- djmattmcg, on 10/31/2009, -2/+50I'll save you the click. It's Corey Taylor from Slipknot.
- MistrBrownstone, on 10/30/2009, -1/+26um, how would this have been any different than Audioslave in that respect?
- mywhitenoise, on 10/30/2009, -2/+27“We (VR) know the right guy is out there somewhere,” Slash wrote in a MySpace post in August 2009.
Axl Rose? - twishart, on 10/31/2009, -10/+27Why did I HAVE to click the link to find out who it was? It's one of those masked idiots from that stupid slipknot band. If I had known that up front, I wouldn't have given Rolling Stone the page view.
- du4l1ty, on 10/31/2009, -6/+17Suuuuure.
“You know that feeling you get when somebody embarrasses themselves so badly YOU feel uncomfortable? Heard Chris Cornell’s record? Jesus,” - Trent Reznor - bullcutter, on 10/31/2009, -2/+10Wow, 82 diggs.
82 people care about Velvet Revolver? Thats amazing! - ZigZagZilla, on 10/31/2009, -0/+8I never liked Scott Weiland singing for what is essentially Guns N Roses. I mean, he was ***** up enough, but was too happy about it. Axl was ***** up and pissed about it. Big difference.
- johnn11238, on 10/30/2009, -8/+15Chris Cornell is far to accomplished a songwriter to front a super-group.
IMHO - shadowofdeath15, on 10/31/2009, -1/+7I'd rather him make another Stone Sour album.
- ballsanya, on 10/31/2009, -1/+7No.
- anderzole, on 10/30/2009, -2/+7Sebastian Bach?! 18 and life
- PuffyPuf, on 10/31/2009, -13/+18"it just didn’t work — for whatever reason," said Corey Taylor.
Here's the reason: you suck and Slipknot is a joke. - quacker912, on 10/31/2009, -11/+16Lets suck Trent Reznor's dick because we're on digg!
- discoandhaze, on 10/31/2009, -1/+5Lame vocalist tries out for a lame band. No surprise.
- TrevorBelmont, on 10/31/2009, -0/+3I always found it kind of funny. After working with Axl all those years they had to find someone else with extreme chemical abuse problems to screw up there shows and recording schedule. They are the beaten wives of rock and roll who only know how to be victimized.
- tehpwnerofn00bs, on 10/31/2009, -1/+4It didn't work because Corey's style doesn't mesh with VR's style of hard rock. As much as I like Slash and the gang, and as much as I like Corey's work, I couldn't see them working together.
- bmiami69, on 10/31/2009, -0/+3they aint that good even when scott was in
- PuffyPuf, on 10/31/2009, -1/+4it's an interesting debate. I feel that Euphoria Morning was a great album with awesome songwriting and performing. However, teaming up with that talentless plagiarist Timbaland showed a remarkable lack of artistic judgement.
- hivoltage815, on 10/31/2009, -2/+5But his solo record was awful, did you not hear it?
- tehpwnerofn00bs, on 10/31/2009, -8/+11Wait a sec. I can deal with you not liking slipknot, but Corey Taylor is an incredible artist. He has an excellent voice and puts out quite a range of music. This isn't always apparent if you only judge him on Slipknot.
- EnjoyFailure, on 10/31/2009, -0/+3They should go with Peaches. I'd pay to see that:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmFp0I8AZqw - Metadrew, on 10/31/2009, -0/+2Oh I can totally recognize who that is, duh everyone knows what he looks like don't they!
- AmazingSteve, on 10/31/2009, -0/+2Axl Rose. If the Eagles can suck it up, so can GnR.
- kkeut, on 10/31/2009, -1/+3lame submission title. c'mon.
- bjgodby090978, on 10/31/2009, -0/+2STP w/ Scott > VR < GNR w/ Axl
Go back to the 90's line ups and everything will be right with the world. - Eorster, on 10/31/2009, -0/+2By the time they pick someone their new album will be called "American Democracy," and the title will actually be relevant.
