- The1337Dude, on 02/11/2008, -5/+57Awesome. I still have Donkey Kong Country, and I still have the "Making of Donkey Kong Country" tape they sent to Nintendo Power subscribers.
- joehobbes, on 02/11/2008, -1/+11You have the competition cart? or just the regular one?
- arcooke, on 02/11/2008, -0/+9I still have the video tape showcasing the upcoming SNES months before it ever came out. It was also sent out with Nintendo Power. And the poster that came with it. :)
I don't know how I managed to hang onto that.. I can't even find my damn SNES.- fadetoone, on 02/11/2008, -0/+5Hmm... I still have several of those Nintendo Power preview videos... they worth anything?
- arcooke, on 02/11/2008, -2/+3http://cgi.ebay.com/Lot-of-5-Nintendo-Promo-VHS-Vi ...
Doesn't look like it. (btw the one I have is the front-most one in that picture.. and I was wrong, it was for N64 :( ) - rarson, on 02/11/2008, -0/+6Nothing on VHS is worth anything anymore.
- antdude, on 03/20/2008, -0/+1Then record, encode, and upload all!
- arcooke, on 02/11/2008, -2/+3http://cgi.ebay.com/Lot-of-5-Nintendo-Promo-VHS-Vi ...
- fadetoone, on 02/11/2008, -0/+5Hmm... I still have several of those Nintendo Power preview videos... they worth anything?
- demodawid, on 02/11/2008, -7/+5...torrent?
- sporg, on 02/11/2008, -9/+5No sense paying that much for any of those games when you can download a rom and play it on an emulator for free. You can even get a snes style controller if you are that obsessed with an ancient video game console.
- ZombieSociety, on 02/11/2008, -0/+15Yeah, that's hardly the point, you obvious-understander-of-how-collecting-things-works.
...sorry I couldn't come up with a more creative name to call you.
- ZombieSociety, on 02/11/2008, -0/+15Yeah, that's hardly the point, you obvious-understander-of-how-collecting-things-works.
- Zapita, on 02/11/2008, -0/+8>>"Making of Donkey Kong Country"
youtube it? :D- Mutton, on 02/11/2008, -0/+4http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPxA-VlLhwM
- habys, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1That video was awesome! I was so excited about Nintendo technology then. I even made my mom watch it, I loved how they went into detail about the different layers of snow and the rendering technology.. I don't have it anymore though.
- Nudar, on 02/12/2008, -0/+1Donkey Kong Country - great game - but the one listed as rare is the Competition cartridge which was never available for sale in stores.
- Step1Mark, on 02/11/2008, -19/+26http://www.duggmirror.com
- lmulaire, on 02/11/2008, -1/+13Thank you good sir. some site are blocked from work but the digg mirror is not hehe
- SuperCUBE, on 02/11/2008, -1/+2Yeah, why you're getting dugg down is beyond me. Thanks for putting that up.
- Tarkaan, on 02/12/2008, -0/+1He's getting dugg down because he didn't post the full link. That's annoying. I could put duggmirror.com in half of the stories, and those that make the front page, get dugg up... Not helpful in the least.
- FatLoser, on 02/12/2008, -0/+2He's getting dugg down because half the people on Digg don't browse with referrers turned on. We just roll like that.
- slimscane, on 02/11/2008, -2/+71Any article that mentions E.V.O. the Search for Eden, in any context, gets my digg. Most underrated (forgotten?) game of all time.
- bonecones, on 02/11/2008, -1/+6I love that game. I can't help but think that this game was an inspiration to Spore or flow.
If any of you have never played it, do it now, you won't regret it. - jcastillo81, on 02/11/2008, -1/+13Thinking back its pretty funny that my 10-year-old, catholic school-goin' self loved a game about evolution. Now I'm an atheist. Truth that video games corrupt your mind?
- sancho, on 02/11/2008, -7/+1Interesting. The Catholic church is really one of the more liberal faiths in America--they see no problem with evolution.
- cawpin, on 02/11/2008, -1/+1What planet are you on?
- m0neybags, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1They do teach evolution in Catholic schools.
