- inactive, on 06/16/2008, -0/+9Super Metroid> Every other Metroid. Honestly that's what got me to love Metroid in the first place.
- juniorb, on 06/16/2008, -1/+8Zero Mission was incredible. It was my first foray into 2D Metroid, and I fell in love like never before.
I would really love official ports of Metroid II and Super Metroid on the DS. I think there is something inherently natural about 2D games on a handheld. The level of detail, almost painterly backgrounds, the clarity and immediacy of the gameplay, they are just MADE for pick-up-and-play. Not to mention that 2D games can actually be more challenging than their 3D counterparts. Anyone who's played Mega Man, Contra, or games like Galaxy Wars knows that subtracting a dimension doesn't necessarily mean subtracting the challenge.
I also think it's important that Nintendo, who knocked 3D out of the park with the N64, not abandon 2D gaming. There is a sizable segment of gamers out there who (just like the first gamers of the 70's and 80's), relish challenging 2D games. And Metroid makes for some of the most compelling and addictive 2D gaming available.
So LET'S-A GO, NINTENDO! - joehobbes, on 06/16/2008, -1/+7Please Nintendo! We need at least one new 2D Metroid -- even if it's only on the DS.
And the compilation idea would be nice too -- and that could apply to other franchises as well! - wynja, on 06/16/2008, -0/+43D Metroid on the DS??? I mean come on. Please Nintendo, for the love of God, give us a 2D Metroid for the DS. There is some much potential in a 2D DS Metroid it's not even funny.
PS No Metroid every came close to grabbing me like Metroid 2 for the Gameboy. - joehobbes, on 06/16/2008, -0/+4that would actually be pretty darn cool!
It's not something that seems like an obvious thing, but once you think about it, it could work out very well! - TheImaginator, on 06/16/2008, -0/+4The GBA versions of Metroid were nowhere near as good as Super Metroid on the SNES - neither were the Metroid Prime games.
- YME1280, on 06/16/2008, -0/+3Paper Metroid Anyone?
- inactive, on 06/16/2008, -1/+4That super metroid hd drawing looks sick and as much as i would love to see that game again, i think they should make a completely new (huge) 2d game in hd with more weapons
- Doomsan, on 06/16/2008, -0/+3I'm currently playing Super Metroid again and it's ***** amazing, i would love to see a remake.
- ELCad, on 06/16/2008, -0/+3The New Super Mario, Contra and Castlevania games for the DS are pretty awesome 2D games, so there is no reason they can't make a Metroid one, well except that they have that 3D one already for the DS.
- inactive, on 06/16/2008, -0/+3A 2-D Metroid on the DS would kick ass, sad thing is Nintendo seems more intent on satisfying young kids with ADD these days. Most Nintendo games from the past 10 years have been too easy, linear and short as if they're trying to compensate for what they gave us as kids on the NES.
- Shissy, on 06/16/2008, -0/+3There's so much Nintendo could work with having 2d metroid on the DS. Stylus to aim, left pad to shoot, d-pad to move and jump, top screen for map/items/life/etc.. I'm really starting to want this.
- timmyrich, on 06/17/2008, -0/+1What about a DS channel on the Wii so us Wii owners could enjoy all those pretty impressive looking DS games?
- joehobbes, on 06/16/2008, -0/+1I enjoyed Fusion a lot. It was actually the first one I played extensively.
It's more linear, but I guess that helped me as a newbie. - YME1280, on 06/16/2008, -0/+1I agree sir. It just came to me in a revelation. haha
- URENA, on 09/10/2008, -0/+0I feel everyones pain for a 2D Metroid and i really want one too really bad for the DS but the thing is that most of us are old school and we grew up with metroid on the nes or on the snes and i think kids now dont care about 2D greatness no more. They grew up on Halo or stuff like that
- buin, on 06/17/2008, -0/+0Is there any limit to the math? dugit.. digme?
- buin, on 06/17/2008, -0/+0aw truck.. can't spell..
