- djpray2k, on 02/09/2009, -0/+12Better games coming out on the DS than the Wii in 2009.

Dragon Quest IX: Protectors of the Starry Sky
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars
Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure
Infinite Space

Phantasy Star Zero

Rhythm Heaven
Scribblenauts - bcool, on 02/09/2009, -1/+9Why is there no Zombies Ate My Neighbors for the ds? I'd love to see more snes remakes like chrono trigger. That said, I'm excited for GTA too.
Oh and what about the new puzle quest? - Divals, on 02/09/2009, -2/+10This list needs more Atlus. They have several major titles coming out this spring, including Legacy of Ys books 1&2, Devil Survivor, and Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier.
...yes, I'm an Atlus fan. They makes the games that make me poor. Or localize them, anyway. - manzi, on 02/09/2009, -0/+7It's sadly true.
- ursername180, on 02/09/2009, -2/+8I've been playing the Japanese Rhythm Heaven for over a year now on my DS. I fully encourage everyone who has a DS to purchase it when it becomes localised.
- Terasiel, on 02/09/2009, -1/+7Nearly every day. I love my RPGs.
- skywake, on 02/09/2009, -1/+6I picked up Trackmania a few weeks ago, intend on picking up Chrono Trigger today and possibly Big Bang Mini if its cheap. I still haven't picked up Professor Layton or Kirby Super Star Ultra (and probably won't unless I see them for less than $50AU) and there are still games like GTA, Mario & Luigi 3 and Scribblenauts on the way. I will probably not end up getting half of them because there are simply too many games to choose from.
So in short.... yes. - Khast, on 02/09/2009, -1/+6I am looking forward to Legacy of Ys Book I and II personally...
- mikeyeah, on 02/09/2009, -0/+4What a ***** list! They didn't include the new Fire Emblem game.
- Jelga, on 02/09/2009, -0/+4Dugg for Turnabout Prosecutor. Really hope that games comes out in the US.
- Borgcube, on 02/09/2009, -1/+5Oh, yes, I can definitely see how that has anything to do with the article.
- rehrer, on 02/09/2009, -0/+3rephrase: Most Wanted: [Good] DS Games [in] 2009.
- TheWilder, on 02/09/2009, -0/+3A remake of Zombies Ate My Neighbors would be amazing.
- Myztry, on 02/09/2009, -1/+4It's good when there are game that represent good value for money. Unfortunately I lost so much money on overpriced throwaway games that I had to go over to the Edge to reclaim that value.
The console manufacturers have control of what games are available on their console and under what terms. If they participate in obtaining money through deception (false and misleading marketing is fraud) then they justly devalue their own platform.
Which is a shame because good games are worth good money. - Terasiel, on 02/09/2009, -2/+5I have about ... Oh, nearly thirty DS games. Not a one was a waste of money. I'm looking forward to Dragon Quest V and IX like you wouldn't believe. Playing through Chrono Trigger again like I did way back on the SNES. Using Japanese Coach. Still enjoying my Japanese Bleach DS. I've even pulled out Kirby and Tony Hawk just to revisit the things that made the DS worth every penny.
I look forward to using my DS for years to come and have no worries that it will still be entertaining a decade from now.
That doesn't mean I don't use my PSP; just not as much as my DS at the moment. There's only so much Disgaea I can stand at the moment. Which is pretty much the only game I have on the PSP I'm still playing. - jerrycan, on 02/09/2009, -1/+4The DS is the best thing that ever happened to my 45 minute train ride and from work each day. I'm gaming more than a grade schooler....
- Terasiel, on 02/09/2009, -0/+3Oh I beg to differ on the FPS. The DS is well suited for those. Metroid Prime Hunters alone proved that. You may want to look into Dementium.
- ShadySpace, on 02/09/2009, -0/+3There's a pretty solid rumor going around that Gauntlet DS got cancelled. Sorry dude.
- Vanor, on 02/09/2009, -0/+3I've been playing Dragon Quest IV and Tales of Hearts, and the former is surprisingly good, while the latter is pretty damn fun despite my total inability to comprehend the Japanese language. More game systems need to not have region coding *****, it'd make it easier to enjoy games that never get released over here.
- BrokenVisage, on 02/09/2009, -1/+4Elite Beat Agents and The World Ends With You are still the only 2 games I IMPLORE everyone with a DS to try/buy.
- LOGNATR, on 02/09/2009, -1/+4No Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon? Dragon Quest V? Suikoden: Tierkreis? Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume? Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time?
- Oktoeatfish, on 02/09/2009, -1/+4I am ready for a MarioRPG 2. I would buy the ***** out of that game.
