- byttle, on 03/13/2008, -0/+1which came first...the face or the palm?
- mywhitenoise, on 03/12/2008, -9/+36A game that comes with a peripheral. Look at the box...jackass.
- Smwbigboss, on 03/12/2008, -1/+10Just throw it ayay. It's not like they're forcing you to use it. I'm guessing they're not going to charge extra for it. I thought the zapper was a waste of time too, but then I tried it at my friend's house and it's actually quite useful.
- neiltc13, on 03/12/2008, -11/+6Forget gas guzzling cars, all of the oil used in the production of the single-use peripherals Nintendo is pumping out is the cause of high petrol prices and low stocks.
- Drax0n, on 03/12/2008, -1/+4Yes thats right.. but did you know the leading cause of CO2 in the air is from you breathing!? Save the planet and stop now!
- AwesomeMonster, on 03/12/2008, -40/+3Mario kart is a game buddy. You look like quite the jackass.
- doshindude, on 03/12/2008, -9/+129Just when you thought Brawl wasn't awesome enough, BAM! another AAA title.
Only problem is that I'm pretty sure the online is going to suffer, from observing the terrible server problems with Brawl.- iPood, on 03/12/2008, -2/+7I really hope this game plays well online. I've had a lot of fun playing Mario Kart DS online, as long as this game can match that experience, then I'm happy. Of course, I would like to see some features added...
- tech42er, on 03/12/2008, -1/+4Yeah. Takes a while to get matched up, but otherwise, it's great.
- linuxrocks2007, on 03/12/2008, -3/+6I actually don't have internet problems but I know a few people that do. I'm guessing that not many people have forwarded their ports yet or the servers aren't available in every area.
- rnelsonee, on 03/12/2008, -0/+10Is port forwarding helpful on the Wii at all? It's certainly never needed - but I don't think the Wii would accept unsolicited data. Requests could be made by the Wii to Nintendo's servers from the Wii, and then data comes back in the same connection session. Could be wrong though.
- mywhitenoise, on 03/12/2008, -5/+11It's ***** online play, not some torrent or ftp program. You don't need to forward any ports.
- OldJesser, on 03/12/2008, -8/+3I seem to remember battlefield 2142 requiring me to forward ports. That was just "***** online play." Or do you mean online console play?
- iofthestorm, on 03/12/2008, -0/+8You don't need to forward any ports, this has been confirmed by people doing packet sniffing and stuff on various forums.
- zointax, on 03/13/2008, -0/+1Some of us can't connect at all, but I doubt it has anything to do with port forwarding. I have my router on UPnP mode, I've tried opening the recommended ports from Nintendo and turning on DMZ but nothing has come of it, I still get error 61070. I'm hoping it's just on Nintendo's side, so far I haven't been able to connect even once, despite the other online channels (Internet Browser, Wii Shop, etc.) working.
- GreenGrassyNoel, on 03/12/2008, -0/+16I'll bet they learned a lot from SSBB launch. Even though I've had problems with SSBB online, I'm optimistic about Mario Kart.
- daridave, on 03/12/2008, -19/+3AAA? LMFAO!!! No, but really, LMFAO!!! This game looks like crap. AA at best. Ready the [p]reviews, watch, listen. Everybody's complaining that it's inferior to the DS version. It's also slower than th DS version. This game will be good, but NEVER great. AAA? I'm loving my Wii, Smash Bros and I think Nintendo is great (read: NOT an hater), but this game will suck.
- KaiUno, on 03/12/2008, -3/+9Omg, you SOOOO changed my mind ranting like that. They won't be getting my money!
- daridave, on 03/13/2008, -0/+1wtf? it never even crossed my mind to "affect your mind" in any way. Buy it if you want, I'm probably going to buy it too. All I'm saying is this game IS NO AAA material. Good, yes. Great, no. Can your stupid brand-loyalty-based logic get that ?
- KaiUno, on 03/12/2008, -3/+9Omg, you SOOOO changed my mind ranting like that. They won't be getting my money!
- ChanM, on 03/12/2008, -2/+11Yes its another AAA title from NINTENDO. How long can the Wii go on for if there's hardly any AAA titles from other developers? It happened with N64 and the gamecube. So far it looks like its going to happen to the wii where the majority of the great games came from nintendo themselves.
- Ngamer01, on 03/12/2008, -1/+14Blame the third parties for the problem this time. If they spent more time on quality and less on shovelware to cash in on the Wii's popularity, maybe things would be a lot better. Oh and for the record, the Wii is simply following in the DS's beginning footsteps. The 3rd party support should improve later this year.
- KaiUno, on 03/12/2008, -0/+6Believe me, it will improve. The userbase for this thing is HUGE. No developer in his right mind would pass up a chance to cash in with a successful Wii title. Problem is though, that userbase... might not be your kind of folks. And the games that do become hits might not be your cup of tea.
We'll see what happens.- DarkSamus, on 03/12/2008, -7/+1which is why i'm gonna check this game out
