- linuxrocks2007, on 01/04/2008, -3/+81No Ocarina of Time? Come on, I don't need to explain myself here.
- paintpro, on 01/04/2008, -1/+46Where is Super Metroid?
And I second Ocarina of Time, which changed the way I looked at video games. From then on it was a lifestyle and not just entertainment. - felman87, on 01/04/2008, -0/+35We need Earthbound and Super Mario RPG!!
- plethorex, on 01/04/2008, -1/+33It's only the #1 rated game OF ALL TIME.
- inactive, on 01/04/2008, -1/+3216 ? Not 10 or 20 ?
* Head explodes * - Puppetfunk, on 01/04/2008, -0/+28I LOVED Pokemon Snap. But all my friends hated it. I thought I was alone.
- breathofwater, on 01/04/2008, -1/+27everyone check out bubble bobble
great game only 500 points, just came out - inactive, on 01/04/2008, -0/+21Nintendo needs to take a lesson from Microsoft and start "updating" these games. Xbox Live Arcade has the right idea - sell the original game but with upgrades like leaderboards, online play, and (optional) updated graphics. Nostalgia only lasts so long on these VC games, give us a little something extra to play with. I know I had a ton of fun playing online with my buddies in the original Doom on Xbox Live.
- Pillage, on 01/04/2008, -0/+20When are they getting GoldenEye?
- RidiculousHat, on 01/04/2008, -0/+16Not including Punch-Out!!! or Super Metroid is criminal.
- aschocobo, on 01/04/2008, -0/+14maybe because mario kart snes isn't(as of yet) on the vc..
- error792, on 01/04/2008, -0/+14Super Mario RPG was simply amazing. It was a really interesting direction from the series - fighting with Bowser on YOUR side?! It also had pretty damn good graphics for the time IMHO. But all that aside, the game was just plain fun. The mini-games were fantastic, the dialogue was hilarious - I still consider it better than 90% of the games on the market today, even if you were to take into account all the snazzy stuff you can do on the new consoles. Nintendo needs to bring back the characters from this game!!!
- sgtpppr, on 01/04/2008, -0/+10I think this just happens to be a list of VC games this blogger purchased. Ocarina of Time is easily one of the best games ever made.
- SonicEarth, on 01/04/2008, -1/+11Where the hell was Sonic the Hedgehog 2? Where the hell were any Sonic games for that matter?
- sougly, on 01/04/2008, -0/+10I loved it, too -- but I've never told anyone till now.
- Kallahan, on 01/04/2008, -0/+92^4
- msergeant, on 01/04/2008, -2/+10Right after pinkeye.
- SeriusBlac, on 01/04/2008, -1/+9Ocarina of Time doesn't need to be on the list because any real Zelda fan should have the Collection disc for the GameCube.
- mattmoto, on 01/04/2008, -0/+8No Sin and Punishment? It's the only VC game I've bought, because it's the only readily available English translation of the game. Most of the other games can be found elsewhere with relative ease.
- GalacticXenu, on 01/04/2008, -1/+9I agree that A Link to the Past was better than Ocarina of Time. OoT was a great game, don't get me wrong, but there really is something -perfect- about A Link to the Past. Way more exploration. The Light-Dark world concept was done brilliantly. Soundtrack was very pleasant, the dungeons rarely boring, the bosses all fun to play against. I had this game when I was a kid and I absolutely loved it and played it for hours and hours. By comparison, I beat OoT starting from the beginning on a rental.
What would be really fun? An MMO done in the style of Zelda. And don't say GraalOnline. - themastersb, on 01/04/2008, -0/+8I thought Super Mario Galaxy took that title.
- dood, on 01/04/2008, -0/+7When can we buy and then vote Earthbound as #17? C'mon Nintendo. :-)
- Elranzer, on 01/04/2008, -0/+7Yeah, from Official PlayStation Magazine.
- GalacticXenu, on 01/04/2008, -0/+6And in A Link to The Past, there was hardly any character interaction to speak of, yet the exploration was far better, better than any Zelda game, and the game just felt so much less non-linear and there were so much more things to discover. Despite its few shortcomings A Link to the Past was the best Zelda of all.
- kotatsu, on 01/04/2008, -0/+6No Gunstar Heroes.... this article fails I'm afraid.
- StriderNemesis, on 01/04/2008, -0/+6That list is full of failure. Where are Contra III and Super Metroid?
