- driftwood07, on 04/22/2009, -1/+296who here had the 1989 grey brick edition?
- jonglebeats, on 04/22/2009, -4/+101Holy crap, didn't know about the DS-looking "Game & Watch," very cool.
- slayerhk47, on 04/22/2009, -1/+92All i needed as a kid was a gameboy and pokemon red and blue.
So many lost hours..... - inactive, on 04/22/2009, -2/+77I was the lonely kid with a Gamegear.
I REGRET NOTHING! - 2007GT, on 04/22/2009, -0/+70Major diggs for that Persian Gulf War gameboy. I will never forget seeing that in Nintendo Power when I was a boy.
- Ricky138, on 04/22/2009, -1/+69Im still gladly rocking the Micro!
- Smokeydabear, on 04/22/2009, -0/+58Many mothers did that very thing. *****.
- merryalycen, on 04/22/2009, -0/+51I remember playing Kirby's Dreamland when I was supposed to be napping
Unfortunately my mom sold my Gameboy to Goodwill a few years back, without asking me first if I wanted to keep it... - Fhwqhgads, on 04/22/2009, -0/+43No Super Gameboy? The thing that plugs into the SNES so you can play on the TV.
- inactive, on 04/22/2009, -0/+34So many memories. I love this.
- MeatMountain, on 04/22/2009, -0/+32I found my original Gameboy in a drawer, I forgot how ***** huge it is. Its almost as big as a Wii.
- Spamcan, on 04/22/2009, -0/+32My favorite Game Boy/DS design is still the GBA SP, it kept the classic vertical Game Boy layout in a pocketable design without sacrificing screen size, comfort or backward compatibility like the micro.
- themastersb, on 04/22/2009, -0/+29Sold? More like just gave it away to add insult to injury.
- impur1ty, on 04/22/2009, -0/+26Didn't the original GBA SP have a front lit screen and not a back lit?
- itseffinkasey, on 04/22/2009, -0/+25I was playing Pokemon in the 5th grade and I'm now in my 3rd year of college. So no you are probably not a kid. Don't be a dick.
- K4Lic0, on 04/22/2009, -0/+24Dude! The Game Boy Micro is awesome, I still play that to this day, in fact I started a new game in Golden Sun a few days ago.
- RichMUrrills, on 04/22/2009, -0/+24What do you mean had? Still have one. I still have the Super Gameboy cart to play the games on my SNES as well somewhere!
- LordofChaosIori, on 04/22/2009, -0/+23I hate children too.
- Elranzer, on 04/22/2009, -0/+22Good thing it does. Its game library by itself is abysmal.
- CptGreencoat, on 04/22/2009, -0/+21"...an flash memory slot."
- nomadofthehills, on 04/22/2009, -0/+21Those of us who started playing Pokemon in third grade and are now in our third year of college ARE 21 *****.
- tehdave, on 04/22/2009, -0/+18Also a link cable, that is if you're gonna catch 'em all
- bakatrinh, on 04/22/2009, -1/+18Is that a 1989 Gameboy in your pocket? Or are you just happy to see me?
- plucas, on 04/22/2009, -0/+17It's a third pillar!
- TylerDuhrdan, on 04/22/2009, -4/+20Is it wrong to like the original style gameboy more than the DS?
- SSUK, on 04/22/2009, -0/+16Had one. Loved it. Super Mario Land went with me everywhere. I also had a Red Gameboy original when I asked for a "Gameboy Colour" one Birthday... Damn Nintendo and their parent trickery!
- smartnerd666, on 04/22/2009, -0/+15I was raised playing Dr. Mario on the '89 GameBoy
- itsgotime, on 04/22/2009, -0/+15I've still got my clear Game Boy and my yellow Game Boy color :)
- flydaddyophus, on 04/22/2009, -0/+15Its on display (and still working) at the Nintendo Store in NYC
- FoxOrian, on 04/22/2009, -0/+14I still have mine proudly displayed on my entertainment center's shelf.
I'm glad mine still works just fine, no dead rows of pixels or messed up speaker. - TheMu, on 04/22/2009, -0/+14I like how all the entries are well-written and then the last one is just a *****-up.
- cor315, on 04/22/2009, -0/+14Kirby's Dreamland was awesome
- holzy44, on 04/22/2009, -0/+14i picked mine up a few days ago and the nostalgia was epic
- leif77, on 04/22/2009, -0/+14Back when I had both red and blue i had prided myself in having all 150 and really tripped out when a friend of mine got mew from some sort of mail in nintendo power thing so when he cloned him and hooked me up i was ecstatic... a few days later my dog chewed up the very same cartridge that my fresh, barely used, mew was sitting on... needless to say I was pretty bummed...
/uselessanecdote - dmillthrill, on 04/22/2009, -0/+14Still own an original, and amazingly it still works after all these years :)
- UnPaddieTitled, on 04/22/2009, -0/+13Yes it did.
- nomadofthehills, on 04/22/2009, -0/+13Dugg for Golden Sun.
- ace429k, on 04/22/2009, -0/+12I first got a Gameboy Color and Pokemon Blue. First video game system I bought. It was amazing! I must have put 400 hours into that game. One time when I was young I played from sun up to sun down. Even after all these years with newer systems I dont think I've even come close to putting all the hours I put on a Gameboy into those other ones.
- Philbert, on 04/22/2009, -0/+12It said "gameboy timeline". Nothing about portable.
- Tonicks, on 04/22/2009, -0/+12Pokemon is a solid game. Forget the craze and hype around all that other *****--the game was a great RPG.
- andrewlotta, on 04/22/2009, -0/+12I used scotch tape as a battery cover.
- inactive, on 04/22/2009, -0/+12well lost hours.
- mctom987, on 04/22/2009, -0/+11Jan 1981 - Dec 1982 is close enough to 2 years. (:
We don't know the months, so it's hard to tell. But, yes it does seem to be conflicting. - veriix, on 04/22/2009, -1/+12It's not definitive, it's not even correct. The GBA SP had front-lighting when it was first released then they released a back-light version in 2005.
- DanteDefiance, on 04/22/2009, -0/+11Agree! It's the best way to carry a 50 hour epic RPG around. Just put it in your pocket and forget about it. Shame it sold so poorly.
- Jtizzle07, on 04/22/2009, -0/+10PSP is basically a portable ps1 and a half
- Lasereth, on 04/22/2009, -0/+10SP is the best designed and most comfortable out of all of them. I totally agree.
- Smokeydabear, on 04/22/2009, -0/+10And Gameboy Advance is still very popular. Gameboy SP's are still 50 or so bucks on ebay. I am still playing Final Fantasy 6 on mine. Good times.
- SMOKIEdaBEAR04, on 04/22/2009, -0/+10I've got the original still. I almost sold it to a friend awhile back, but soon remembered all the great times I had mastering Tetris!
- gbarger, on 04/22/2009, -1/+11My parents bought one for me for Christmas of 1989. I was only 8, and I had no idea what it was. I remember being confused at the time and my mom tried to explain to me how to play tetris. I was having an asthma attack so I was sitting on the floor of the bathroom with the shower on hot to get some steam in the air to help me breathe. Thus began my obsession with videogames that unfortunately still hasn't stopped and culminated in spending a tremendous amount of time building my arcade machine. I guess my parents were ahead of the times since they knew about a gaming system I hadn't heard of.
