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Oh my goodness!!! You mean that words in the English language can have more than one possible meaning? That concept is so confusing! No wonder you're so upset!
- wassim2k, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Damn, I thought it would be some kind of new controller in the shape of a bar. Freakin' booze hounds.
- DJRen, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0I fail to see how this is news because a Bar/Pub is running a gamers night? we have been doing this on a Sunday night at my local for years, System linked xbox on normal TV's , PS2 with Guitar Hero on one of the projectors, and Wii on there other
Beer & Videogames are a great combination! - SkylarEC, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0Agreed--I just had to insert some hometown pride.
- mstachiw, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0YES! I'm like 20 minutes away from Hoboken. Looks like I'll be playing some 82" WiiSports with few pints in me.... Just hope they have the NEW wrist straps. I for one am now paying for a new 82".
- Crash1337, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2I was up in Brisbane for some work a few weeks ago and went out one night. Ended up at a place that was packed out in the city called The Victory, they had Wii Sports going on the tv there with a bunch of drunk guys and girls having a go. Such an awesome idea. Plus its like the wii was designed to be played while drunk.
- Elric77, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0Baseball's first recorded game was in Canada, but I can't argue with the rest.
