- opnickc, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I was expecting an insightful, point by point article involving everything from marketing to economics to game development which would show PS3's advantages. Instead, the article basically said "The Wii is outselling the PS3, I think the PS3 has 'more potential', so eventually the PS3 will win."
Why not point out that major titles aren't seeing Wii releases (SC4 is a recent example)? Why not note that Blu-Ray is outselling HD-DVD? That the PS2 is still going strong, and Sony is simply establishing a longer release cycle for consoles? That HDTV adoption is up? ANYTHING!
Anybody who reads my comments knows I prefer the Wii, but even I could make a better argument for the PS3! Buried as lame. - heysuburbia, on 10/11/2007, -3/+3ehh, no real good points...
I think the only thing PS3 has going for it is GTA IV, and once people realize they'll be able to get that on the PC soon after, the PS3 is going the way of the PSP.
As far as wiimote novelty, I don't think it's going anywhere. Two quick points, Zelda barely used the controls and was an amazing game, Super Mario Brawl uses no "novelty" in it's game and is the most anticipated game for the Wii, same goes for Metroid Prime 3, and Mario Galaxy. Although all those games use the Wiimote, they're not dependent on it like Wii Sports. That brings me to my second point, there IS a strong non-gamer market and there will be dozens of games (like wii sports) that keep bringing those people in.
If developers can tighten up the controls and graphics for FPS, then the Wii will have another advantage and I think as long as the graphics continue to push the system there really is no downfall for the Wii in sight.