- A11YND, on 10/31/2009, -0/+2I think it'd be awesome if Axl Rose joined Velvet Revolver! Think of how amazing they could be! The music of Slash, Duff, and Axl would be sell billions! Too bad that's merely a dream and no such band would ever exist in this world :(
- PhillyOC, on 10/31/2009, -0/+2Or even Temple of the Dog? A bit different but a pretty good project when it existed.
- inactive, on 10/31/2009, -0/+2You know you suck when parodies of your band are better musicians than you are.
This is the case with Slipnuts
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEqQ4honhCM - shibagarden, on 10/31/2009, -0/+1Corey Taylor…neither "well-known" or an "artist"…discuss amongst yourselves.
- johnn11238, on 10/31/2009, -0/+1He was the lead songwriter in both those projects.
- mattysan, on 10/31/2009, -3/+4No, PuffyPuf was right. Slipknot is a joke.
- inactive, on 10/31/2009, -0/+1When you get out of junior high school, this comment will haunt you.
- ApexGT, on 10/31/2009, -6/+7I'll probably be dugg down, but...Slipknot is a good band if you like alternative metal. They've had some solid albums lately. Taylor's other major band, Stone Sour, is also pretty good.
- AmazingSteve, on 10/31/2009, -0/+1I've always kind of thought that the name Velvet Revolver was sort of Slash yelling out to Axl, "Hey, dude! Your band's over here! Come on over." Call me nostalgic but as well as he's done over the years, I don't think Slash ever really got over the family falling apart. It's like watch Mick and Keith try to go it alone. It just doesn't work.
- PhillyOC, on 10/31/2009, -0/+1I though it sort of an "Unknown Comic" thing going on.
- johnn11238, on 10/31/2009, -0/+1Didn't say he was great. Only established
- Metadrew, on 10/31/2009, -0/+1 He created a headline that left off the name on purpose in hopes of more people clicking on it, how am I a douche for recognizing that and pointing it out?
/By the way, a douche bag is a hygienic product and I take that as a complement. - damphoud, on 10/31/2009, -1/+2"masked idiots from that stupid slipknot band." Yeah, and I'm all for the idiot bands who follow the normal cookie cut. They mask themselves so there is no idolization of the musicians, and so the music is in focus. How the masks are of clowns, or what not, is part of the show/theme of their music. I do not enjoy MOST of their music, but there are a few songs which are good. From your post, I can tell you do not know much about slipknot at all, and becuase of this, it was an unfair judgment.
- ubpsanity, on 11/01/2009, -0/+1But isn't Sebastian Bach already an obscure Canadian singer?
I remember him at Rock And Roll Heaven in Toronto. His attitude was always "I'm Sebastian Bach, who the hell are you?" My attitude was always "someone who's not buying your records" - detorn, on 10/31/2009, -0/+1Bach has the best unused voice in rock, but I don't think they want to deal with his personal ***** (booze).
Slash and Axl need to get over it and do a record. - smokewater, on 10/31/2009, -1/+2I get that digg as a whole doesn't like slipknot, but Corey Taylor does have a great voice, he has more than just the normal metal growl, as evidenced by this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CI9GL7178v8&fea ...
- fitz07, on 10/31/2009, -0/+1i just came
- l1tay2, on 11/11/2009, -0/+0yeh corey taylor is a beast... i concur.
- tryferos, on 10/31/2009, -1/+1Sebastian Bach would be a good choice, from what I have heard his voice is still good and he can definitely sing GNR tunes, but since he is friends with Axl I doubt it will happen.
- zuiquan, on 10/31/2009, -2/+2I actually thought it was an interesting departure from what he's known for. Not something that Reznor has either the balls or talent to attempt.
- Shaggy6ster, on 10/31/2009, -3/+3Truer words...
- Metadrew, on 10/31/2009, -1/+1Subby, good job posting the article purposely without revealing the name of who it was because obviously no one gives two ****s about slipknot's singer doing a tryout, good thing I hovered the link and saved myself a click, thanks for the deception.
- sjbdallas, on 10/31/2009, -6/+6Whoa dude. Slipknot kicks ass. I don't get the mask deal but their music rocks.