then sell the system- doshindude, on 03/13/2008, -3/+6which is why you're retarded.
- DarkSamus, on 03/12/2008, -7/+1which is why i'm gonna check this game out
- TiMMY8765, on 03/12/2008, -0/+19mario kart and gta4 right before exams, man I'm gonna fail
- rentmitchum, on 03/13/2008, -0/+6Don't worry, no chance in hell will it make that date.
- SilverSeraph, on 03/12/2008, -5/+1AAA..hmmmmmm ... What's AAA anyway?
- DarkSamus, on 03/12/2008, -4/+2http://www.aaa.com/
- NaziHatinChimp, on 03/12/2008, -0/+14I haven't been able to connect yet. Nintendo's online multiplayer is absolutely unforgivable.
- DinosWillDie13, on 03/12/2008, -1/+3strikers was good. at least it was before brawl. I haven't tried it since the release.
- PATSCRU, on 03/13/2008, -0/+8yeah i was surprised how good Mario Striker's online play was compared to brawl....You could have random matches, yet still be able to see people's names and connection speeds....brawl's is so ***** gimped i'm furious.
- Sethbacca, on 03/13/2008, -0/+5I think the real thing people are missing is that this is going up against GTA4!
- staticneuron, on 03/13/2008, -0/+3Does it really matter? I will get both! BUt after this what is next for nintendo? Starfox? Starfox with Arwing peripheral?
- Ngamer01, on 03/13/2008, -0/+1Actually I see Star Fox Wii with a Landmaster peripheral. =O
- staticneuron, on 03/13/2008, -0/+3Does it really matter? I will get both! BUt after this what is next for nintendo? Starfox? Starfox with Arwing peripheral?
- iPood, on 03/12/2008, -2/+7I really hope this game plays well online. I've had a lot of fun playing Mario Kart DS online, as long as this game can match that experience, then I'm happy. Of course, I would like to see some features added...
- gamergod42, on 03/12/2008, -23/+11One wheel? Come on, Nintendo. You know people are going to want at least two from the start, so why not include two in the box without making people buy an extra? Surely that would only cost Nintendo a few pennies each! Here's a good Mario Kart Wii Forum: http://forums.mapwii.com/viewforum.php?f=71
- mywhitenoise, on 03/12/2008, -2/+30What good is a floating wheel? You need to have that thing grounded. I can't even drive in real life with my hands on 3 and 9 o'clock for that long.
I have a feeling most people will use the GC controller instead. - iPood, on 03/12/2008, -0/+14If someone else wants to play the game with me, they can use the wheel, I really doubt I will be using it much.
- KyleRayner, on 03/12/2008, -0/+10Im going to ziptie my spare wiimote onto my XBox (not so) Wireless Racing Wheel. :-)
- Smwbigboss, on 03/12/2008, -1/+2Don't those overheat?
- KyleRayner, on 03/12/2008, -0/+4Not the new ones. And the old ones have a repair program in place (of course, its a MS gaming product, haha!)
- DarkSamus, on 03/12/2008, -1/+1you just gotta keep and extra gallon of antifreeze
- Smwbigboss, on 03/12/2008, -1/+2Don't those overheat?
- trdrstv, on 03/12/2008, -0/+2You can have mine. I wish Nintendo wouldn't waste the money on giving every person a useless piece of plastic with their game.
- mywhitenoise, on 03/12/2008, -2/+30What good is a floating wheel? You need to have that thing grounded. I can't even drive in real life with my hands on 3 and 9 o'clock for that long.
- hater2win, on 03/12/2008, -43/+5Let's hope this doesn't let me down as badly as brawl has. Brawl was worth a good 8 hours of gameplay, then I was done.
- linuxrocks2007, on 03/12/2008, -3/+19I see you haven't played the multiplayer yet... or the events, stadium modes, stage creator, online play, collected trophies/stickers/CD's, masterpieces, earned characters or stages, and classic mode.
- LemmingJesus, on 03/12/2008, -4/+1You consider collecting things in a game to be game play?
- linuxrocks2007, on 03/13/2008, -0/+3It's considered lasting value. Besides, even without the extras Multiplayer could last almost forever. And even getting 100% in the Subspace Emissary should take more than 8 hours.
- LemmingJesus, on 03/16/2008, -0/+1Any game can last as long as I want, as long as I just keep playing it. Doesn't make it exciting, new, or enjoyable. If collecting virtual stickers is value, then I honestly wish I were as easily amused as you. Half of the things you mentioned is just collecting crap. Then again I never understood the appeal of achievements either.
- linuxrocks2007, on 03/13/2008, -0/+3It's considered lasting value. Besides, even without the extras Multiplayer could last almost forever. And even getting 100% in the Subspace Emissary should take more than 8 hours.
- LemmingJesus, on 03/12/2008, -4/+1You consider collecting things in a game to be game play?
- MechaZain, on 03/12/2008, -4/+40It's not Nintendo's fault that you don't have friends.
- KyleRayner, on 03/12/2008, -4/+10Yes it is. Stupid non-working online and ridiculous Friend Code crap and lack of voice chat.
- BenKenobi88, on 03/12/2008, -4/+5if people won't be your friends because of a 12 digit code, you've got some issues.