- jcastillo81, on 02/12/2008, -1/+1Not in the one i went to for 9 years.
- insllvn, on 02/11/2008, -1/+4cawpin, He is on America. Believe it or not, in America the Catholics are the reasonable religion. Just think about that for a minute, the people who brought you the crusades and the inquisition are the nice reasonable folks, who no longer mind so much if you believe in a little science from time to time. The rest of the country is made up of a group of people who left Europe and said "We laugh at your primitive notions of religious intolerance, now watch as I burn this girl for knowing math!"
- stagolee, on 02/11/2008, -0/+3cawpin:
What planet are you on?
insllvn:
cawpin, He is on America.
Ah, planet America, with its planetary anthem:
"Our nation reeks of trees,
our yaks are very large,
and we have to clean up after them..."
Wait, no, that's not right.
- bffoley, on 02/11/2008, -1/+5Well, the official Catholic line is that God created everything like Genesis says, but since then things have been evolving (which is what God planned to happen).
- insllvn, on 02/11/2008, -0/+7So, to put it another way, evolution is real, but god totally called it.
- sancho, on 02/11/2008, -7/+1Interesting. The Catholic church is really one of the more liberal faiths in America--they see no problem with evolution.
- crashingechelon, on 02/11/2008, -1/+1I actually got that game for Christmas years back and I had no clue what it was. Me and friend really got into playing the game to the point that it was the only one we played for a while. I really hope I still have the cart somewhere around the house now that I know how rare it is.
- TheUngod, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1EVO, and also Ogre Battle. Definitely one of the most underrated games ever. Glad I held onto my original cartridge of that one.
- daridave, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1Not only did that game rule, I still keep my EVO-themed Nintendo Power like it was gold. It's funny how reading those mags about SNES games makes me want to play them all over again so bad... this doesn't happen with new games anymore! Why ?
- Paul1245, on 02/12/2008, -0/+0Damn straight. E.V.O. was awesome.
- bonecones, on 02/11/2008, -1/+6I love that game. I can't help but think that this game was an inspiration to Spore or flow.
- AndrewDB, on 02/11/2008, -6/+12It doesn't list the Mario All Stars & Super Mario World combo cart.
I'm surprised by that, they're ultra rare.- racketboy, on 02/11/2008, -1/+19Actually, it would have been the next one on the bottom of the honorable mentions list of valuable games, bu its not as rare as you might think...
- DryerCombo, on 02/11/2008, -1/+9Mario All-Stars/Super Mario World is about 30 dollars in most stores that know what the hell it is. It was bundled with a SNES System so most people don't know that the cart even exists. Not that rare though, I've come across 3 of them.
- Doomsan, on 02/11/2008, -3/+5I live in Chile and i have it, so i don't think that's too rare.
- ZenMojo, on 02/11/2008, -3/+1Yeah...my little brothers have that cartridge. Not really that rare.
- LongShlong, on 02/11/2008, -1/+2I'm kind of surprised Civilization didn't make the cut! Pshaw!
- domdunc, on 02/11/2008, -1/+1Yeah I had it too. Sold it long ago though. Dang.
- ZombieSociety, on 02/11/2008, -0/+3I had it at one point, but, like the dummy I am, I sold my SNES gear when N64 came along. I haven't really seen it in stores, though. Like...ever.
- mbrannon, on 02/12/2008, -0/+1I happened to come across Super Mario All-Stars at a Game Crazy (those game stores attached to Hollywood Video) and they only wanted $5 for it. I picked it up as it is easily worth $30-40.
- jsin1276, on 02/12/2008, -0/+1Yeah this game isn't as rare as you think. You can easily find this title on EBay or at a local "mom and pop" type of video game store.
- chingy1788, on 02/11/2008, -4/+16awww I have none of those...
My US cousin has Earthbound- DarkSamus, on 02/11/2008, -8/+2chingy must be very famous where you live
- UNL1M1T3D, on 02/11/2008, -1/+11Favorite game of all time. I will never sell my copy, especially since I bought it for $15.
- MadFistWilly, on 02/11/2008, -1/+8No ***** man, I got Earthbound with the players guide at best buy on sale for $6 when I was a kid... and I had already spent like $12 renting it couple times, lol.
