"NEEEEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP!!!"
Oh, snap! You just got limerickrolled!- cheappop, on 04/12/2008, -6/+7Way to steal from a post on 4chan's /r9k/ board. I never knew people on digg could be so original and creative.
- mysedai, on 04/12/2008, -2/+3"Some of the fans donned Astley masks in honour of the 1980s hitmaker, before the crowd sang his trademark hit Never Gonna Give You Up."
I was disappointed to see not one, single Rick Astley mask in that video. I saw an assload of Guy Fawkes masks, though.- KMartSheriff, on 04/12/2008, -1/+2Guy Fawkes masks are win, what are you talking about?
- mysedai, on 04/12/2008, -0/+7Yes, they might even be approaching an epic win. I was disappointed that a British writer misinterpreted Guy Fawkes masks as Rick Astley masks.
- TheFinaleofSeem, on 04/12/2008, -0/+5I think we'll see Rick Astley masks showing up around Halloween.
- mysedai, on 04/12/2008, -0/+2One can only hope.
- KMartSheriff, on 04/12/2008, -1/+2Guy Fawkes masks are win, what are you talking about?
- GooksBirman, on 04/13/2008, -1/+2More like anybody that's been on the internet in the past month. I think the rickroll has lost it's lulziness
- digguse, on 04/12/2008, -35/+5Flash mob will someday get an ASBO. It is sometimes inconvenient to public. Think how many people found it difficult to reach their train platform during this rickmob.
- drewpost, on 04/12/2008, -1/+45Oh for ***** sake - How about we try to stop all the kids getting stabbed to death in our city before going on and whinging about how you have to, on VERY rare occasions, walk through a larger than normal crowd of people.
- KodomoNoJikan, on 04/12/2008, -0/+3I think he was making a very dry joke aimed at the priorities of the UK government.
- ashakeandfrys, on 04/12/2008, -1/+20Excuse them for making the day not-so-mundane. It's people like you that have to ruin everything
- Elliottx, on 04/12/2008, -1/+3Shut the ***** up Digguse....Yeah that's pretty much all that needs to be said.
- digguse, on 04/12/2008, -5/+1No one said that you have to agree with me. That was my opinion. But where did your manners go. Will you talk to me like this when we are discussing this in person. I think not. So why does the manners disappear on internet.
- iamafatguy, on 04/12/2008, -0/+3http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2004/03/19/
- Elliottx, on 04/13/2008, -0/+2No I'm pretty much a straight shooter in life too.
My manners went out the window when you decided to take a totally harmless thing and twist it into something that would be not so harmless. Sure, it COULD have gotten out of control, people COULD have started killing each other. But it didn't, they sang, they did their thing and they left.
You saying that it "inconvinienced" people is utter B.S too. Seeing as half the people there were the people who were just passing by, did you not see the kids in the school uniforms? And the hundreds of bystanders recording it on their phones and taking pictures?
You may also want to get a grip on that negativity of yours. It'll never help you later on in life when you're fetching coffee for a living. ^_^ - digguse, on 04/13/2008, -1/+1I can also give explanation about my point of view just like you gave about your point of view. But telling someone Shut the **** up when they say their opinion isn't right.
I was thinking of myself in that situation when I would go to the liverpool street station and being not familiar with the station I would rely on reading the sign posts to get where I wanted. Finding so many people in the way would certainly cause a delay. Also this can be used by terrorists also when they know in advance that so many people will be gathering there at certain time, so police can ban such events at these places for security reasons. Thats what I was thinking when I wrote my opinion. I enjoyed watching that so many people did something wonderful to enjoy themselves specially when life is generally stressful. But I was thinking of the other aspect of it also.- Elliottx, on 04/13/2008, -0/+3And once again captain cynical enters the room. Yes all of that COULD have happened...but it didn't. There are plenty of events that are organised in the masses and the only ones terrorists actually give a ***** about are world changing political debates and meetings. Do you honestly think that a terrorist would have gave their life to kill a few hundred Astley fans?
And as far as being lost in a train station with 600 people are in...well do I NEED to explain myself there? It was fun and harmless. But then we have Jack Thompson wannabes like you who have to twist and turn every single thing into something bad to scare other the masses.
- Elliottx, on 04/13/2008, -0/+3And once again captain cynical enters the room. Yes all of that COULD have happened...but it didn't. - xOKxWhy, on 04/12/2008, -5/+30Because a nearby passer happened to carry a HD camera.
- noogiewoo, on 04/12/2008, -1/+37and because of course youtube host HD.
(I fell for it though :() - gothicform, on 04/12/2008, -3/+3I have regularly passed by Liverpool Street in posession of an HD camera. The last time was a mere two weeks ago (got caught out then too though)

- mihkeltt, on 04/13/2008, -1/+3someone should write a greasemonkey script for firefox that checks all the youtube links in digg comments against a known list of rickroll video ids and then write a warning next to the link. then again, this is kind of a party-pooper
- TheCoreh, on 04/13/2008, -0/+26 comments above.
- iiBeLiEvE, on 04/13/2008, -2/+2There is no such thing as HD Youtube.