- KyleRayner, on 03/12/2008, -1/+4Its a lot easier to gather online friends for gaming. Well, unless the online is broken and there are these crazy codes. Oh, and no voice chat, did I mention that?
- BenKenobi88, on 03/12/2008, -1/+4Yeah the friend codes and lack of chat sucks. But it's hardly an excuse for not having friends. I have personal friends as well as online acquaintances, it took all of 30 seconds to grab their code and join a match.
- B1663r, on 03/12/2008, -1/+1Actually, I just checked it, and it is not physically possible to enter a friend code accurately in 30 seconds.
- DarkSamus, on 03/12/2008, -2/+1when you are playing against 10 people (?)
how the hell are you gonna know who you're playing against? - BenKenobi88, on 03/13/2008, -0/+2DarkSamus, you enter a code and then enter their name...you never have to deal with codes again after the first entry.
And B1663r, I timed myself as well, and I got through entering the code in less than 30 seconds. I'm not trying to defend the system. You can only have 64 friends, and it's a pain, and you can't make friends after a random match at all. But it's not that bad, the only problems I've had when playing with friends is lag if they live far away. And that will hopefully get fixed.
- BenKenobi88, on 03/12/2008, -4/+5if people won't be your friends because of a 12 digit code, you've got some issues.
- KyleRayner, on 03/12/2008, -4/+10Yes it is. Stupid non-working online and ridiculous Friend Code crap and lack of voice chat.
- Buddhaismybuddy, on 03/12/2008, -1/+2You do realize that Brawl is a fighting game dont you, meaning it is meant to be played with more then one person. The Subspace Emissary is not meant to be the main game mode, Brawl mode is...that's why it's called super smash bros BRAWL and not super smash bros subspace emissary.
- linuxrocks2007, on 03/12/2008, -3/+19I see you haven't played the multiplayer yet... or the events, stadium modes, stage creator, online play, collected trophies/stickers/CD's, masterpieces, earned characters or stages, and classic mode.
- Scyth3, on 03/12/2008, -36/+98Instead of wasting your time reading a press release... the date is: April 27, 2008
- linuxrocks2007, on 03/12/2008, -1/+92or read the summary.
- aceakm, on 03/12/2008, -0/+1GTAIV releases April 29th. That's not good news for Nintendo.
- ShinRaTDR, on 03/12/2008, -1/+4not exactly in direct competition.
- DarkSamus, on 03/12/2008, -2/+2yeah, people buying are gonna buy gta instead of mk
- aceakm, on 03/12/2008, -0/+1GTAIV releases April 29th. That's not good news for Nintendo.
- DinosWillDie13, on 03/12/2008, -1/+2Anyone else smell a delay coming? Seems like nintendo has a thing for delaying big games. Like Brawl, and anyone else remember the huge starfox adventures delay for GC? I have a feeling we shouldn't get our hearts set on april.
- rentmitchum, on 03/13/2008, -1/+1Instead of wasting your time reading a release date for a Nintendo game, just wait until you see it in a store or you hear someone else bought it.
- Junpei, on 03/13/2008, -0/+6I thought the game was coming out later this year, Fall or so time. This really caught me off guard because smash just came out a couple of days ago.
- richmonkey3, on 03/13/2008, -0/+1Hey, some PR person spent some quality time on that news release. If you do not read it how can they possibly justify their job?
- linuxrocks2007, on 03/12/2008, -1/+92or read the summary.
- Matters, on 03/12/2008, -4/+29I remember Kart on the 64. I spent a good portion of my late middle school and early high school playing that game. It was always between that and Goldeneye. As long as it's half as good as the original(s) Kart is yet again going to own my life on Wii. Also, no video game consoles have NEVER come with more than one controller unless they were a special package, why would a a game? Guitar Hero doesn't come with two guitars...
- mywhitenoise, on 03/12/2008, -6/+2http://kotaku.com/363956/finally-guitar-hero-wii-g ...
...just sayin'. - ngmcs8203, on 03/12/2008, -0/+25"Also, no video game consoles have NEVER come with more than one controller"
My head is about to explode trying to understand your double negative. So you are saying that video game consoles have come with more than two controllers? - GerbilSoft, on 03/12/2008, -0/+8"Also, no video game consoles have NEVER come with more than one controller"
The original NES came with two gamepads, and the original Famicom had two gamepads hardwired to the system.- ThugThrasher, on 03/12/2008, -0/+8Exactly, no video game consoles have never come with more than one controller. So, SOME video game consoles have SOMETIMES/ALWAYS come with more than one controller.
His statement is only true because he fails at English, but he's right and you're agreeing with him.
- ThugThrasher, on 03/12/2008, -0/+8Exactly, no video game consoles have never come with more than one controller. So, SOME video game consoles have SOMETIMES/ALWAYS come with more than one controller.
- iiBeLiEvE, on 03/13/2008, -0/+1*ever come with more than one controller.