- bbqsalad, on 02/11/2008, -1/+3Absolutly best rpg ever. Game brings back fond memories for me. Where is Mother 3 for us english folks NOA?
- UNL1M1T3D, on 02/11/2008, -1/+2Good question.
- daemoncollector, on 02/11/2008, -0/+6http://mother3.fobby.net
- Scira, on 02/11/2008, -0/+5Remember those weird scratch&sniff stickers that came with it? one was like pizza scented, another was supposed to smell like a garbage monster..
- dmacmattack, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1Yea and I remember that for some reason Ness smelled like he crapped himself.
- Sarevok9, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1*readies manical supervillian laugh*
I have most of those, Chrono trigger (paid 85$ when it was released), Mario rpg, secret of mana, evermore, earthbound.
A quick question though, I was always under the influence that megaman X-2 was more rare than 3... I rented 2 when 3 came out.... went to buy x2 afterwards and in the 10 years since haven't found a copy at my local Gamestop or any in the surrounding jurisdictions.- saisumimen, on 02/12/2008, -0/+1You're "under the influence" alright if you think we believe you have most of those games :P
- AndrewDB, on 02/12/2008, -0/+1I have Chrono Trigger, Mario RPG, Mana, earthbound, mario paint, and a few dozen other pretty rare ones. I'd be happy to provide photo proof too.
I'm an snes game collector.
- AndrewDB, on 02/12/2008, -0/+1I have Chrono Trigger, Mario RPG, Mana, earthbound, mario paint, and a few dozen other pretty rare ones. I'd be happy to provide photo proof too.
- FatLoser, on 02/12/2008, -0/+1You think THOSE are rare? I have a girlfriend. I haven't unwrapped her yet, but once my asthma settles down I'm totally going to blow her up and rub on her until something awesome happens.
- saisumimen, on 02/12/2008, -0/+1You're "under the influence" alright if you think we believe you have most of those games :P
- DryerCombo, on 02/11/2008, -1/+46http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v177/washerdryer ...
That's the real box to Mountain Bike Rally/Speed Racer. I own both games already so this sucker is never being opened.- racketboy, on 02/11/2008, -1/+26Holy cow! Thanks for the box pic. I'll put it on the article, but if you don't want me to, just let me know and I'll take it down.
Thanks!- UNL1M1T3D, on 02/11/2008, -1/+12Great article Racketboy. Long live the SNES.
- racketboy, on 02/11/2008, -1/+26Holy cow! Thanks for the box pic. I'll put it on the article, but if you don't want me to, just let me know and I'll take it down.
- foxhaze, on 02/11/2008, -45/+4Why isn't Halo on that list?
- DarkSamus, on 02/11/2008, -4/+14*valuable
- o0joshua0o, on 02/11/2008, -2/+11Halo isn't a SNES title, nor does it belong to the subset of SNES titles one could call "rare and valuable".
- someone173406, on 02/11/2008, -2/+3Halo's not even valuable.
/braces for digg oblivion.
- someone173406, on 02/11/2008, -2/+3Halo's not even valuable.
- bbqsalad, on 02/11/2008, -5/+14And Halo is over-rated and really not all it's made out to be. There I said it.
- BorisT, on 02/11/2008, -3/+3"SURPRISE. I was kidding. That comment you read was a joke. Blow out the candles on that SHAME CAKE, and make a wish to have a better sense of humor."
Too bad it wasn't funny.
When I can't tell the difference between purposeful troll or plain idiot, I choose idiot.- Kajarago, on 02/11/2008, -1/+1What's the difference?
- foxhaze, on 02/12/2008, -2/+1That was actually a serious comment. Halo should be on that *****' list.
- someone173406, on 02/12/2008, -0/+2Halo's 128 bit, not 16 bit. Know the difference.
- fatb0y42, on 02/12/2008, -0/+1Wow. There is so much wrong with that question that I'm not even sure where to begin....
