- Gizza, on 08/08/2008, -7/+200Why should developers be wary of this? They don't make any less money if 60% of the people don't use their product after already paying for it.
- luag, on 08/08/2008, -4/+188Nintendo: IT PRINTS MONEY! HAHAHA!
- xerograde, on 08/08/2008, -9/+119The statistic is real:

It's like any exercise program; most people quit early. They're still making boatloads of money though. - nimbletimble, on 08/08/2008, -21/+124Since my 360 broke I don't play that either
- emot1con, on 08/08/2008, -0/+9560% of treadmills purchased go unused as well.
- blackinthmiddle, on 08/08/2008, -10/+100Translation: We're extremely jealous of Nintendo's success and feel compelled to take a dump on them!
- cusoman, on 08/08/2008, -87/+16065% of all Halo 3 owners live in their parent's basement and have never had relations with a woman before.
See? I can make up statistics based on something where I have no (f)actual data too! - JackSchittt, on 08/08/2008, -17/+79So let me get this right...........A bunch of people buy Wii Fit, and stop playing it after a while. How is this any different from me buying any other game and not playing it after a while once I beat it or get bored with it?
Nothing to see here, folks. Microsoft is just trying to take a statistic that they completely made up and spin it in an attempt to explain why Wii is kicking the crap out of them.
It's funny how they can make up and spin statistics in a feeble attempt to save face, but they have no explanation for the not-made-up 33%+ failure rate of the XBox 360. - Darkangel754, on 08/08/2008, -2/+61I find it pretty amazing that 40% of purchasers have stuck to what is essentially a fitness program.
- openaddy, on 08/08/2008, -5/+54He should have stated his sentence in the form of a question, like CNN or FOX news.
BREAKING: 60% OF WIIFIT GO UNPLAYED? - jman2807, on 08/08/2008, -6/+5260% of the time, it works every time.
- damnthatsweird, on 08/08/2008, -19/+64I fail to see how this can be blamed on a "gimmicky" product. I blame the lazy 60% of people, not Nintendo.
- CanIGetAWitness, on 08/08/2008, -7/+37In related news:
Many great deals for Wii Fit on Ebay. - SheepBoy13, on 08/08/2008, -12/+4165% of all Nintendo fanboys believe that every Xbox 360 owner plays Halo 3.
- Taedirk, on 08/08/2008, -0/+24Are you sure it's not overly smug people telling others why they're wrong that's wrong with the internet?
- DinosWillDie13, on 08/08/2008, -1/+22Well then why don't they ***** sell it back so I can get a used one?
- xero69, on 08/08/2008, -21/+42At least Nintendo's products don't give you the red ring of death 10 minutes after the warranty has expired.
- billjimbob, on 08/08/2008, -27/+47I didn't buy Wii Fit because I felt, unlike the controllers, it was a gimmick. The controllers actually revolutionized gameplay... not perfect, but better than anything else on the market. The Wii Fit is, plain and simple, a gimmick. I don't see any skateboarding or snowboarding games changing that.
My Wii will continue to sit in a corner, unused, until the next Zelda/Mario/Metroid game comes out. A game with decent online play may change that, but Nintendo still thinks it's 1997 (the Dreamcast had better multiplayer than any Wii game to date). I can't wait until the next generation, when MS and Sony give us (real) motion controllers with good online play. - inactive, on 08/08/2008, -1/+21Seriously. Beats the hell out of the percentage of idiots who sign up at my local 24 hr fitness, and quit after a month. My friend that works there says that our local gym has a 500/1 person-to-machine ratio right now. Imagine if they all showed up lol.
- Blurker, on 08/08/2008, -0/+19My wife bought one several years ago, and she still uses it.
As a clothes hanger. - McBradd, on 08/08/2008, -1/+20They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time it works, every time.
~Brian Fantana - inactive, on 08/08/2008, -8/+27"Aw, people can come up with statistics to prove anything, Kent. Forfty percent of all people know that."
-Homer - c010rb1indusa, on 08/08/2008, -0/+18I'd say about 60% of americans never use any exercise equipment after first buying it, it's the American Way.
- socalftw, on 08/08/2008, -6/+20Fat people tend to stay fat. It's up to them to help themselves...
- briansearles, on 08/08/2008, -1/+15*looks at his Wii Fit in the corner and sheds a tear, because it's true*
- clickwir, on 08/08/2008, -5/+19OH thats right, this is according to MICROSOFT. Like they have any clue how many of their own products they sold. Let alone how many are being used by another company.
- inactive, on 08/08/2008, -3/+16This...Also, wtf, those numbers seem cooked. I love wii fit, it's fun and different...