- UnglueD, on 03/12/2008, -0/+16wahooooooo!
- idesign, on 03/12/2008, -0/+19Here we go!
- Jeffler, on 03/12/2008, -14/+2Buncha nerdgeeks and your Atari Nintendostations....get off my tubes!
- idslite, on 03/13/2008, -0/+1We were here first!
- UnglueD, on 03/12/2008, -0/+16wahooooooo!
- amawg9, on 03/12/2008, -2/+17Hi I'm Daisy
- bejayel, on 03/12/2008, -7/+6How you doin'?
- wittbrij, on 03/12/2008, -1/+15I lost to a bunch of losers
- inverselogic, on 03/12/2008, -7/+1first of all , ***** you...toad all the way!
- MJDub, on 03/13/2008, -0/+4Second of all...?
- LegendRoad, on 03/12/2008, -0/+26I'm a Luigi, number one!
- Atom, on 03/12/2008, -2/+55Great, I wasnt planning on accomplishing anything this semester anyways. Thanks Nintendo, I was hoping to have my brawl addiction curbed a bit by the end of March, but now this?
- skippy17, on 03/12/2008, -0/+3yea, i've already written off the next semester due to spore
- Drax0n, on 03/12/2008, -0/+5You may wnant to push that back to 2009.. you know.. for when the game willa ctually be out..
- skippy17, on 03/12/2008, -0/+3yea, i've already written off the next semester due to spore
- serif69, on 03/12/2008, -25/+17Mario Kart is dated alright.
- KyleRayner, on 03/12/2008, -6/+5I see what you did there.
- chris9902, on 03/12/2008, -4/+3Mario Kart 64 was handed down by god himself but since then it's kinda gone down hill. Double Dash was ***** poor and this crap with it's gimped online play isn't doing it for me.
- Ngamer01, on 03/12/2008, -2/+1I wouldn't call adding tag team strategy crap. That's what Double Dash!! did. Instead of one person per kart in a free-for-all race, you could actually co-op with a friend and take down all opponents in the way. Double Dash!!'s tag system needs to come back (at least in co-op multiplayer) and have online play.
- theratdotus, on 03/12/2008, -1/+3i though this was funny as hell
- B3000, on 03/12/2008, -3/+2I don't understand all these nintendo fanboys getting excited about yet another upgrade to the same stupid franchises year after year for 20 years. I am so bored by Nintendo I cant even explain it.
- tehmark, on 03/12/2008, -15/+3yay, retarded wii wheels i'll be forced to use
- iPood, on 03/12/2008, -1/+16Forced to use? Nobody's holding a gun to your head.
- skankyBacon, on 03/12/2008, -1/+7You can't know that.
- Adonai, on 03/12/2008, -0/+8Didn't they say that, like Brawl, you could use the GameCube controller if you so desire?
- TheG2, on 03/12/2008, -1/+5You can, and it feels 10x better than the Wiimote imho.
- emjaymj, on 03/12/2008, -1/+5I dunno about that. The fact that your hands aren't forced to constantly stay a fixed distant apart makes the wiimote a really comfortable controller for me. There's nothing like being able to play a video game with your hands lazily flopped down anywhere you please. Don't get me wrong, I love the gamecube controller, but the two-piece wii system just seems so obvious to me now I don't know why it took this long to happen.
- TheG2, on 03/12/2008, -1/+5You can, and it feels 10x better than the Wiimote imho.
- steelclash84, on 03/12/2008, -0/+10RTFA, it says it can be controlled by GCN controller, classic, and just normal remote + chuck.
- tehmark, on 03/12/2008, -10/+2except I bought a wii retard, i don't own a fking gamecube
- bigolblob, on 03/12/2008, -0/+7And that's why he also listed the OTHER options...
- mywhitenoise, on 03/12/2008, -0/+4retard.
- BenKenobi88, on 03/12/2008, -0/+7You can plug a GC controller INTO the Wii! GASP.
And if you really hate Gamecube controllers, you could buy a Classic, or a nunchuck. Those ARE Wii specific controller, for the Wii you bought. Retard. - EtherGnat, on 03/12/2008, -0/+8"i don't own a fking gamecube"
So it would offend your sensibilities to buy some Gamecube controllers? I don't understand your complaint. - shortyjacobs, on 03/12/2008, -0/+1that's "wii-tard"
- tehmark, on 03/12/2008, -10/+2except I bought a wii retard, i don't own a fking gamecube
- Drax0n, on 03/12/2008, -0/+1Ya another loser making assumptions about things than whining about them!
- iPood, on 03/12/2008, -1/+16Forced to use? Nobody's holding a gun to your head.
- leerayIG88, on 03/12/2008, -5/+37blue spiked shell FTW.
- hitoshi, on 03/12/2008, -1/+10My friends and I called that shell, THE ELIMINATOR.
- Smwbigboss, on 03/12/2008, -0/+35I hate those goddamn blue shells
- Ngamer01, on 03/12/2008, -0/+4Amen to that. Especially when you're about to win a race and a blue shell causes you to finish in 3rd place instead.
But it adds to the fun of Mario Kart.
- Ngamer01, on 03/12/2008, -0/+4Amen to that. Especially when you're about to win a race and a blue shell causes you to finish in 3rd place instead.
- r00tus3r, on 03/12/2008, -5/+4Wait whaaaaaaat .... I'm old school, I only know about red shells ... :(
- Khevenhuller, on 03/13/2008, -0/+3The blue ones are the spiked shells, and they've always been around, you probably just didn't notice they were blue.
- Toupee, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1If by always you mean since MK 64.
- Khevenhuller, on 03/13/2008, -0/+3The blue ones are the spiked shells, and they've always been around, you probably just didn't notice they were blue.
- Dan11023, on 03/12/2008, -8/+2***** The World?
- tech42er, on 03/12/2008, -1/+1For the Win
- EllimistX, on 03/13/2008, -1/+1***** the world for the win?