- smacksaw, on 02/11/2008, -12/+4Hmm...that's pretty funny. When my ex-partner I owned video game stores with got all coked-up and involved with Hell's Angels (and then sent to PMITA prison) I recovered a bunch of inventory from him. He kept a store going so he wanted all of the mainstream inventory and gave me all of the "crap" as it were.
Somewhere, in boxes are pretty much all of those games in this article. Unless my ex mother-in-law threw that stuff away as well...- ieataquacrayons, on 02/11/2008, -5/+8Buried, because you didn't proofread. Or, you did and suck at it.
- joehobbes, on 02/11/2008, -9/+5Buried because you're a grammar nazi.
- capiCrimm, on 02/11/2008, -2/+11FREE HUGS!!!!
- cmuwriter, on 02/11/2008, -1/+8I'll take five!
- nastajus, on 02/11/2008, -0/+4Ieatauqacrayons has a point here. WTF i can't read that. Bury his ass.
- capiCrimm, on 02/11/2008, -2/+11FREE HUGS!!!!
- joehobbes, on 02/11/2008, -9/+5Buried because you're a grammar nazi.
- cmuwriter, on 02/11/2008, -1/+11Wow there's your Lifetime movie plot right there.
- kidendless, on 02/11/2008, -1/+10Ah, the old "get coked-up and involved with the Hell's Angels". If I had a nickel for every time that happened to my relatives, I'd be rich enough to...well, get coked up and get involved with the Hell's Angels!
- kiiwii, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1Sure are a lot of ex's in your life aren't there?
- smacksaw, on 02/12/2008, -0/+1Gotta cut dead weight LOL
- ieataquacrayons, on 02/11/2008, -5/+8Buried, because you didn't proofread. Or, you did and suck at it.
- Grimace421, on 02/11/2008, -3/+46EARTHBOUND!!!
- UNL1M1T3D, on 02/11/2008, -2/+11Greatest. Game. Ever.
- amgamer23, on 02/11/2008, -2/+10No doubt about it.
- manvsmonster, on 02/11/2008, -0/+3I totally got the box and everything off of eBay one greedy day. Not exactly mint, but in pretty good condition. Muahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!
- candafilm, on 02/11/2008, -0/+2I bought an SNES off Ebay just for Earthbound. Best game ever.
- Vuredel, on 02/12/2008, -0/+1Dugg for EarthBound.
- UNL1M1T3D, on 02/11/2008, -2/+11Greatest. Game. Ever.
- whitezombie420, on 02/11/2008, -3/+19awesome chronotrigger. my bro has that, we used to play the ***** out of it. ct was the only turn based rpg that i ever really liked.
- fadetoone, on 02/11/2008, -1/+4I remember when that game first came out, I looked everywhere for it and finallly had to pay something outrageous like $85 at a Funcoland. At least these days, video game prices have become more standardized.
I also had FFIII and Super Mario RPG, but got rid of all my SNES stuff to get a N64 with Ocarina of Time. I still have the system by itself... complete with yellowing top. - PleaseJustDie, on 02/11/2008, -1/+2I looked at buying chrono trigger so many times but every time I saw it used in the gamestop they were asking like 130 bucks. When it was released for th PSX I got a copy of it then next time I was in the gamestop the Snes version was down to 25 bucks.
- nastajus, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1you should have swapped them. the psx has an annoying delay for every battle start while the music loads. snes doesn't.
- lolinyerface, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1SNES Rom for the GB DS.
- whitezombie420, on 02/11/2008, -1/+1oh yea i forgot to mention, he traded his sega for it. a sega, which at THAT time you could get at gamestop for around 30 bucks. he also got a ***** load of other games in the trade. the dude that made the trade knew the game was worth something, but this was before ebay so.....
- FatLoser, on 02/12/2008, -0/+1TMI
- po43292, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1I remember paying $80 for Chrono Trigger when it came out at Babbages. I can't believe a sealed copy of it can go for $1200!
- fadetoone, on 02/11/2008, -1/+4I remember when that game first came out, I looked everywhere for it and finallly had to pay something outrageous like $85 at a Funcoland. At least these days, video game prices have become more standardized.
- bobthegreat1224, on 02/11/2008, -11/+4Us Genesis kids really get screwed on these lists, don't we?