- moolaismyfriend, on 04/12/2008, -2/+3That is an interesting development. That means each country is stopping streaming of copyrighted material outside its jurisdiction.
Kind of sucks.- sporg, on 04/12/2008, -2/+1I believe all you have to do is change your regional settings and its not like the video cant be found elsewhere. These media companies are desperate to control any little thing they can, how pathetic.
- Myonosken, on 04/12/2008, -0/+5Erm, no, its because the BBC is paid for by the British public and therefore intensive resources (like video footage) are unavailable outside of the United Kingdom. Its no conspiracy and well known.
- xaeon, on 04/12/2008, -0/+10In fairness, people in the UK (who watch broadcast television at least) do have to pay well over £120 ($240ish) for the pleasure of keeping the BBC in business.
But I do think regionalising the web in this way is a very silly idea.
- poohat1000, on 04/12/2008, -3/+66FLAWLESS VICTORY
- moocowrat, on 04/12/2008, -3/+159Somewhere Chuck Norris is crying and wondering where all his fans are and why he didn't get a flashmob.
- poohat1000, on 04/12/2008, -14/+44because everyone realised he's unfortunatly got a massive hard on for jesus and is probably a bit of a wanker?
- moocowrat, on 04/12/2008, -23/+6Actually, I was speaking in the third person. I AM Chuck Norris, and now you're gonna DIE!
- sfcaptainrob, on 04/12/2008, -5/+17Pseudo-celebrity death match anyone? Rick Astley vs Chuck Norris?
- dynelol, on 04/12/2008, -3/+5I can't decide who i want to win.
- TheAkolyte, on 04/12/2008, -3/+4Oh god... we need that show now, more than ever!
- erkokite, on 04/13/2008, -1/+1Astley would leave Norris in a spasming, crumpled up heap on the floor.
- YamiJim, on 04/12/2008, -1/+3the turn out would definitely be the exact opposite of "Police said the incident passed peacefully - if not quietly."
- leetdood, on 04/12/2008, -1/+15Finally, now we can cure cancer.
- coresnake, on 04/12/2008, -2/+1Because hes an xtian pretard hypocrite
- palehorse864, on 04/12/2008, -2/+2Interesting use of the X abbreviation of the Greek Χριστος (Greek spelling for Christ). I know the anglo saxon chronicles abbreviated that way. Interesting to see so many people making modern use of it though.
- fireinbergen, on 04/12/2008, -1/+1Well that's because Chuck Norris created Flash Mobs in the first place. He has no need to bask in the glory of his own work.
- ubrikkean, on 04/12/2008, -1/+2Chuck Norris doesn't cry, he... oh ***** it, there's no funny way to end that sentence anymore. And that is why.
- gegroff, on 04/13/2008, -0/+2The last Chuck Norris flash mob some Vietnamese kid got kicked in the head and was permanently disabled. Now there is a ban. Besides apparently (to the fans of Chuck) the Bible is way cooler.
- poohat1000, on 04/12/2008, -14/+44because everyone realised he's unfortunatly got a massive hard on for jesus and is probably a bit of a wanker?
- daxsymbiont, on 04/12/2008, -5/+56The traditional Media can no longer control the people. Long live the internet.

Oh, and speak for your own country- the BBC is still far less biased than most "new" media.- impossibility, on 04/13/2008, -0/+1The Consumerist makes me sick. I hate how they use really generic names too.

- Hraes, on 04/12/2008, -0/+9I got the feeling that they handed out lyrics sheets to random people in the crowd. The people reading off of them looked sort of taken-aback and tentative. Can anyone confirm/deny?
- KMartSheriff, on 04/12/2008, -0/+3Of course. They wanted random people passing by to sing along, so they handed out the lyrics. Very good idea if you ask me, made a lot more people comfortable to get involved with mighty anon.

you know the lules, and so do IIII..." i.e. "flied lice".- DephexTwin, on 04/12/2008, -0/+1Actually that is wrong. In Chinese, r/l patterns like "l" at the beginning of a syllable (onset) and like "r" at the end of the syllable (coda). So "bring" would be "bling" and "tall" would be "tarr" (ignoring other rules of Chinese phonotactics).
In Korean, the pattern of Chinese is exactly reversed. In Japanese, they all sound like "r". - ctabone, on 04/12/2008, -0/+3bunch of buzzkillers in here...