- Smwbigboss, on 03/12/2008, -0/+6I remember picking up Mario Kart DS on the first day to try out the new online mode. I got ***** when it wasn't working, so I looked at nintendowifi and saw thir servers crashed. Good thing they had it up and running a few days later though.
- trdrstv, on 03/12/2008, -0/+2Going down? I have yet to connect with an online Brawl match.
- LogitechG15, on 03/12/2008, -10/+4This is Nintendo, always add 2-6 months to there first announced "release date".
- bejayel, on 03/12/2008, -1/+3You can usually expect that 90% of software projects will be pushed back from the original release date, its not that uncommon. In general though, i find nintendo to be fairly good at meeting deadlines within 2-4 months than most other development studios.
- Chrispyc1211, on 03/12/2008, -1/+3Yeah, I'm with bejayel... Nintendo has a good record, and especially with this announced date less than 2 months away, it'll be more difficult to mess up. They probably have a very good idea of when it's going to be ready for release.
- trdrstv, on 03/12/2008, -1/+0Announcing it's release is only 6 weeks away means the game is done. They are likely waiting on capacity to press the discs, for the wheel attachments to be ready, or just to add some breathing room after Brawl.

http://www.nintendowiifanboy.com/photos/mario-kart ...
I know that these recent Nintendo games look much better in motion, but even so... those screens pale in comparison to other recent Nintendo games. Unfortunately for us, this release date doesn't offer enough time for Nintendo to polish the graphics much.- sgtpppr, on 03/12/2008, -4/+1Crack cocaine is bad for you.
- BenKenobi88, on 03/12/2008, -2/+5No, it's not the BEST EVER, and Brawl and Mario Galaxy look better. But hell, those are hard games to beat. Those are IMPOSSIBLE games to beat.
Mario Kart has never had a graphics emphasis...it's just a fun game. The casuals won't mind, the hardcore won't mind. It's just a fun kart racer. Might have been nice with better graphics, but it's not BAD. The gameplay...the gameplay. - Ngamer01, on 03/12/2008, -1/+1Exactly. We don't need Mario Kart pulling a Catwoman mind you.
- unrealmp3, on 03/13/2008, -1/+2In case you haven't figured out yet, Nintendo is not aiming at impressive graphics, but outstanding gameplay. Now, go back to your PS3.