- joehobbes, on 02/11/2008, -2/+3I'm a Genesis fan as well, but I would imagine racketboy will cover the Genesis in this series eventually...
- joehobbes, on 02/11/2008, -1/+6It's amazing how much the box and manual can do to the value of these games. Sealed game prices are also insane.
This is a lot like how old baseball cards are worth so much because moms everywhere threw them in the trash.
I would wager that only a small percentage of gamers in the 90's kept the boxes and manuals for their SNES games -- and even fewer are still in good condition.
At least the Genesis had mostly plastic boxes which were more practical for storage.- DarkSamus, on 02/11/2008, -0/+5i have shaq-fu with box and manual, immac.
let's start the bid at, say $.25? - SimonYork, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1Actually, I kept all of the boxes and manuals due to the fact that my brother had thrown out all of both that I had for the NES. Since I was the only one to continue to play and buy games, I kept everything. Starting with the Power Glove.
- ggko, on 02/12/2008, -0/+1Paper implies disposable, so most people threw those out. Thus many Genesis & SMS games can be found in their plastic boxes still. Though even cardboard boxes can survive if there is some utility in them. Intellivision games came in a bookcase style box, so it's not too unusual to find some of those games with their boxes surviving.
Now that Nintendo has adopted plastic cases for the DS, (not to mention the GC and Wii,) many of those are likely to survive into the future, unlike Gameboy(Color/Advance) games.
- DarkSamus, on 02/11/2008, -0/+5i have shaq-fu with box and manual, immac.
- sarashivers, on 02/11/2008, -20/+1some interesting video game music remixed:
http://www.extlabs.com/yourinfamousharp - creeva, on 02/11/2008, -3/+2I own Mario RPG, I think Dracula X, and maybe one more from that list.
- pjkli, on 02/11/2008, -1/+3That makes th $25 I shelled out 2 years ago for Super Mario RPG not seem so bad. SMRPG has to be my favorite of all time. Then the Earthworm Jim's.
- blackdeath88012, on 02/11/2008, -0/+2Yea i also have Mario RPG, it's still among my top 5 favorite games of all time.
- floatingpoints, on 02/11/2008, -14/+1What a horrible looking site.
Why would you make the text AND background black? I don't wanna select all just to read.- joehobbes, on 02/11/2008, -0/+9It's probably because the page didn't finish loading for you.
It looks fine for me... - heartcoldfusion, on 02/11/2008, -0/+3It's a clever ruse to trick SLOADERS into not looking at the site.
- joehobbes, on 02/11/2008, -0/+9It's probably because the page didn't finish loading for you.
- xxA7XxaDdiCtxx, on 02/11/2008, -3/+14Crap, I recently sold Super Mario RPG at a yardsale for $5
- ThEDeMoNKiNg, on 02/11/2008, -1/+21I freaking choked on my cereal when I read that. Are you crazy or something? Why did you sell such an awesome game? Have retro-gamers lost their way?
- ACrazyGerman, on 02/11/2008, -3/+3I got Chrono Trigger at a yard sale once for $3 mint condition. Lost it :( sadist day of my life.
- fadetoone, on 02/11/2008, -3/+25As a masochist, I laugh at you!
- dema, on 02/11/2008, -1/+2Masochism would have nothing to do with that. If you get pleasure from his pain, you are (sort of) a sadist.
- adeadwaffle, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1Stfu dema or I'll put you down!
- DarkSamus, on 02/11/2008, -2/+1well i could loan you the rom
- fadetoone, on 02/11/2008, -3/+25As a masochist, I laugh at you!
- loungechair, on 02/11/2008, -1/+5Don't feel bad, when I was a kid I sold my star wars action figures at a yard sale. ORIGINAL star wars action figures from when the first movie came out. I don't know or want to know how much they are worth, but I'd imagine it's more than the handful of change I got for them.
- rarson, on 02/11/2008, -0/+2My mom gave away my NES and all the games with it to the Salvation Army. The stupid thing was, even back then, it was still worth some money. This happened a little while after the SNES came out.
- moush, on 02/12/2008, -0/+2Considering the games should only be worth 5 dollars, it's no big lose. Learn to emulate imo.
