- manlyandy, on 06/02/2009, -4/+91Mario Galaxy I'd say was a pretty easy game, but what really stood out is that it was just plain fun. Sometimes fun gets overlooked when trying to get the best new innovative game out there.
- Geordae, on 06/02/2009, -4/+71Super Mario Galaxy is one of the best games I've played in quite sometime, I'm excited for the sequel.
- billjimbob, on 06/02/2009, -3/+43Can't wait for this and the new Metroid game they announced. I was also hoping for Zelda for Wii, but 2 out of 3 isn't bad. Nintendo needs to take it easy with the Mario franchise, though - I counted FOUR new Mario games announced. I didn't see any new IPs that looked interesting.
I just wish Nintendo would finally make an enjoyable online experience. Their entire press conference was about appealing to a broad market, yet they still rely on friend codes, which is about the least user-friendly thing I have ever used. - davidw00t, on 06/02/2009, -1/+33I wanted Super Mario UNIVERSE damnit!
- weratestuff, on 06/02/2009, -2/+31Get that trailer up ASAP!
- inactive, on 06/02/2009, -3/+30From beginning to end, there was not single second of Super Mario Galaxy where I wasn't having an absolute blast. Why the hell is everyone bitching that this is a "rehash"? You don't ***** with perfection. Why the hell not have a whole new game with all new worlds to explore built on the same basic concept of the original, when the original worked so well and my only complaint was that it eventually had to end?
- BlueSkyfish, on 06/02/2009, -2/+24"I call ***** for taking so long to release a game using a completed engine from it's 2007 prequel."
Heh, I guess you never heard of a little company called Valve. - fishbeef33, on 06/02/2009, -0/+21Yes, shame on them for not rushing a new product out to market instead of focusing on quality of gameplay. I mean, it's treated Sonic the Hedgehog so well over the years to do so.
Oh wait... - darkNiGHTS, on 06/02/2009, -2/+23Nintendo always releases a bunch of Mario games, this is nothing new. All four Mario games revealed are very different though. While Mario vs. DK is a platformer, it's nothing like a normal Mario Platformer, it involves puzzles and shorter levels. New Super Mario Bros. Wii is more of a traditional Mario 2D platformer except with 3D models and Super Mario Galaxy 2 is a 3D platformer. And the other Mario game being released is an RPG. So I don't really see a problem with that, it's not like they are expanding their Mario spinoffs, all those games are sequels to places that mario has already gone.
- BlueSkyfish, on 06/02/2009, -2/+21"I counted FOUR new Mario games announced"
But they were all completely different games from each other. Would you feel better if they changed the characters and the name? - fognozzle, on 06/02/2009, -0/+16Nintendo are perfectionists. Ocarina of Time was supposed to be released alongside the N64. It ended up showing up, what, 2 years later? And you know what? It was worth the wait.
- darkNiGHTS, on 06/02/2009, -4/+19You're kidding, right? While it has a similar art style, it has a lot of entirely new concepts and all new level design.
- Renton, on 06/02/2009, -7/+22Did you ever play Super Mario Galaxy? It was mostly navigating around series of small planets. This one looks like a mix of that and traditional flat world playing like in Super Mario 64 or Sunshine. Plus, we don't know much about the additional changes they're adding. I saw Mario riding Yoshi in one shot.
- Shadic, on 06/02/2009, -1/+15The new Metroid game? The Conduit?
- Shadic, on 06/02/2009, -1/+15Or just the trailer itself:
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-09-super-mari ... - AZRoboto, on 06/02/2009, -0/+14There was barely any waggle in that game
- funkyp56, on 06/02/2009, -0/+14Yoshi is a BAD ASSSSSSS!
- whatthefu, on 06/02/2009, -0/+13As far as I'm concerned the "Mario franchise" is the main string of games, going back to Galaxy, Sunshiny, Mario 64, etc. The rest have the brand but are different genres or on different platforms.
- rand21althor, on 06/02/2009, -0/+12Nintendo has New Super Mario Bros. Wii slated for a release later this year, and they like to spread out releases of their major titles. So a 2010 release for this is expected.
- Deputydon, on 06/02/2009, -5/+15SMG2 made it to the front page of digg before the awesome footage that is Metroid: Other M?
Sigh. - darkNiGHTS, on 06/02/2009, -1/+11Dead Space?
- rand21althor, on 06/02/2009, -0/+9Looks like everything that made the first Galaxy so great plus Yoshi. Can't wait.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 06/02/2009, -0/+9Go ahead and point and laugh at them. They won't see you since they're completely buried in giant piles of money.
