- dugbay, on 10/11/2007, -1/+61this seems odd that we know about SMG and SSB in 07 and hear of nothing of Kart and its going to be realeased in 07.
- cozamonkey, on 10/11/2007, -4/+42In that case, I am soooo glad I don't live in Europe.
- tehpwnrate, on 10/11/2007, -4/+37Make it like 64, NOT DOUBLE DASH!
- Azimuth1, on 10/11/2007, -1/+26"Mario Kart for the Wii will be a "replacement" for Super Smash Bros. Brawl in Europe, which will sadly miss Europe this year, and it will be out early 2008 instead."
...God damn. - reddevil3, on 10/11/2007, -0/+22Please put RUMOR in the title. This is not confirmed or anything, and seems highly unlikely considering how less than 6 months are left in 2007 and we have no info on Mario Kart.
Buried. - R3Dirkulous, on 10/11/2007, -1/+20well saying its coming out in 2007 is a pretty big deal
- doshindude, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15E3 is in a few days, remember.
- deltaandroid, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15Its really a bad idea IMO to release Metroid Prime, Super Smash, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Strikers, Mario Kart in the last half of the year for Nintendo. Sure, we'll be happy, but I think Nintendo will suffer from competition amongst itself
- IdanE, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15dugbay: Nintendo has a history of pulling games out of thin air a few months before release - they did it several times, especially during the N64 days.
Add to that the fact that they have stated that they want to grab the 5-95 age group, it all makes perfect sense:
1. Metroid Prime for the hardcore gamers mostly.
2. Mario Galaxies to please all the fanboys, and probably anyone who picks it up (it's a Mario game - They're always great).
3. Battalion Wars 2 - mostly a niche title, but then, it covers another base.
4. Wii Music - same girlfriend/parents/kids appeal as with Wii sports/play
5. SSBM - pretty much anyone with the console, and if online play is in (I really don't recall it being announced as an online title) the online crowd.
6. Mario Kart - racing players, series veterans, online gamers (this has to be online - if the DS version was, so will this).
In essence it really rounds up the 1st party profile - something for everyone. MK could be replaced with an F-Zero game, or maybe even the DK jet game, but Mario Kart really has more appeal than the other racers.
Overall - if it's ready, it'll probably be launched during the holiday season. - victoryroadrage, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14I call shenanigans!!
Nintendo releasing a major first game within months of an announce is a little hard to swallow. Remember when Smash Bros. Brawl was supposed to be a launch title? - doshindude, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12Um, MK is just so Europe gets something until Brawl comes out. Europe usually gets games last. Brawl is probably coming out in Japan (2007), then the US (2007), then Europe (early 2008). Mario Kart should just be to hold them off until they get it.
- laurentlasalle, on 10/11/2007, -2/+13Rumor != News
- mywhitenoise, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10ha, yeah...because Nintendo is failing that department.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/11/2007, -1/+101 game a month isn't bad.
Besides, most people don't want Strikers. - lebe0024, on 10/11/2007, -14/+23I'd rather have cart then brawl. On gamecube, I played Double Dash way more than Super Smash Brothers
- ihascheezburger, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Yeah, I think its weird too. We've known about SSB for a long time; but I've heard nothing about Kart until today.
- danielrh9, on 10/11/2007, -13/+20Sounds like fanboy rambling to me. But the fact that there will be a Mario Kart for Wii isn't exactly big news. That's like saying that there will be another Madden game next year.
- AlmostEvil, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Because Nintendo are now swimming in cash from Wii sales (as well as DS sales) they can afford to put some seriously large amounts of money and people into their games, which will mean decreased development time more than likely.
- seneyr, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Huh?
Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64 were both released within a year of their respective systems. Mario Kart Super Circuit was practically a launch title for the GBA. Double Dash hit the cube pretty quickly as well. I have no idea of what you're talking about. - doshindude, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Yeah really, I did not like double dash much....MK64 was the friggin best in the series with MKDS shortly behind it.
- CannedMango, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7... with the controls of the future!
