- joehobbes, on 12/10/2007, -2/+24You can get Phantom Hourglass for $20 already???
- joehobbes, on 12/10/2007, -2/+22If you are an old-school Sonic fan, it's almost worth picking up a DS just to play Rush. I'm a little skeptical of the new Sonic Rush Adventure, however. It looks like they threw in too many "extra" things to do like in Sonic Adventure. Just keep it to the good stuff, Sega!
I strongly recommend Meteos as well. It's from the same designers as Lumines. You might want to make sure you have a screen guard if you play it though -- you'll be busy scratching up your screen with the game you don't -- Meteos is quite intense.
Anyway, if you haven't seen the rest of racket's series, check it out here:
http://www.racketboy.com/guide/cheapest-video-game ... - Edge00, on 12/10/2007, -1/+19I picked up picked up Puzzle Quest at target for $15 dollars about a week ago. ymmv
- racketboy, on 12/10/2007, -1/+19Yeah, not everyone wants to pirate
And DS ROMs don't make as nice of stocking stuffers as real games :) - joehobbes, on 12/10/2007, -3/+13For one, it's gonna cost you more than another $15 (the card is typically $40 plus you'll probably want an extra SD card).
But also, not everyone wants to pirate current-gen stuff. - flamingmb, on 12/10/2007, -1/+11you want a medal?
- racketboy, on 12/10/2007, -0/+10I wish my used game stores still sold retro stuff.
Funcoland was awesome until Gamestop bought them out... - FAKKU, on 12/10/2007, -0/+8Feel the Magic is worth every penny.
- Klarth, on 12/10/2007, -0/+6Putting jokes in code just isn't funny.
- racketboy, on 12/10/2007, -1/+6Whatever dude.
If you'd bother to look at the rest of the site, you'd realize I have plenty of useful information that many people that are interested in retro gaming have found useful.
Again, I don't know why you and whoever else is making a stink about the Amazon links. I don't put this on digg and make hundreds of other people digg it. msaleem is one of the top digg members, so if you have an issue with the submission, take it up with him.
Bottom line is that I didn't spam. Get over it. - racketboy, on 12/10/2007, -2/+7viruz -- I didn't post this to digg, so don't blame me if you think this is spam.
As for my referal links, its one of the only ways I make money on a site that I have invested hundreds of dollars and thousands of hours out of my time on.
I don't go around telling you that you shouldn't get paid for the work you do. - Shawn4168, on 12/10/2007, -1/+6I'm sure...because it's not like he links to eBay as well, and lists the average prices for eBay, not Amazon. And it's not like Amazon doesn't sell all those games he linked to either.
- neomis, on 12/10/2007, -3/+8That's not true, I just got my cousin an m3 ds real with about 15 games loaded on it. He is going to crap his pants.
- Cyber_Akuma, on 12/10/2007, -0/+410 PRINT "YOU FAIL"
20 GOTO 10
30 Get dugg down to hell for using GOTO - viruz, on 12/10/2007, -6/+10That would involve extra time and impact his Amazon referral sales.
This entire article is nothing more than Amazon referral spam. - bob_the_alien, on 12/10/2007, -0/+4They need to add Trace Memory to that list,
It's hands down, my favorite game on the DS. Played all the way through it 4 times now.
Still enjoyable on each replay. You can get it used for 9.99 from Gamestop. - Kazenodeku, on 12/10/2007, -1/+4Yoshi's Touch and Go is not worth 13$.
I wouldn't exactly call it a "gem", either. - gl77, on 03/31/2008, -0/+3yea, got a local chain here with about 3 stores in the area, its called "Game Force" and sell everything from NES and original Game Boy games on up to PS3, PSP and DS games and accessories.
- Braingoo, on 12/10/2007, -0/+3Yoshi's island DS on the other hand, would be. If it where on this list.
- Cyber_Akuma, on 12/10/2007, -0/+3I recently finished it, albet with the bad ending.
If you like point and click adventures like Monkey Island you will love Trace Memory, otherwise its hit or miss whether you will like it or not. - randomizer9, on 12/10/2007, -0/+2Scurge Hive is a pretty good game hampered by the fact that holding down the diagonals on the Game Boy for extended periods of time was murder on my thumb, so it had to go.
