      They could have modded the level design completely different. However, they kept a similar level design for a good reason. That reason is too have the player familiar with something and then screw them over with some kind of trap like a hidden block.
      A lot of these mods are about trial and error an learning the level and all the "secrets".

          I finished the games in 232 lives :(. Had to cheat and watch the youtube vid to find out how to get passed the final final boss.

            So just start installing updates until it works.

      (Unless you believe that the 2 second "teaser" was supposed to be an indication that the game is still alive. If anything, it's an indication of just how little they've finished since their last re-write in like 2004.)

It's both good and bad, no poor "random pit death start over 15 min away". but the feeling of finishing the game isn't the same.