- matthewf01, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7Heyyy, that's great.
Congratulations, *****. - burrito4891, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Yeah I think though they are trying to learn their lessons from gamecube. Which is.. dont release 2 great games a year and expect your fans to stick with you. What they need is to build up the user base by releasing a bunch of hits then once you've got 15 million Wii's sold, 3rd parties would be STUPID to not shift resources.
- Devrdander, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Until the next firmware update rolls out and bricks your console. Welcome to the world of always online consoles, and mandatory software updates for games to function. Good luck with that.
- loudthing, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I wouldn't trust an article written by "Mike Jackson"
- Namesbond, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Mario Kart is better. Get a modchip and play both.
- razmig, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I don't know about you but I really got a kick out of both Pikmin games and feel it'd work well on a Wii. Plus there is a new Donkey Kong in the works? we'll see how that goes.
- Klarth, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5I ctrl-f'd your name and, hey, surprise surprise here you are trolling another Nintendo story.
Get a life, *****. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Actually the worst part is the universe will probably implode on itself from so much happiness.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4If you actually read the article, the rumor states that EUROPE will get Mario Kart in 2007 but not get Brawl until 2008, while the US will get Brawl in 2007 but as a trade-off, will not get Mario Kart until 2008. Which is possible, I guess, but in any case, it's all still an unconfirmed rumor.
- beckerist, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Apparently American pride is not something to brag about anymore..?!?
- defectDS, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I tend to play double dash a lot more than Super Smash Bros on the GCN. It's mostly because when I have friends over I don't want to sit around and wait for them while they learn how to play Melee. I just want to play, and double dash has little to no learning curve at all. I love all of the Mario Karts.
- checkabeedat, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Im happy to live in europe.
- McTendo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4No one cares. Bitch got blocked.
- directive0, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Can I buy pot from you?
- matthewf01, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Yea they were actually trying that out.
..........Then they cancelled it.
http://wii.ign.com/articles/796/796612p1.html - ausfahrt, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I almost hope it doesn't ... give them more time to make it better.
- R3Dirkulous, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4I dunno though man, itll move a hell of a lot of consoles.
- Dracker, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Not necessarily. Wii modchips have some trouble playing both PAL and NTSC games on the same console.
Especially those that tack on a firmware update. - thenewkasanova, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3"isn't 2007 now?" Yes, it is. "they have till January!" Good work!
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Yeah, and then everyone can complain about how Nintendo keeps rehashing their old games instead of coming up with new gameplay dynamics and going in new directions like they did with Double Dash. Great plan.
- spwpi10, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3I cannot wait for strikers. that game on the gamecube was so much fun to play. and playing online now will be great
- SeBBBe, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Really? I live in Europe and I'm not pissed. I'm just glad my Wii's chipped.
- AcePup, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3If this is true, I really hope they try to go multiplayer with this and deal away with the friend codes which is supposedly happening with the Wii version of Madden, until than Super Mario Kart for the SNES for the win!
- Mrstupid7, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2The battle did suck in Double Dash, but I think the racing was a bit better than 64.
- modifiedbears, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4This is a ***** rumor coming from just another blog. I swear if a digg articled called "The sky is green" made it to the front page some of you would take it as truth and not look outside.
- aywwts4, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Yeah, I almost HOPE this is coming out in 2008 or 2009 so nintendo will have their wifi act together by then.
Mario cart with the motion controls will be great. - Mrstupid7, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Personally, I think Mario Kart is better than Smash Brothers, but I've never been a fan of fighters. Smash Brothers IS fun though.
- Mrstupid7, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3You're joking right? Please, please tell me you're joking. At least Nintendo will keep franchises fresh with gameplay changes and improvements while most other sequels are basically graphical updates, e.g. the Madden series or basically anything else EA pumps out.
- McTendo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3The only sucker is you.
WiiKey sucks ass and the dev team has all but abandoned that ***** chip because of all the cheap clones. Anyone who ever visits the official WiiKey
forums would know that.
Oh, and have fun with that GC audiostreaming update thing they promised you. -
