Trying to figure out the Zelda line is extremely complicated. Frankly it is complicated a way that only the Japanese could do and I love it.

    More abstract-cubist
    • spectre_25gt, on 02/08/2008, -1/+2Abstract-Cubist doesn't fit. Firstly, Abstract really isn't a good way to classify visual imagery. Abstract refers to conceptual art and that can refer to a broad range of styles. It'd definitely not Cubist. Cubism refers to multiple angles of view being combined into a single representation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cubism

      This is pure postmodernism (an ironic term in itself). They're taking multiple stylistic influences, mostly dating from the Renaissance and juxtaposing them with the blocky visuals of the 8-bit era. On top of that, they're layering distorted imagery that I can't easily classify, but has shown up often in these sorts of images.

    I really enjoyed Bionic Commando, and Trojan (obscure Capcom game) but I dont think people would recognize them...

    i could take it even more old school... bring back some Commodore 64 stuff...