- cmuwriter, on 02/11/2008, -1/+5I would be interested in what some of the rarest original Game Boy games are.
- petecampbell, on 02/11/2008, -3/+3How about rare NES games? I'm hankering to get rid of my silver cartridge version of Zelda 1
- AppleGeorge, on 02/11/2008, -1/+2I used to have the silver cartridge of that when I was a kid and ended up selling it to Funcoland before they turned into ***** GameStop. Atleast I gave it to someplace decent. :/
- bffoley, on 02/11/2008, -1/+5Oh god, Funcoland. The one that was near me smelled strongly like diarrhea all the time. Then it turned into a Gamestop and the smell went away.
- loungechair, on 02/11/2008, -7/+0That cartridge was gold, not silver!
- AppleGeorge, on 02/11/2008, -3/+4The gold version wasn't the rare version, moron.
- loungechair, on 02/11/2008, -9/+4Sorry, I didn't realize that the gold version wasn't the rare one, or that I was a moron, or that your dad is gay.
- AppleGeorge, on 02/11/2008, -3/+4The gold version wasn't the rare version, moron.
- bbqsalad, on 02/11/2008, -1/+1Silver is special version!.. I still have my gold copy and will always have it.
- bffoley, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1Silver cartridge Zelda 1? Blasphemy!
- ikarosu, on 02/11/2008, -1/+0I have the gold cartridge for Zelda II. :D
- mpn401, on 02/11/2008, -0/+3Among the rarest NES games, besides the NWC carts, are the Active Enterprises unlicensed games.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=zUak3F3oI04 is a video playthrough of Cheetahmen II, which wasn't even released until someone found it in a warehouse in 1997.- digitalunit, on 02/12/2008, -0/+1Ow, My ears.
- ZombieSociety, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1Pete, this is the list I go by, but it doesn't seem to have the silver Zelda cart on it; http://www.neshq.com/lists/updatedrare60.txt
...so this actually probably isn't of much help.
- AppleGeorge, on 02/11/2008, -1/+2I used to have the silver cartridge of that when I was a kid and ended up selling it to Funcoland before they turned into ***** GameStop. Atleast I gave it to someplace decent. :/
- Pxtl, on 02/11/2008, -1/+2Suprised the value of Metal Warriors is so low - I can't find it anywhere.
- bbqsalad, on 02/11/2008, -2/+26Dugg for EarthBound.

- KeithA45, on 02/11/2008, -2/+3They're right about Mega Man X3. I used to collect the mega-man games, and I could never get my hands on specifically THAT one...
- Xihix, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1Heh, I have Megaman 7, and X through X3 for SNES. I also have Super Mario RPG and it's original box (still have the price tag thing on it, too). In addition, I believe I have Earthbound and Chrono Trigger laying somewhere in my old room.
- bloggerjul, on 02/11/2008, -1/+3sweet nostalgia
- hppypnts, on 02/11/2008, -3/+8Harvest Moon (SNES) came out today on Wii VC for $8 I guess it's not that rare now ;) Some people will always want the original packaging though I guess. Plus it doesn't matter how they emulate it, it never comes out as crisp as the original SNES cartridge game.
- harrison5394, on 02/11/2008, -1/+1I don't know about that. Running VC games through component cables at 480p on my 61" HDTV looks pretty nice. Better than my SNES games ever looked using that RF switch thingy on a 24incher.
- wolferz, on 02/11/2008, -10/+3I will never understand why Chrono Trigger gets all the accolades. I've never been able to beat it... got bored every time. I love RPGs. FF4 and the entire Breath of Fire series remain some of my favorite RPGs. Yet Chrono Trigger bores me.
Besides... at the time it came out there was a much better RPG available that strictly speaking had everything it had but better. It wasn't turn based but the story and art style was similar (but more polished) and the game play was freaking addictive... very few RPG's can say that. Any one that has played Secret of Mana will agree.
Never beat EVO ether... but that game kicks my butt for some reason. Definitely not a boring game.- fadetoone, on 02/11/2008, -2/+2I feel the opposite. Secret of Mana bored me... and dear god the ending of that game was unbelievably hard. I think I beat it but it just ***** me off.