^________________^- hobbitsareneat, on 03/12/2008, -1/+8What are you even talking about? They've always been one of the most quality developers.
- gahal, on 03/12/2008, -0/+12Zelda: Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Brothers: Brawl... I think we disagree on what "***** 3rd rate products" means.
- BenKenobi88, on 03/12/2008, -0/+5It's for the casuals, and they EAT IT UP.
Doesn't mean you have to use more than the one wheel though. I'm sure you've got some friend who hates games, and you could get him/her to play with an accessible control setup. Meanwhile, you could use a GC, Classic, or Wiimote+nunchuck controller, because Nintendo isn't forcing anyone to use motion controls.

- skywake, on 03/13/2008, -2/+2Snaking along with people disconnecting are the reasons I gave up on MKDS online. With no snaking and 12 players online instead of 4 in MKWii they might have fixed two of my biggest annoyances possibly making online last a hell of a lot longer. If they add rankings and other interesting stats then this might become Nintendo's best online game.

- blorguehad, on 03/12/2008, -7/+4ok quite honestly the wii is really cool, love mine, but I am going to get sick if they keep coming out with accessories like this. I have two DDR dance pads, which suck because they aren't wireless, and I have 2 guitar hero controllers, which are awesome, a microphone that isn't wireless either, and now I'm going to have to get four of these wheels...
I really love the wii but I won't have any room to store my wii accessories. Why can't we just use the wiimote... add a mic into that, it can already be used to drive... meh. Oh well, I am a slave to nintendo anyway, ill be buying their stuff till I die.- bigolblob, on 03/12/2008, -0/+6You don't need to have four wheels. You can play without the wheel just like you can play without the zapper. Totally optional. And besides, there are 4 ways of playing.

- bejayel, on 03/12/2008, -2/+3I hope they make a good use of the wiimote. Driving games on the wii so far really suck. Its just not easy to control and is usually fairly fidgity. At least if the Wiimote controls suck you can use the GC controller.
- bardo77n, on 03/12/2008, -0/+2My friends and I must be the only people on the planet that actually like "GT Pro Series." Granted, the visuals are simple and the music is annoying, but the actual racing mechanic is really fun. When four people are playing, it really is a blast!

- neiltc13, on 03/12/2008, -8/+2This is BS. They should announce the European SSBB release date and make it the same day as MKWii comes to North America.
Of course, Nintendo are a bunch of bastards and never would give Europe a fair deal.- davidaq, on 03/12/2008, -1/+4mario kart wii is dated for april 11th in europe. seems pretty fair to me.
- neiltc13, on 03/12/2008, -4/+2On April 27, people in the USA will have both SSBB and MKWii. Europeans will have Mario Kart and no release date for Brawl.
How exactly is that fair?- BenKenobi88, on 03/12/2008, -3/+1OH MY GOD Europe gets Mario Kart EARLY. BEFORE the US!
You're a douche.
No, you don't have Brawl yet, but you get Wii Fit and Mario Kart before the US. You got Mario Strikers before the US as well. No wonder Nintendo doesn't care about Europe, with whiners like yourself as customers.- GeekyGerge, on 03/12/2008, -0/+2Europe is the main market for a football game, so It kind of makes sense.
- BenKenobi88, on 03/13/2008, -0/+1Yeah that's true, but so what? My point was he's whining about Europe getting screwed by Nintendo constantly. Yes, they do get screwed, but A) Nintendo is not the only one, Europe gets screwed by SO many companies, and B) It's not constant, they got Strikers, Wii Fit, and Mario Kart before the USA, so...what the hell?

- drlha, on 03/12/2008, -1/+35Not you, obviously.
- tech42er, on 03/12/2008, -3/+1Wiis are available in most places. I mean, it depends where you live. If you live in the middle of nowhere in the midwest, you could have a problem, but if you live in the suburbs or in any major city, no problem.
- Moiax, on 03/13/2008, -0/+1I know someone who works at target, who told me that they actually got a shipment of 17 in. They were gone in 20 minutes. And this is in the Albany area. It is impossible to get them if you can't wait for a store to open so you can grab it quick.
- diggmaddy, on 03/13/2008, -0/+1Loafy929, just go to www.wiialerts.com and subscribe to their alerts over there (choose whichever method you want, email or SMS). It's an awesome service which helped me score one last November (yea, that time of the year when it was considered almost impossible). It alerts you as soon as the stores you select get it in stock and you can go and order it. Best deal is Amazon, which has NO TAX and FREE SHIPPING, i.e. $250 to your door. Good luck.

