- snowbones, on 06/15/2008, -3/+30Just in: Hackers hack the Gibson
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3XzPhdBx9g - lemination, on 06/15/2008, -1/+16NES and SNES ones have been for sale for a while, from this site:
http://www.retrousb.com/index.php?categoryID=80 - MrOldSkool, on 06/15/2008, -8/+22Fantastic work, you gotta love those hackers, they do better stuff than Nintendo themselves!!
- harrison5394, on 06/15/2008, -0/+13What, why? The 360 controller has the worst d-pad known to man. Would be pretty worthless for some of those VC games.
- shank69xo, on 06/15/2008, -0/+11$37 shipped.....!!!! No controller either. I'll stick to my Classic controller thanks.
- t3rmv3locity, on 06/15/2008, -3/+14Cool but I'll stick with my Classic/Wavebird
- K3ITHK, on 06/15/2008, -1/+11Coincidentally, that is the exact company the article mentions.
- svensksvamp, on 06/15/2008, -0/+9yeah, but it's truly awesome while it lasts
- 1337Kitty, on 06/15/2008, -1/+10The "correct" definition has always been that a hacker modifies things to do things they were not intended to do, usually by upgrading them. Somewhere along the lines of that.
Someone who breaks into networks and penetrates systems is "correctly" called a cracker. - ubaid1, on 06/15/2008, -0/+6I really like the N64 controller, it's a work of art.
I was beginning to think nintendo turned evil, thinking that last word to be "authentication," signaling that nintendo was going to lock out third party controllers. - matt.rubin, on 06/16/2008, -0/+6Hack the Planet!
- Aensland, on 06/15/2008, -0/+6Damn crackers, giving biscuits a bad name.
- phatboye, on 06/15/2008, -4/+10n64 controller is still my favorite controller of all time.
- DefaultGen, on 06/16/2008, -0/+4Too many garbage files!
- whatthefu, on 06/16/2008, -0/+3how come computer screens in movies always look super high tech and futuristically designed even though they look impossible to use
- Sarevok9, on 06/15/2008, -4/+7It seems like a 'hacker' is now a term for a firmware modder, a cracker, or anyone who innovates / changes any pre-existing product. What do you call someone who partakes in unwanted network enumeration and penetration nowadays?
- MasterTroll, on 06/15/2008, -2/+51337
- noerrorsfound, on 06/15/2008, -0/+3The joystick on the N64 controller sucks because it gets loose over time.
- Greg2k, on 06/15/2008, -0/+3You called?
Oh wait... - wannapiece, on 06/15/2008, -0/+3Begin the retro Nintendo product era... PLEASE!
- lilsharkhunter, on 06/15/2008, -1/+3N64 controller was awesome unless some ***** developer actually implemented the L button, in which case you either did the right-hand-over motion or the questionable "left hand scoop up". Otherwise it was pretty comfortable.
- inactive, on 06/15/2008, -0/+2Yeah a hacker is just a men which modifies things, think to the free software song, when RMS speaks to hackers, he think "coders who work to modify linux", i think when a coder begin to go into source codes to modifiy them, when a men go into the electronic part of the hardware to modify it, it is the same, they are hackers.
- t3rmv3locity, on 06/15/2008, -0/+2'Buzz up'?
You're on digg man...look at your address bar... - Pinmonkey555, on 06/16/2008, -0/+2I put pieces of a soda can box under the frets on my Guitar Hero 2 controller to stop the clacking and make them easier to press. Apparently I'm a hacker now. Cool.
- Vosona, on 06/16/2008, -0/+2I still have two perfectly functioning controllers, have had them for years.
- twigboy, on 06/15/2008, -0/+2if you're referring to the wiimote, thats just part of the bluetooth pairing process
- BigChinaski, on 06/15/2008, -0/+2Hmmm, since when is moding something hacking. That term is being used very loosely nowadays. Like genius. What a bunch of genius hackers these guys are, splicing cables and whatnot.
- Zippo, on 06/15/2008, -0/+2The official Super Famicom Classic Controller that was given to Club Nintendo members works perfectly. Bought one on eBay for $30.
- inactive, on 06/15/2008, -0/+219 bucks to use an original NES controller on the Wii is a pretty good deal. I got the classic controller for the Wii and it's nice for the SNES games but the NES games just don't play right with it. You can't remap the buttons and the 'A' and 'B' buttons are just far enough away to make it really difficult to hit both by rolling the thumb to the side like you did on the original controller.
- hakz, on 06/15/2008, -0/+2Wish I could make my computer desk spin like that when I'm using it
- matt.rubin, on 06/16/2008, -0/+2it was designed that way because Nintendo did not know if 2D games would catch on. So they developed the controller so It would be able to play 2D and 3D games easily. The L button is just a replacement for the Z button.
- retawd, on 06/15/2008, -1/+2Chinese.
- DownkeyKowng, on 06/16/2008, -0/+1Mess with the best.. die like the rest!
- darkNiGHTS, on 06/16/2008, -0/+1$37 is cheap for an adapter?
- mustang460, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1try reading the video description
- madk, on 06/16/2008, -1/+2I'm not quite sure about calling them hackers...but ok.
- childprey, on 06/16/2008, -0/+1A cracker, like you're supposed to.
Hacker is being used properly in this case. - TheSnuffster, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1Boo!
- inactive, on 06/16/2008, -0/+1they'll give anyone that title anymore, hacker
- hackysackmaster, on 06/16/2008, -1/+2and? for those of us that dont read engadget its on digg today...duggdown.
- Eezyville, on 06/16/2008, -0/+1Meh. Hackers need to be usefull and show us how to get Perfect Dark or Golden Eye on virtual console.
- BlueSkyfish, on 06/16/2008, -0/+1Just use the Wiimote alone and hold it sideways.
- kevdotbadger, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1Awesome! Must get one of these.
- darkNiGHTS, on 06/16/2008, -0/+1I've determined the cause of the loose N64 joysticks: Super Smash Bros. The smash attacks in that game really destroy the joystick.
- modtho, on 09/08/2008, -0/+119 bucks to use an original NES controller on the Wii is a pretty good deal. http://pspgames247.com - HanSolo69, on 06/16/2008, -0/+1Thanks for the in-depth article....
- puppetj, on 06/16/2008, -0/+1Are your serious if you dont know about this already your an idiot, the site was up even before the wii was out!
- Yoness, on 06/16/2008, -1/+1I was about to comment the same thing. More like hobbyists than hackers...I once did something equally complex -when I was 12 on my atari 2600...
