Want to avoid file-sharing apps? You can find entire albums - using Google
google.com — Just replace the word "band" (keeping the quotes) with the band or artist you want to find. Should give you entire folders of music. Yes, I know--it's an old trick, but I've lost this link many times and figured many others had, too.

- Lemon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2g2p.org is also nice and easy to remember.
- sashagim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The best and easiest - http://www.goofile.be
- unstatusthequo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If you're a Firefox user, add DownThemAll! with this trick and see what kind of fun you can have... for convenience, http://www.downthemall.net/
Oh and make sure to add mp3 extension to your default file filter...
- ronin9, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11If you like that, you've got to check out 3pm*
*http://derek.a.coleman.googlepages.com/3pm.htm- rokinroj, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8unfortunately for me it is mostly hip-hop, but still a pretty cool site.
- DisposableRob, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Try this one as well:

- BostonMark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yeah, I've used G2P before. A lot of this stuff is covered on:

- fjvwing, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Oddly enough, it doesn't have any MP3 hits for 'Kevin Federline'.
But SRSLY, if I recall correctly, you don't get RIAAed for downloading, but for sharing and uploading.- NightRush, on 10/12/2007, -7/+7If your canadian.
- BostonMark, on 10/12/2007, -18/+4Many p2p programs require you to share a certain amount in ratio to what you DL. This method makes you into a leech and you just take advantage of servers that show indexes and store MP3s.
- eyko, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3@NightRush: Or american, as long as there is no profit. (i think?)
- u8myfoood, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2i dont find this way anymore convient, but it can be in colleges that are HIGHLY anti-pirate.
either way ill stick with torrent or limewire- BostonMark, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Forget limewire...that has so much adware/malware. Try Direct Connect (like DC++)
- decay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1over one year of using limewire, I have yet to get adware, malware or a virus.
- Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7you do know they view this at the googleplex dont you
- dwwatk01, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Pretty funny that the Google advertisement on my page right now is for WinMx.
- SPThom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Add this trick as an search engine in Firefox's search bar:
http://mycroft.mozdev.org/download.html?name=google&sherlock=yes&opensearch=&submitform=Search
Scroll down to Section 5, it's called "Google Music". (NOT "Google Musicsearch")- mannyotr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That rocks. Thank you. I've been using G2P for a while, but this will make it even easier.
- CP33, on 10/12/2007, -40/+0How can I a song and put it in itunes?
- smithfly114, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21Whoa...
- metasin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4you just have to and copy the folder
- Captiva, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2I don't know Borat.
- affanjam, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Captiva, what movie is that guy from, the one on your user image? I remember seeing that some where.
Thanks - neszis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Austin Powers 2, if I recall.
- affanjam, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Captiva, what movie is that guy from, the one on your user image? I remember seeing that some where.
- brstilson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10I almost got into this but the sheer amount of 404 sites these results turn up, its less of a hassle to use bittorrent or just buy legally.
- BostonMark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The problem is the possibility of staleness. Google may have indexed a site in the past. By the time you come upon the results of that site, the data may be stale (old). You will find many empty directories or 404s as a result. This is a limitation of search results in general. Any indexed results can be stale depending on when they were indexed and when you find the result.
- joefrank, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1also try http://www.sonicx.com
No full albums, but tons of MP3 links - CP33, on 10/12/2007, -24/+1Does anyone know how I can save the mp3 and put it in itunes?
- hackmiester, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5If you don't know how to save an MP3 and add it to iTunes, you don't need iTunes in the first place. Fail.
- katieedwards, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2jeez people don't get snobby... on a mac it's option-click on the link...
- metasin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2read the help files.
- booniebar, on 10/12/2007, -16/+1Too bad that Google RECORDS EVERYTHING you type and what links you click on.
- Snakedal337, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6is browsing open directories illigal??
I didn't think so.
- Snakedal337, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6is browsing open directories illigal??
- booniebar, on 10/12/2007, -7/+0No its not illegal by itself, but many courts are using Google information as evidence to convict people for misc crimes, including internet crimes.
- Snakedal337, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8They have no proof I downloaded any thing, they would need to check the logs of the site I downloaded it from. The only proof is that I googled looking for it. AND on top of that they would then only have my IP, which you cant be convicted by.
- sparrowkc, on 11/14/2007, -0/+10But.... That unskipable preview at the begining of the DVD I PAID for said that I'll go to hell if I do this! ...Or something to that effect...
- idiggeverything, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21. Search google for mp3s
2. Connect to someones insecure wireless
3. Use HTTrack
:) - daisy2000, on 10/12/2007, -18/+0Hi, any horse lovers here? Can you tell me which is the athlete in horse racing? The horse or the jockey?