- iidestined, on 03/12/2008, -3/+1gotta get that switch working...
- dustinmacdonald, on 03/12/2008, -5/+8While this will no doubt be a fun game, many of the decisions made are very disappointing.
The graphics, at least as shown in screenshots, are simply unacceptable. Poor texture work, low polygon counts. There is no reason Mario Kart Wii should look worse than the GameCube version.
And the recent trend in allowing every controller to be used (wiimote, wiimote+nunchuk, classic controller, gc controller) is hurting the Wii. I can understand why you'd allow it in Brawl, but a racing game like Mario Kart should have no trouble in using the Wii remote only. From what I've heard, this is really just a cop out for loose controls offered by the Wii remote, which could probably be fixed with some harder work in the software department. If you want to even compete online, you'll probably have to end up using the GC controller. Boo.- sgtpppr, on 03/12/2008, -2/+7Someone call the WAAAAHMbulance.
- Buddhaismybuddy, on 03/12/2008, -5/+3Ya why is Nintendo so stupid, I mean its not like they made the most revolutionary and popular gaming system of all time or anything. From now on I think dustinmacdonald should make all of the development decisions for Nintendo that way they might make something good.
- QueEsAmor, on 03/13/2008, -2/+1The Wii is not the most revolutionary, nor the most popular system of all time.
- dustinmacdonald, on 03/12/2008, -0/+1Oops, who let the fanboys out of pre-school early today?
- Buddhaismybuddy, on 03/12/2008, -0/+1perhaps you could explain how having more them one option for control is a bad thing.
- dustinmacdonald, on 03/13/2008, -1/+4It's bad because Nintendo should be pushing the product they're selling. The whole point of the Wii is the revolutionary controller, right? You wouldn't expect to see Wii Sports allowing GameCube controls, would you?
I sincerely doubt they're offering more control options just to accommodate a player's preference. The Wii's motion controls aren't going to be as tight, and they know players will want to switch to a classic configuration pretty quickly. Unfortunately, this means some players will have an unfair advantage in multiplayer just because they're using a different controller.

- SniperSlap, on 03/12/2008, -11/+3Scoreboards, and GHOST RACERS?! Whoopty ***** do.
This game doesn't look appealing. I would have considered buying it if they had actually given it decent online multiplayer. But this is par for the usual "scoreboard" feature set on a "Nintendo Wi-Fi enabled" title.
Considering that this game will likely run its course in about five hours TOPS with me, I'm not planning on getting it. Just more sucked out crippleware from Nintendo on their must-have console for kiddies.- SniperSlap, on 03/12/2008, -11/+1Ah, undigg me you slack jawed retarded fanboys. You couldn't tell a ***** game from watching your parents have sex.
Spineless morons, I wish gaming would go back to its roots and lose all the popular mainstream idiots in the process.- Laxaloot, on 03/12/2008, -1/+5Yes, telling people they are mentally disabled is going to get them to digg you up. As for your "gaming would go back to its roots," what the hell does that even mean? The gaming industry is still a baby, what are its roots? Pong? Asteroids? Because those "roots" are what is allowing a bridge into mainstream media. The "roots" of gaming can be found in places like Xbox Arcade and Virtual Console. What the hell are you asking?
- SniperSlap, on 03/13/2008, -1/+1Your lack of exposure in gaming shows clearly. Pong, asteroids - lol. It's like you just read a magazine and became an expert. Nice try fanboy.
The roots of gaming are in the past, not in a recent console release. Go learn.- Laxaloot, on 03/13/2008, -1/+1You are a dumbass. How am I a fanboy? I didn't even say I was pro or against anything. Pong and asteroids were two of the first few video games in existence, not on a recent console... I was saying Pong and asteroids (aka the roots/beginnings of video games) were available on things like the virtual console and the Xbox Arcade, I wasn't saying that those two virtual marketplaces were the roots of gaming. As for my "lack of exposure in gaming," I dare you to tell me a single video game console that I have not heard of. How does saying the words "pong" and "asteroids" mean that I am an expert in any way? On top of that how on earth do those words mean I read gaming magazines?
- SniperSlap, on 03/14/2008, -1/+1OMG CONSOLE KNOW WAR.
Kind of a dumb challenge given the intardnet. Diggfaggot.
- SniperSlap, on 03/13/2008, -1/+1Your lack of exposure in gaming shows clearly. Pong, asteroids - lol. It's like you just read a magazine and became an expert. Nice try fanboy.
- EtherGnat, on 03/12/2008, -1/+6I think the Wii is closer to gaming's roots than any other console. The early games like Space Invaders, Missile Command, Sprint, Pong, and Pac Man were all easy to play, simple games. Then games started chasing hardcore gamers, and getting more and more complex. There's nothing wrong with that, but it left the casual gamer behind. The Wii reminds me of my early days in the arcade, which is a good thing IMO.
- SniperSlap, on 03/13/2008, -1/+1I can agree with you there, but I find it perplexing that Nintendo would seek to charge for the same things over and over again (virtual console). You can tell they are hard up for ideas and would rather put in the minimal effort to try and re-bag the exact same titles over and over again.
Mix that with their blatant milking of the exclusive franchises... Mario is so overdone now I get sick of seeing him in every single incarnation.
Games on the Wii so far that have impressed me - and only by a bit are:
Wii Sports
Fire Emblem
Even with fire emblem, I'm a bit disappointed, but it seems more a cutover title than a ground up development. Again, where's the effort?
I'm more than happy to wait to see things play out, but I'm just not seeing it yet. Especially with the sucked out multiplayer.