- mizatt, on 06/02/2009, -0/+9You call *****? ***** on what? I don't think you understand what calling ***** means
- emjaymj, on 06/03/2009, -0/+8For the most part it was quite easy but man, I must have retried that purple coin level with the disappearing squares like 100 times. Once I got to that level with Luigi though, it was actually quite easy.
I had a blast with the whole game but I really felt like that whole "Luigi will be more difficult because the world is built for Mario" to be a load of crap. The extra sliding was very easy to manage, and being able to jump higher and further not only made everything easier, it actually lent itself to a lot of shortcuts so that you could skip chunks of some levels.
That being said, I haven't had as much fun with a game in years as I've had with Mario Galaxy. The fact that, after 100%'ing the game with Mario, I went and IMMEDIATELY did it all again with Luigi is a testament to this. I usually find it tedious to not only play such a long game twice, but to 100% a game as well. Hell, most games these days I get bored with and find myself never even bothering to finish them once (and I'm talking the bare minimum that's required to "beat" the game.)
So I'm definitely looking forward to this.. - simon182, on 06/02/2009, -3/+11I was hoping for a new Zelda. Twilight princess was the reason I bought a Wii in the first place.
- Tonicks, on 06/02/2009, -0/+8Either you are opposed to fun or had a horrible childhood.
- Shadic, on 06/02/2009, -0/+8Of course with the only frontpage submission I have in years, Kotaku goes down.
- Eurynom0s, on 06/02/2009, -0/+8If you had typed "Mario PARTY" I would have agreed with you. But you didn't. So I don't.
- Shadic, on 06/02/2009, -0/+8....Metroid?
- fishbeef33, on 06/02/2009, -0/+7Agreed, but I do think the original was a tad too easy and linear. If they can boost the challenge a smidge and add more hidden pathways like a new Star Road and some Switch Palaces, it'll be golden.
- heysuburbia, on 06/02/2009, -1/+8Higher Quality Video + 25 screens:
http://www.wiinintendo.net/2009/06/02/new-mario-ga ... - mywhitenoise, on 06/02/2009, -3/+10The best announcement was the Vitality Sensor.
- Jake10, on 06/02/2009, -0/+7Just the Trailer, but on the Yow Tubby!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AL-rMCCa9ro - ShootTheCore, on 06/02/2009, -1/+8Super Mario Galaxy is my favorite game ever. I don't care who knows it : D

- damack, on 06/02/2009, -0/+7To be honest I'm surprised at so many positive comments on this vid.
Nintendo don't get a lot of love on online forums and Digg etc.
Having said that I suppose thats a good thing. Few things that are popular in the intrawebs do well in the real world.
This could be part of the reason Nintendo Wii destroys it opponents for another year assuming it does what its done since the last E3 to the competition. - j4nj1m3n3z, on 06/02/2009, -5/+11They gave a Mario Galaxy Announcement but they needed a Zelda Announcement.
- mattharvey716, on 06/02/2009, -1/+7this is great, it looks like a HUGE improvement on an already amazing game. The larger explorable flat areas will be nice to mix up the game play a bit. Not to mention the graphics is eye candy
- darkNiGHTS, on 06/02/2009, -1/+7Your point? You said that none of the presentation will appeal to non-wii fans. Fans of rail shooters that don't have a Wii definitely fit that category...
- Strongo, on 06/02/2009, -0/+6oh man i love internet fights...
- Shadic, on 06/02/2009, -3/+8How do you know that they started it immediately after Galaxy 1 came out? And it was a short trailer, they're not going to spoil all of the new features in 40 seconds.
- darkNiGHTS, on 06/02/2009, -0/+5True. But the reason why you buy a Nintendo system is to play Nintendo games. That's how it is now and that's probably how it's going to be.
- fishbeef33, on 06/02/2009, -0/+5Are you kidding? SMG was the one game where waggling was actually fun! I loved making Mario spin and kill enemies just by flicking my wrist!
- Jake10, on 06/02/2009, -0/+5He's got balls of steel.
- masrabel, on 06/02/2009, -0/+5You know you can always expect something new from Nintendo. So in my mind this was just a teaser, there's still at least a year before the game comes out so we're gonna discover more about it for sure.
- blackjack06, on 06/02/2009, -1/+5I'm very excited for this! but I was also hoping for a Super Smash Bros game on the DS...
- fishbeef33, on 06/03/2009, -0/+4You're basing this on a two-minute demo for a game that still has another year in development. Besides, why completely reinvent the wheel when the first Galaxy was so great? I'm sure there will be plenty of new things to see while still paying homage to Mario's history. Don't like it? Learn to develop games and get hired by Nintendo.
- fishbeef33, on 06/02/2009, -0/+4I think they covered that with New Super Mario Bros Wii.