- lintmonkey, on 01/04/2008, -1/+6Or working out the licensing issues with Rare so we can get Battletoads already?
- matx, on 01/04/2008, -1/+6These games just make me really want to buy a wii now.
- serpentor, on 01/04/2008, -1/+6FTA: "I'm going to be extremely controversial here and call Mario Kart 64 the best Mario Kart game on consoles."
Bold statement, but I'll agree. Kart64 rocked the house. - inactive, on 01/04/2008, -0/+4It's out for Gamecube in a compilation disc. The Wii can play gamecube titles, so it doesn't really need to be on the VC.
By the time you wait for it to come out, if it even does, you coulda just headed to Gamestop and picked up the compilation pack. - grumbel, on 01/04/2008, -0/+4Twice actually, since WindWaker included Ocarina as well.
- inactive, on 01/04/2008, -0/+4I once suggested that to some friend. A month long argument ensued over whether or not it'd /really/ be Zelda if you controlled a Goron all the time.
- potterboy, on 01/04/2008, -0/+4Agreed.
- Jak08, on 01/04/2008, -1/+5I want to know. Am I the only person who can get through Super Mario World in less than 15 minutes but have trouble getting past the third level in "The Lost Levels"?
- daliminator, on 01/04/2008, -0/+4A few months ago I decided I needed to play Super Mario RPG - badly. Alas, I lost my cartridge somehow (pretty sure a friend actually stole it a looong time ago). I've resorted to playing on an emulator. When you're desperate for an old-school gaming fix and too cheap to get another legit copy, it's a pretty easy way to play almost any game you want.
SNES9X kicks ass, btw. And just search for a ROM on Google...you'll find it quickly =P - AwesomeAndy, on 01/04/2008, -0/+4Lost Levels was specifically designed to make little Japanese children cry.
- yohnstoppable, on 01/05/2008, -0/+4To those who buried me, sorry for the misleading comment. Wasn't saying "revolutionary my ass" to say it wasn't. I was trying to say how revolutionary a game is doesn't matter, and I'm more interested in how fun a game is.
- nshady, on 01/04/2008, -0/+4Or, you know, could actually own it for N64.
- Youowemelunch, on 01/04/2008, -0/+3That is one crappy list.
- Shawn4168, on 01/04/2008, -0/+3Dugg for Bomberman '93. Maybe not the most refined game out there, but it's definitely the game that I've gotten my money's worth on. I've had countless nights with my friends playing 5 player mode on that game for hours at a time.
- mhuggins, on 01/04/2008, -1/+4Dugg for Toe Jam & Earl. One of the best -- if not THE best -- Sega Genesis games ever.
- daridave, on 01/04/2008, -0/+3Ouch buddy, you could really start a huge argument with such a claim. Personally I'd have to say they're both excellent [if not perfect], each on their 2D/3D sides respectively... I found Ocarina of Time to be way more Epic, but if I had to replay one of them today, I would probably go with LttP. It's infinitively fun, I will just NEVER get tired of that game... for that reason, it's very hard to pick one...
- AwesomeAndy, on 01/04/2008, -0/+3There's lots of games on both GC compilations and VC. Doesn't stop people from buying the VC version. Plus it means not having to worry about memory cards and GC controllers. Especially now that the Wavebird's been discontinued.
- Sparebear75, on 01/04/2008, -0/+3I want Bubble Bobble
- DNABeast, on 01/04/2008, -0/+3Oh Lord. Please try out Dragon's Curse. It's the best 2d slasher game ever and the puzzles are perfect.
- AwesomeAndy, on 01/04/2008, -0/+3And they would be wrong.
- ADWestCo, on 01/04/2008, -1/+4Super Metroid rocks!
- error792, on 01/04/2008, -3/+6Windwaker was pretty fantastic, and Twilight Princess is really good. But even with the freeform sailing, the swordfighting action, the experience of playing with the Wii remote - they're missing something OOT and MM had: a connection with the characters. In the later games, the side-quests are interesting, but ultimately you're only doing them to get something. With OOT and MM, the characters had personality, and you could start to feel like you knew them and cared about them.
- inactive, on 01/04/2008, -0/+3You can post the pictures to the message board but cant save on SD.
- ThatguyKS, on 01/04/2008, -0/+3DO A BARREL ROLL!!!!!