"I would have considered buying it if they had actually given it decent online multiplayer. But this is par for the usual "scoreboard" feature set on a "Nintendo Wi-Fi enabled" title."

"Players can compete against each other in races and battles with up to 4 players in split screen mode and up to 12 players via Nintendo's Wifi Connection service."

Let's hope for the best though! I don't understand why this is the only release that mentions online multiplayer as a feature, and I'd take it with a grain of salt until more information is available.
Point still stands really though. Are we going to see more diversity and appeal in Nintendo titles, or is it just going to be Mario-this and Mario-that? Fire Emblem was a step in the right direction for me, as was Wii Sports (just so I don't sound interested in RPGs), but they still both fall horribly short.
Third party title quality is also very questionable. Moreso than first, which in itself seems rather cookie cutter.

- iruber1337, on 03/12/2008, -2/+2Because of course games in the 80's weren't mainstream...oh no there never was multiple daytime cartoons starring video game characters (Pac-man/Mario) or even a chart topper about a video game (Pac-man fever).
The irony in your comment is you complain about the supposed lackluster online component then go on to say it should go back to the old-school roots.- SniperSlap, on 03/13/2008, -1/+1I think you deliberately misinterpret what I'm saying. The old school roots reference isn't to duplicate the technology of the time, it's the principles we've lost.
In earlier days of console gaming, titles were made to last. Nowadays, titles are deliberately scoped to have you coming back to the store for more within a few weeks. It is purely marketing driven.
Let's look at a title like Geometry Wars which is pretty decent for a spell...But not $50CAD decent!!! Reviews of the game also make this glaringly clear. This game is available for way less on other systems!
Other third party titles which seem like one-offs are also following this trend of just charging a flat rate for a title that may only contain at best five hours of real gameplay. I was shopping for titles yesterday and eventually gave up because I couldn't settle on a game that seemed worth paying for! Not to mention all the titles that were dropping in price like crazy because they were obviously not selling.
I'll be damned if I play another Wii/DS game that spends half the f!nking time trying to instruct me how to play at every turn!
This speaks nothing to the quality, and most review sites seem very apathetic towards many Wii games that aren't the window dressers: Mario Mario Mario Mario. At which point you'd almost think they're obligated to give the game at least an "8 out of 10", or suffer the wrath of stupid fankiddies.
Anyway, back to the main point: The games are short, they don't have replay value with the exception of a title like Smash Bros and Wii Sports. But that's two titles, and not everyone will necessarily be into either. Most games are horribly shallow and spend more time baby stepping you through some boring story arc. I may as well watch a movie because it's hardly engaging.
It's a real disappointment that we're not seeing the bar pushed in anything but the cinematic experience of a game. It results in a lot of rinse-repeat action/adventure chores.
To be honest, this isn't a Wii exclusive problem. But the Wii can afford to innovate a little more than the grinding halt it has come to with the wiimote. Sony "Home" is coming out and while I hate Sony, it is actually going to bring some questions forward.
Then again, if you buy into the persuasive marketing so easily, you're hardly qualified to talk on this subject. I take the good with the bad. Right now, most agree that the Wii isn't quite there yet for the "everyone" it claims to be there for.

- tech42er, on 03/12/2008, -1/+2Its roots? What the ***** do you think gaming's roots are? Do you want to bring back the arcade?
- SniperSlap, on 03/13/2008, -1/+1Wrong.
- Laxaloot, on 03/12/2008, -1/+5Yes, telling people they are mentally disabled is going to get them to digg you up.
- SniperSlap, on 03/12/2008, -11/+1Ah, undigg me you slack jawed retarded fanboys. You couldn't tell a ***** game from watching your parents have sex.
- owen87, on 03/12/2008, -1/+13been playing smash for the last four days and its fantastic, nintendo still knows how to put out a quality product. the characters are balanced and the new maps are awesome. i was going to buy a 360, but im gonna put that off for a little while and just get mario kart wii instead.
the mario kart series has always held a special place in my heart. when i was in fourth and fifth grade we all used to go to my friends basement and play it on his parents bigscreen. four people would play and the rest of us would take turns pretending to be the announcer on a karaoke microphone we found. one of my fondest memories for sure. - winterpeg, on 03/12/2008, -0/+4A couple weeks ago I read a review over at Kotaku(review was done by another party but kotaku linked to the review) which said that a really hard track from snes was updated and given a Super Mario Galaxy makeover.
Rainbow Road Galaxy is my guess- Ngamer01, on 03/12/2008, -0/+3I'd die if that guess is right. =X
