- sigma220, on 07/17/2008, -0/+20Here's another one to add to the list.
It's Nirvana playing at the Top of the Pops. The producers of the show wanted the band to lip sync/play over their music like the show does for all other performances but Kurt Cobain didn't want to do that so they settled with him singing live to previously recorded instrumental audio and what we got was this...
http://youtube.com/watch?v=dtehDIWrX5U - mal1964, on 07/17/2008, -0/+19The Sinead O'Connor story was interesting, I kind of thought she was a bitch, But i admire the courage she showed standing behind her beliefs
- tehgoatman, on 07/17/2008, -0/+12Or during the MTV music awards (92?) when nirvana was supposed to play lithium and they had wanted to play rape me so he strummed the first few chords of rape me before going into lithium to make them worry.
- tian2992, on 07/16/2008, -1/+12Nice compilation, but i would have preferred Kanye West & Daft Punk's performance Live, as his criticism of Bush was not on an awards ceremony.
- SquigglyP, on 07/17/2008, -0/+11and then Krist Novoselic smashed the ***** out of his head by flinging his bass about 30 feet into the air and then attempting to catch it.
- Rizoh, on 07/16/2008, -1/+10I watch music awards for moments like these, not to see who'll win the popularity race. Good post.
- hollywoodphony, on 07/17/2008, -0/+8What about the one time Nickelback didn't suck? Oh wait, I just made that up.
- inactive, on 07/17/2008, -4/+10Kanye West is a little bitch, he cant write music and thinks too much of himself
- inactive, on 07/17/2008, -0/+6That whole video was eerie and intense. For doing this on live tv and ruining her career over it, she must have some of the biggest pair of (completely shaved) balls known to man.
- donores, on 07/17/2008, -0/+5Regarding Sinead O'Connor:
"The incident effectively destroyed her career, at least as far as topping the charts, but Sinead has persevered and remains a powerful voice in rock and folk music today"
If the author of this article had done some research he would've discovered that Sinead is actually involved in one of the most relevant musical acts today; Massive Attack, which is neither rock nor folk. - FrizzleyFry, on 07/17/2008, -1/+6Buried for misleading headline
Those aren't musical moments, those are shocking moments that either happened to musicians or caused my musicians.
I was expecting shocking performances. - inactive, on 07/17/2008, -1/+6The Nathaniel Hornblower incident was classic.
- Sherman901, on 07/17/2008, -0/+4hahaha, i like the bob dylan one. when he first jumps on stage bob just looks over like, what the ***** man?
- inactive, on 07/17/2008, -1/+5Micheal Portnoy? The Drummer from Dream Theater?
- acevoncash, on 07/17/2008, -0/+4wait, people think george bush cares about black people?
- SquigglyP, on 07/17/2008, -2/+5I couldn't even understand what the ***** he was trying to say in that rant, it was like the ravings of a lunatic.
- dthebear, on 07/17/2008, -1/+4Wu-Tang clan aint nu'ing to ***** with
- AshamedAmerican, on 07/17/2008, -0/+3Kinda like watching a NASCAR race just for the wrecks : )
- auroranatrix, on 07/17/2008, -0/+3Oh that video is classic! Thanks for sharing. I haven't seen it in years!
- michelspc, on 07/17/2008, -0/+3"the most shocking thing I ever hear in music was when John Lennon's male lover Yoko Ono sang like a screech owl"
You mean something like this. If you can get through the 7 minutes and 36 seconds you are a better man than me.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XLFTy0BoNQ - JCougar, on 07/17/2008, -0/+3They forgot to include the entirety of Iggy Pop's career.
Like this acid fueled gem:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=BD_XCECbAEU - hollywoodphony, on 07/17/2008, -0/+3Oh man, that's hilarious! I can't wait for them to put out a new album. Get off your asses guys!
- inactive, on 07/17/2008, -0/+2Everybody seems to hate these guys. Perhaps they suck.
However, they did have the honor and great distinction to be the only band beside Blue Oyster Cult, to play with the great Gene Frenkle. For bringing him out of retirement, I and the world will be forever grateful regardless of their other sins. - inactive, on 07/17/2008, -2/+4Kayne is such a douche
- trevordj, on 07/17/2008, -1/+3How did the moment when L7 threw a bloody tampon at a fan get missed? Or during a concert Jimmy Pop of Bloodhound Gang got pissed on by a fellow band member (it's on YouTube)? Easily Could've been a longer list...
- plup, on 07/17/2008, -0/+2Yes. :)))9
- Charlotte_Web, on 07/17/2008, -0/+2...but no video?
- inactive, on 07/17/2008, -0/+2Ahh, when rock stars weren't playing it safe like they do now.
- vondur, on 07/17/2008, -0/+2I remember watching that, it was f'n hilarious. "This is an outrage, my man Spike Lee should have won!!"
- GJBlizzard, on 07/17/2008, -0/+2R.I.P. O.D.B.
- inactive, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1Kanye West needs a hot caramel enema. Maybe that will fix his issues.
- inactive, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1How could they leave out Metallica at the 1996 MTV Europe Awards? That should be #1!
http://youtube.com/watch?v=y5Ss7obAW5A - inactive, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1word is bond. one of the geatest.
- alexforcefive, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1Yeah, but that would have required more than half an hour of research...
- jd72277, on 07/17/2008, -2/+3the most over-rated drummer out currently? Can't stand that guy and the whole "wow, he has a huge drumset and can play the whole thing! That must mean he's good!" attitude.
- Signa91, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1did anyone else notice that in the second Sinead video, in the part where they showed the small clip of the snl performance, they edited out the ear buds she was wearing? its really odd.
- thegreat59, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1I don't know what it is about that man that just irks me. He can't sing or dance or... anything really. I don't see why he's so well known.
- smpx, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1Digg: Not your personal army.
Oh wait... - JackDarkholer, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1dugg
- ProjectGSX, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1Funny stuff. Just goes to show that its funny when Metallica are total *****, as long as they are doing it to MTV and not their fans.
- joelement, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1No, he's not the Mike from DT.
And jd: if you don't like, don't listen. - acevoncash, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh kurt cobain is dead. welcome to 1994.
- joelement, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1you have to Go With the Flow...
- pradaaddict, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1Haha i love it when Musicians give the system a big middle finger. More Musicians should be willing to be bold and controversial instead of just fitting the mold their contract states they should fit.
Being outspoked against the Pope shouldn't end careers, they should make them. And another thing, more Musicians should be hardcore like Pete Doherty and Amy Winehouse. Not enough musicians commit suicide or suffer for their art. These are the people who have historically led social change and society should always remind them of that. - Chaindrop, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1Holy *****, i didn't know Yoko sounded that bad.
- bays, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1rollins didnt chatter like homme he just did the business
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_xX5dD__to - phbohn2, on 07/17/2008, -0/+0Josh Homme FTW!