Chrono Trigger was fantastic. The new game + feature and multiple endings only made it better. - accessviolation, on 02/11/2008, -1/+2Chrono Trigger's art was probably the most polished of any JRPG on the SNES. It came out at the end of the console's lifecycle, and it was 32Mbit. Crammed full of great graphics and sound. I though Secret of Mana was so-so.
- RandomNetUser, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1The thing that always ***** me off about Secret of Mana was that there weren't enough Axe Orbs to level it up all the way. Really kinda irks that completionist in me. And the only randomly dropped weapon orb I ever got was for the Spear... which made the Daedelus Lance. Other than that, it was a pretty decent game. Chaining spells together to level up magic while completely overkilling some poor flower was always fun too.
- BabyWookie, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1Chrono Trigger is RPG-lite compared to FF3 (VI). It is too short, too easy and too streamlined. Plus, the music is not nearly as good.
- fadetoone, on 02/11/2008, -2/+2I feel the opposite. Secret of Mana bored me... and dear god the ending of that game was unbelievably hard. I think I beat it but it just ***** me off.
- mdoom, on 02/11/2008, -0/+2Man, one of the harder games to find that I remember always playing that didn't make the list, is Sim City 2000. I am not sure how rare it actually is, but I remember always having difficulty finding it on snes.
- steelclash84, on 02/11/2008, -0/+2I don't think it was ever released to the U.S. I've only seen the Japanese version of SC2000.
- americascynic, on 02/11/2008, -0/+0Considering that he said he played it, I'd say it was released to the US. I hade it too. It rocked.
- steelclash84, on 02/11/2008, -0/+2I don't think it was ever released to the U.S. I've only seen the Japanese version of SC2000.
- ncapone, on 02/11/2008, -1/+2Too bad there's no hope for a Kunio-kun revival...man, those games were great.
- Meekers, on 02/11/2008, -1/+3Ogre battles is one of my favorite games ever. So many ways for it to unfold...though I only play it on an emulator as it is much more enjoyable when you can up the speed of the game.
- jakewho, on 02/11/2008, -8/+0super nintendo games are valuable?
- americascynic, on 02/11/2008, -0/+0If they weren't this digg wouldn't have existed.
- russellphilip, on 02/11/2008, -1/+2I have a copy of Earthbound at home with the box and guide. Is it pathetic that I actually have to think about selling it? What an awesome game. ZOom!
- Infowarmachine, on 02/11/2008, -3/+1cool i have half of those (the less rare half)
all opened though too hehe - MizuhoChan, on 02/11/2008, -4/+4Fails for lack of Secret of Evermore.
- joehobbes, on 02/11/2008, -1/+2But Secret of Evermore isn't rare or valuable....
- MizuhoChan, on 02/11/2008, -2/+0Well I had a hard time finding it when I was looking for it. I only found one in a shop, the box was ruined and they didn't actually have the cart. I saw that box on the shelf for weeks before they took it down. Anyway, I had to pay the same I paid for Secret of Mana (£40) for a good boxed version, so I'd have thought it was rare.
- zeromous, on 02/11/2008, -1/+1That game didn't sell well, but let's face it's not particularly rare. It was a staple of bargain bins for years. Sounds like you didn't pick it up there either :)
- Scira, on 02/11/2008, -1/+1I used to have that but i lost it, it was an awesome game. I also used to have secret of mana, but that may have gotten traded.
- funkywood, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1Fails for lack of Xandra's Big Adventure. I can barely find reference to it on the internet it's that rare. Wish I'd bought it now.
- Nudar, on 02/12/2008, -0/+1Definitely an underrated game but not as rare as those listed.
- joehobbes, on 02/11/2008, -1/+2But Secret of Evermore isn't rare or valuable....
- antiorblkflag9, on 02/11/2008, -2/+2Still have Chrono Trigger and Donkey Kong Country
- Nudar, on 02/12/2008, -0/+1Donkey Kong Country is extremely common. The game they listed is the Competition cartridge which is much rarer and quite valuable. Basically, you could only get it by ordering it directly from Nintendo Power magazine.