OOOOHHH...that's right, games aren't supposed to be fun OR different. - hmunkey, on 08/08/2008, -0/+13Too bad it's actual data. Check any of the links people have posted.
- driftholic, on 08/08/2008, -4/+16Microsoft is jealous....
- mohsenxp, on 08/08/2008, -5/+17This just in:
60% of Wii's celebrate their anniversary collecting dust. - tjmb9, on 08/08/2008, -1/+12The problem with wii fit isn't that it is a gimmick. It's actually a pretty great idea. The problem is that in order to get 30 minutes of workout time, you have to play the game for an hour. After a few days, it's like, "*****, I'll just do the sit-ups on my own and save time."
- NecroSexy, on 08/08/2008, -3/+14Again, those statistics are actually flattering when you consider that WiiFit was released in Japan last December.
- watership, on 08/08/2008, -6/+17Ya, its not like it can be fixed for free or anything. Oh wait!
- crazyechidna83, on 08/08/2008, -0/+10stings the nostrils. im going to be honest, that smells like pure gasoline.
- thestranger, on 08/08/2008, -2/+1260% (if not higher) of all purchased video games go unused after one week of purchase.
Busy
Beat the game
Finishing other games
not as good as you thought
etc - loroleg, on 08/08/2008, -0/+10Microsoft has seen Nintendo's penis...
- mlavergn, on 08/08/2008, -3/+13Just what I was thinking. I guess the empty Wii and Wii Fit shelves, right next to the overflowing XBox360 shelves, are starting to get on their nerves.
- stung47000, on 08/08/2008, -12/+21I bought one of these once, but back then it was called a Powerglove.
- chaosblade77, on 08/08/2008, -6/+15I have to agree with KingGoonie... even though it's half for nostalgia reasons. I've grown up playing games on Nintendo consoles, and it's not worth "dropping" Nintendo and losing my favorite franchises. Until I'm playing Fire Emblem and Metroid on another console, a Nintendo console will have a place in my house. On top of the franchises I don't want to give up, I have no trouble finding enough games to make the purchase worthwhile.
As for the PS3 and 360... I decided I wanted to look into getting another console this gen and what I found that interested me on the PS3 was laughable. I don't see how people can say it has a better library than the Wii, most of it's big games are STILL slated for future released. For released titles, it has what? Resistance, Warhawk, GTA (not exclusive), MGS4. Too bad I'm not interested in any of those games.
360 is blowing the PS3 away in both JRPGs and WRPGs, and at the rate things are going, I don't see that changing. I'd much rather buy a PS3 due to it having more build in features and free online, but it just doesn't have the games to justify the purchase. And seeing as I don't care much about movies, a blu-ray player does me about as much good as a bbq grill does a vegetarian. - laserdog, on 08/08/2008, -3/+11Sounds like 50% of nintendo's rivals have come down with a case of "sour grapes".
- Shadic, on 08/08/2008, -1/+9Maybe jealous of Nintendo coming from third place last gen, and totally stomping the market right now?
- vashgunfighter, on 08/08/2008, -2/+10This is true. A lot of people took that statistic out of context. You can't quote a statistic from Japan and relate it to your own European market when the release dates were so spaced apart. On top of that, how does anyone from Microsoft have the balls to quote something from a Japanese market and say "look how badly that went over"? Last I checked, they're still dead in the water there.
- clickwir, on 08/08/2008, -1/+9I've been using mine every day for weeks. I don't always use the training everyday, but I do the body check. It's an expensive scale but it's effective. I love the Wii Fit, if you use it for what it was made for (getting fitter than you are) then buy it. If you don't plan on using it for that, don't buy it. Sounds like a lot of people bought it and didn't stick with the program.
- Galaxylander, on 08/08/2008, -0/+833PercentGod, you must be forgetting that even though there is all that negativity towards the Wii, people love it and continue buying it.
I wonder why. - ttam, on 08/08/2008, -2/+10I don't think anyone who bought WiiFit thought: Gee, I wonder if this has solid gameplay.
- inactive, on 08/08/2008, -0/+8I love the Powerglove, it's soo bad.
- Oddish, on 08/08/2008, -3/+10And about 90 % of Wii purchases.
- CylonsOfTheLamb, on 08/08/2008, -0/+7No *****. I hate buying anything from EBay, but that seems to be the only place where there isn't a shortage of these things.
- CarnivalOfDust, on 08/08/2008, -16/+23That's because you're no longer playing them after a year. Kinda hard for a paperweight to suffer the RRoD.
- inactive, on 08/09/2008, -1/+865% of Halo 3 players are under 17
