If you do well, great, if not, get drunk and try another game. - DrOBoogie, on 08/21/2008, -0/+13About a month ago a friend and I were tripping on acid and we decided to play a few games of Mario Kart against computer opponents, just sort of as an experiment to see if we could do it. Somehow we came in first and second for the first game, miles ahead of the other karts. It was actually pretty easy to simply stare and the screen and tilt the controller as necessary, we seemed to be driving completely unconsciously, our basic animal reflexes taking over.
Then for the second game we became distracted and are concentration was destroyed; it became a struggle to actually finish the race.

- FriedTurkey, on 08/21/2008, -0/+5Mario Kart Wii rules. I don't care if it is the same damn game and some of the newer tracks suck balls. Playing online is the *****. It just works. Its odd being schooled by what is probably a 12 year old from Japan but I dig it. What is cool is that there seems to a lot of female Miis playing online. (Maybe dudes as females?) I would say the mix is about 40% female. Also there seems to be a lot of people playing the 2 player online. You can tell they are using 2 player online because they are forced to vote for the same track.

If you drink too much though, that'll shut off too and you'll play like *****.
It's well known among those who study the brain that when a professional (e.g. Tiger Woods) is about to hit a golf ball, much of his brain activity shuts down so that the core of which focuses on swinging can have more control. This happens with professional snipers as well as basketball players right before a 3 pointer.
When you drink a little bit, it simulates this in a poor manner such that you may see a little benefit until you start drinking more then your game will go to crap. - inactive, on 08/21/2008, -0/+4More importantly, drinking while playing Mario Kart helps with the necessary torrent of obscenities that fly out of your mouth while playing. Your ultimate goal is to weave a tapestry of profanity that would make a sailor blush - if you don't accomplish that, there's no real point to playing in the first place.

- rnelsonee, on 08/21/2008, -0/+3Exactly. We know we play worse though because this game you can tell you're worse by racing previous ghosts (including your own) and watching your VR score. If you play Time Trial on Luigi's Circuit enough, you'll be within 1 second of your previous records every time (same rider and vehicle). Play drunk and you won't make the top 5. Try it! :)

So much so that I come closer to winning in this state than sober... Nintendo + Alcohol... Mmmm... Who said that they weren't catering to older, hardcore, hard drinking gamers?

- inactive, on 08/21/2008, -1/+4It's not about just getting totally sloshed - you have to find the "zone." Especially with Guitar Hero - a couple of drinks, and you'll be playing like a god. A couple more drinks and suddenly the screen's just a colorful blur and you end up playing every not about 10 seconds after it's passed.