- rabbitofdeath, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1oh my god there goes my whole night - and i was supposed to work on my resume...
- sark666, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I guess this will work for mainstream stuff but not if your trying to find those gems. Ahh the days of napster, you could literally almost find any song. That was the power of everyone using one p2p app.
For ex, I'm into old ska and reggae (lots of stuff under the trojan label). I labouriously transferred some from tape and tried to buy some cds (but a lot of the compliations I want were only on vinyl) napster filled in the rest. Of course though being lazy, my harddrive died and I never backed up and lost everything.
So what's the big p2p app for individual songs of today? Torrents are fine for new popular albums but comes up short with the rare stuff.- FGFox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1For rare stuff I have on and off luck with Soulseek (http://www.slsknet.org/). The ability to download whole directory a file is in is a godsend, no more trying to figure out what album "02 - back dat azz up.mp3" is from (like I could ever forget)
- Johnny1337h4x0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've been able to find pretty much every band's old cd that you can't buy ANYWHERE at all (specifically metal bands like Overmars, Behold... the Arctopus, psyopus....)
- MyDigitalSin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2neat
- jdlewis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Nice link.
1000th user to digg this (never hit that number right on before) - xandifenn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2a few good services out that automatically grab this data, very cool like http://blog.wired.com/music/index.blog?entry_id=1559171 and videos to boot
- TGKnIght, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No wonder we love the goog
- yahoofrom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1there goes a yubnub command called gmp3. kekeke.
- TGKnIght, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Damn I just made a html form for it, but I can't post it as a comment :(
form method="get" action="http://www.google.com/search"
input type="text" name="q"
input type="hidden" name="q" value="last modified mp3 'index of' -html -htm -php -asp"
input type="submit" name="btnG" value="Search"
/form
well there it is, you'll just have to turn it into HTML urself- TGKnIght, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh I just realized you really should add in -cfm
- cf4010, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this old post covers how to find much more than just music:
http://www.googletutor.com/2005/04/15/voyeur-heaven/
it's how I find all my stuff. - sashagim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The best and easiest - http://www.goofile.be
- bluehash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1TGKnIght... i just made a html from what you gave.. neat..
- Technopundit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Holy crap! I though the browser storms I got when searching porn were bad!
- quotato, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1That Apache Server farm is holding every MP3 in the world it seems.
Of course, use www.browzar.com to cover your tracks when your ripping tracks. - ShiggyPop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Same thing for the most part, bu this is what I use: ?intitle:index.of? mp3 [band/song name]
Also, One can use Yahoo China to find mp3s: http://music.yahoo.com.cn/ - HelloNurse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wowww...I am going to be busy for weeks testing out all these links. =D
I have used limewire in the past....but it's not foolproof & I crashed my computer 923847234 billion times. Thanks for alllll the links guys! - HelloNurse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have a question about this....when I click on the download link on most of these sites, it just opens it & plays in my browser....Is there anyway to actually download it & save it to my computer...Does anyone know? Thanks =)
- patFX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0To be honest, it seems a lot more convenient to use torrents or a P2P program.
- Toupee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I really never thought this worked well at all. Maybe I just listen to music that's too obscure, but I usually end up finding a couple of random MP3s and that's about it. Whole albums, never.
- orfeo77, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0You can try this simple file and unprotected directory search engine, it is based on google co-op:
http://searchable.awardspace.com/
http://digg.com/software/Searchable_internet_file_search_made_easy_with_this_google_co_op - TonyKay, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Beats the hell out of downloading OK Computer at 0.4 kB/s in uTorrent