- gl77, on 03/31/2008, -1/+3or you could just go to a used game store and get them. my local used game store has dozens of DS games that are fairly popular for 20 bucks and under. if it dont work, bring it back. they warranty all of their games. just bought some super nintendo games there. Zelda: a link to the past for 10 bucks and a SNES controller for 5 bucks.
- racketboy, on 12/10/2007, -0/+2Ooh! I'll need to check mine, but I don't remember my Target ever having it in stock....
- wastedlife, on 12/10/2007, -0/+2Yeah it's a great game, it has some fantastic uses for the touchscreen, microphone and by far the most ingenius use of dual screen's I've ever come across (think mirrors). My only gripe is that it's too short and there was no sequel.
- Corrosionx, on 12/10/2007, -1/+3Not emulation, flash memory in a cartridge, on a real DS. Heaven on earth.
- allisonaxe, on 12/10/2007, -0/+2change the language setting on your DS to japanese and you sort of do.
- gglynn07, on 12/10/2007, -0/+2I agree, Trace Memory is for Genre Lovers only...It really utilizes the DS very well and has an ok story.
- Dohko_Xar, on 12/10/2007, -0/+1He meant 15 dollars + 20...
- glacius99, on 12/10/2007, -1/+2Except you're not really working..
- racketboy, on 12/10/2007, -1/+2Like I mentioned before... I didn't post this to digg, so don't blame me if you think this is spam.
As for my referal links, its one of the only ways I make money on a site that I have invested hundreds of dollars and thousands of hours out of my time on.
I don't go around telling you that you shouldn't get paid for the work you do. - Archmagus, on 12/11/2007, -0/+1Despite the few bugs, Puzzle Quest is still one of my all-time favorite DS games. Definitely worth your money if you like puzzles & rpgs.
- racketboy, on 12/10/2007, -1/+2I've been thinking about trying that one, and I would have probably added it to the list, but the reviews made it sound mediocre. But it's probably one of those games that you'll love it you like the genre.
- PhrosTT, on 12/10/2007, -1/+2WRONG.
Age of Empires for DS is cheap and hell and is one of the best DS games I've ever played. I've put over 100 hours into the campaign mode and it's just awesome. - gglynn07, on 12/10/2007, -0/+1I'm glad someone out there liked this game...I think it would have done better if it was put under a different or original IP instead of Age of Empires...I think some people felt mislead...Still a good game though.
- Klarth, on 12/10/2007, -2/+3The article can't post anything no matter how hard you wish it.
- missingnoh4x, on 12/11/2007, -0/+1There's plenty of legal free homebrew titles that are worth playing. Nethack has been ported!
- HanSolo69, on 12/10/2007, -8/+8spring the $40 for an R4DS.
- adamrgolf, on 12/10/2007, -2/+2without a spring
- Marcsib, on 12/10/2007, -0/+0HA HA THAT IS SO ***** FUNNY
- razmig, on 12/10/2007, -2/+2FTA: "Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow: $15+"
last I checked 15+ isn't under 15...?! - munkyxtc, on 12/10/2007, -1/+1It's referral spam, someone post text only list.
- qtluvsjc, on 12/10/2007, -1/+0no
- racketboy, on 12/10/2007, -2/+1But I explain it in the writeup. You can get it for less that $15 if you hunt around eBay enough (get lucky), but more often than not, it may cost a bit more.
The game is too good to leave it off, IMO. - Moppy, on 12/11/2007, -2/+1and by 15 dollars do you mean ***** you Canadians this ***** is 40 ***** bucks?!?!?!?
- juniorb, on 12/10/2007, -3/+1I second a mirror.
- cloudyprison, on 12/10/2007, -3/+1SELECT DS_Games.Game FROM DS_Games
WHERE DS_Games.Title = 'Castle%' AND DS_Games.Price - DJCult, on 12/10/2007, -5/+3Ehhh, I prefer ROM'S when the real things are aging, and the cartridges don't save anymore. I think you're a bit early for emulation.
