You can send a e-mail with a midi or supported sound file as an attachment to xxxxxxxxxx@vzwpix.com . Replacing the x's with your phone number including area code. NOTE: THIS COSTS MONEY. I believe the cost is 25cents plus the cost of the data call. This could cost you 1-5 dollars, as verizon likes to charge for data.
Most cell companies have a web SMS interface, but as you noticed they're not realiable. To get realiable SMS sent you need a gateway to each carrier, which requires one hell of a in bed realationship. (also some hardware/software) - ass_master, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"item is not supported, cannot be downloaded" I've got cingular, so sent it to my phone (anticipating it not working, and it hasn't) and then I entered the address into my phone and got the above message. I've got a Sony Ericsson T616, so I can download polyphonic ringtones, I've done it in the past. Suggestions?

I noticed my phone did have a little "downloading" icon at the top for about five minutes but it's gone away now and I can't find it anywhere if it did actually download to my phone. Using sprint. well, whatever.

Tried to put an mp3 on...its 27 seconds long and its been like 20-30 minutes since it started...how long is it supposed to take to upload after i click "prepare my ringtone"? so i tried it in another window with another song making it only 5 seconds long and it finished pretty quick...but it didnt go anywhere, it didnt go to a new page and it didnt send a text message. can someone please explain what it is supposed to do and/or how long it is supposed to take?

- 0seth0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Im sorry if i cant give you exact answers, i have cingular and no friends with verizon (i live in kc, most people have cingular because it is the largest cell company in the world or sprint because its world headquarters is in kc kansas. Like i said you might tinker around with it. Try adding a space before you paste it in the message. Try typing a letter, then adding a space and then paste the link into your message. Or, you could try typing in the link as a url. The reason it works for cingular is because when my phone tries going to the address it automaticaly downloads the mp3. You might also ask "smash" since he has found a way for his service to work with sprint. I havent had any friends with sprint find my method effective. (they werent exactly tech savy though) Smash on the other hand apparently understands the workings of all the major carriers. Good luck and if you figure it out please post it.

Now theres 300 ppl doing it, and i have to wait an hour n a half. x.x I'm glad it was on TSS b/c now i know about it...but i wish i knew about it without those other 300 ppl knowing about it. >.

- 0seth0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hey, the service worked for me just fine when it was up!! I have cingular and the z500a sony ericsson. I dont know how old this idea is but you can instant message any mp3 link on the internet to your cingular mp3 compatable phone. i.e. walmart has 30 sec previews to almost any song they sell. All you have to do is right click, copy link location, and then send it via sms from cingulars website (go to homepage and then "send text message" in the top right corner) for my phone i have to put a space before i paste the link, other phones are different. you just have to figure out what works.