- ace429k, on 02/09/2009, -3/+6personally I love the DS. my friend let me barrow his since my 360 died and i played it non stop. Kirby is great!
- blankoboy, on 02/09/2009, -0/+3Ugh! http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/04/rumor-gauntlet-d ... =(
- Zippo, on 02/09/2009, -1/+4If you guys didn't get yourself a copy of Kirby Super Star Ultra last year, for the love of god, do so at your earliest convenience.
- Kali075, on 02/09/2009, -1/+4Phantasy Star Zero Please!
-does grabby hand- - Vanor, on 02/09/2009, -0/+2Same. I bought Luminous Arc 2 and Etrian Odyssey 2 last year. Amazing games. This year looks to be even better for Atlus fans all-around, nevermind the DS.
- yeaidigg, on 02/10/2009, -0/+2where's the new puzzle quest??
- CynicSight, on 02/09/2009, -1/+3I know the fad has come and passed, but I still have always wanted another Pokemon Snap game. That game was awesome.
- LoneWolf01, on 02/09/2009, -1/+3Out of curiousity, how do you find Trackmania for the DS? It's one of my favourite time-killing games on the PC.
- heysuburbia, on 02/10/2009, -0/+2How bout' the new (newly available) music synth game, KORG DS-10!
http://www.wiinintendo.net/2009/02/09/korg-ds-10-a ... - Splutterbug, on 02/09/2009, -1/+3Can't wait for all of them, great list
- skywake, on 02/09/2009, -1/+3@LoneWolf01
The Good:
-looks good for a DS game and runs really smooth
-there are plenty of local multi-player modes (although I haven't tried it yet)
-plenty of tracks + track editor
-platformer + time trail + "puzzle" modes which are all good
-is cheap (I picked it up for $30AU, other DS games here retail for $50-70AU)
The Bad:
-no online modes
-no racing against your own ghost (only gold, silver and bronze times)
The Ugly:
-a little bit buggy at times (i.e. can fall through track after a big jump sometimes) - frepnog, on 02/09/2009, -0/+2"The DS isn't a PSP."
no *****, sherlock. he said "portable GTA", not DS GTA. There were two damn good portable GTA games on the PSP, and anyone that says those games sucked obviously did not play them, since they were ***** awesome. There has not been a GTA game native to the DS yet. The only portable ones were the PSP versions and some lackluster crap on the other older gameboys. Granted, the DS is not quite capable of PSP graphics, but if it can pull off something quite similar to the original GTA 1 and 2 on PC (which it can), the game will be pretty damn good. - blankoboy, on 02/09/2009, -1/+3If well done: Gauntlet (so very tired of the constant delays...it better be worth the wait!)
I would also like to see some well done Zombie action type game (not FPS as the DS cannot handle these well. Top down would be fine by me! I want a survival game along the lines of Dawn of the dead). - Khast, on 02/09/2009, -0/+2Actually the PSP seems to be dying, you might want to see their release list for 2009...so far only ~14 games announced for 2009?! Oh well, at least you can listen to music, watch movies, and surf for porn while you wait for something good to come out.
- Borgcube, on 02/09/2009, -1/+3Where's Kingdom Hearts?
- Borgcube, on 02/09/2009, -1/+3Well, there's a lot of titles they haven't mention, Kingdom Hearts comes to mind for example of the top of my head, Professor Layton etc.
Anyway, the system most definitely isn't dead. - frepnog, on 02/09/2009, -0/+2paper mario was NOT Super Mario RPG 2. Not in any way, shape or form. Super Mario RPG was Square at their best, and I would give SO much if they would re-release it for the DS in the same way CronoTrigger was done.
- nonpromqueen, on 02/12/2009, -0/+2Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Echoes of Time!
- chokeaduck, on 02/09/2009, -0/+1I think they will call it Miles Edgeworth: Perfect Prosecutor, or at least I read that somewhere. And yes, it will be localized, the Ace Attorney series is popular stateside. I hope it brings about a renaissance of Point and Click adventures, as the episodic Sam and Max series has started.
- dragon76, on 02/09/2009, -0/+1I looked at some of the screen shots and thought, "It's not that much better-looking than my Turbo Duo version" but then I read it's actually a top-down 3D remake. I may pick it up now.
- Falkon, on 02/09/2009, -0/+1Several of those came out last year (in japan) too. The only ones I think didn't are the last two.
- Art3Zero, on 03/01/2009, -0/+1Phantasy Star Zero
Dragon Quest XI: Protectors of the Starry Sky
Scribblenauts
These are the only games I have interest in, on this list. - dixhuit, on 02/09/2009, -1/+2Buried for 2 pages that could have soooo easily been 1.
Flaps. - Falkon, on 02/09/2009, -0/+1Because it came out in japan last year is all I can figure. (Same with Suikoden, etc.)
- Falkon, on 02/09/2009, -0/+1Most definitely dugg for Gyakuten Kenji and Scribblenauts. The rest is icing on the cake, really.