- Namakemono, on 02/11/2008, -1/+1How about Space Megaforce or Axelay? Quite rare and some of the best shooters of all time.
- zeromous, on 02/11/2008, -2/+1*Yawn* ProFighterX 32X or even better emu!
/sarcasm
I have noticed lately how rare games have become vintage pron for people born in the 1970s :) - moletimer, on 02/11/2008, -1/+1I used to have a snes with a few of those games. Don't know what happened to them though : (
- billski, on 02/11/2008, -3/+1once it comes out on Nintendo virtual console they'll all be worthless.
still worth owning though- sloth15, on 02/11/2008, -0/+2Buried for contradiction.
Worthless, but worth owning? - joshmoney, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1Just like all the reproductions of the mona lisa made the original worthless?
- sloth15, on 02/11/2008, -0/+2Buried for contradiction.
- Ktog, on 02/11/2008, -0/+2I sold my Suikoden II for PSX for $200 and I regret it :( Pity party?
- reaper527, on 02/11/2008, -0/+2so how many diggers actually played DKC championship edition? i remember playing it in that blockbuster tournament so many years ago.
- shertzerj, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1I played it. I was in 1st place (locally) throughout most of the tournament, then got beat by somebody with like 2 days to go. Didn't get crap for 2nd place... don't think I ever got over that.
- Shippwreck87, on 02/11/2008, -0/+2I can't wait till a lot of these get put on the VC, I'm looking at you Earthbound! I know I could just download an emulator, but it just doesn't feel the same.
- removesstains, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1and it wouldn't feel the same on the VC either.
- aladrin, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1Apparently Harvest Moon is coming out on VC for the Wii. That should reduce the value of the cartidge a bit... At least for anyone who actually wants to -play- it. Most expensive cartridges go to collectors and not gamers, anyhow.
- diskit, on 02/11/2008, -0/+2Man I thought Earthbound was more rare than that.
I could never find it in stores, and this was back when SNES games were actually commonly sold.
I had to rent it a million times just to play the darn thing. - leerayIG88, on 02/11/2008, -1/+3Omg...I had these games as a KID and I sold them. Wow....can someone just punch me in the face?
- mattmcm, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1http://www1.istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_approve ...
- kiiwii, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1What's your address?
- shadowblade989, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1Woo I have something on that page. Unfortunately its just Kirby Super Star.
- solid12345, on 02/11/2008, -1/+4Somehow I doubt in 100 years people will be bringing their SNES carts to the Antiques Roadshow...
- digitallysick, on 02/11/2008, -0/+2lol but that would be funny though
- FotoGeek, on 02/11/2008, -0/+3I Just finished playing though Super Mario RPG again. Its one of my favorite games of all time, Id never sell it.
- Scira, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1Seeing this makes me think about subscribing to consoleclassix. I dunno if they are trustworthy though. And i dont know if i feel like paying for stuff either.
- NathanielJ, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1I'm surprised that Final Fantasy III (aka. FFVI) is only in the honorable mentions list. I remember not being able to find that game anywhere even back in the days of the SNES.
- DarkSamus, on 02/11/2008, -1/+2does anyone have a good version of weaponlord rom?
i got a few but they all have ***** up soundeffects, i need to hear
"Korr is Victorious!!"- frepnog, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1no rom, but i have the original cart. i like that game quite a bit.
- DarkSamus, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1that game really owns, a lot of people have never seen that game
- eyefone, on 02/12/2008, -0/+1Wow, I thought I was the only one to play that game, it was awesome, my first mature fighter. Divada > Korr
- frepnog, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1no rom, but i have the original cart. i like that game quite a bit.
- ssjasper2003, on 02/11/2008, -2/+2Killer instinct should be on there.
- americascynic, on 02/11/2008, -0/+078 cartridges found on eBay search as of right now, most expensive of which being $70, which includes an SNES system, 2 controllers, and one other game. = not valuable.
- digitallysick, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1Considering it came bundled with the snes , i highly doubt it
- Zippo, on 02/11/2008, -0/+3Go Kirby Super Star!
