AGREED. - knightblade2oo4, on 10/12/2007, -13/+113I've said it before and I'll say it again:
People need to hear the message. We need RATM right now more than ever.
BTW I can't wait for possible new tracks on the Bush administration... they could fill a 2CD feature full of them. - idonthack, on 10/12/2007, -3/+99All I have to say is, they'd better not be on a ***** RIAA label this time.
Seriously, RATM getting signed to Epic was the biggest irony of the 90s. - Klarth, on 10/12/2007, -4/+64***** THE RIAA!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+60RATM was a great band, hopefully they will carry on their greatness and not stop with just this one reunion show.
- Klarth, on 10/12/2007, -4/+49***** YOU
- bluetrevian, on 10/12/2007, -5/+48HOLY CRAP... Take the power back!
I can't wait to hear more from Rage. - Paranormalized, on 10/12/2007, -3/+44@idonthack
Their rationalization for being on a major label, doing MTV and magazine shoots, and the rest of that crap was that it helped get their message out, and there was a lot of truth to that in the 90s.
If they had shunned major label distribution, the only people listening would have been some anarchist punks in on "the scene"; they'd essentially be preaching to the converted.
Thankfully, with the prevalence of high speed internet and cheap writable media, the major labels are no longer necessary to reach a large audience. It's easy for us to look back and see their signing to Epic as hypocrisy, but it was a practical decision at the time.
As an aside, I agree that the majors are pretty much evil.

- bigp3rm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+28One of the best bands to see live. Can't wait to see them again.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+28RATM rocks, audio slave sucked, i hope they stay together
- fak3r, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23This rocks, rumor has it that their first 'official' show will be broadcast live on XM *and* sirus! You can tune it on this channel: 09 F9 11 02 9D 74 E3 5B D8 41 56 C5 63 56 88 C0
- fivestarsoul, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18Tech-burn. How long have you been waiting for THAT one, David?
- hotsoda, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20For those of you who don't know, Rage Against the Machine is coming to New York later this year too.
http://rockthebells.net/ - ndonohue, on 10/12/2007, -7/+22I just dont know how to begin with you.
BTW: We supported Che. And we killed more people than he ever did, directly or indirectly - Altanar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17Mommy, please make the mean people stop yelling. *rocks back in forth*
- icepick101, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13I saw rage play in Philadelphia in '99. The entire spectrum was filled.. You can't get that kind of energy in a crowd from any other band. Unbelievable.
- cdf12345, on 10/12/2007, -6/+16***** DIGG
- Franey97, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Just getting people talking about politics is a good thing, you'd think from the arrogance of your post you might have had enough brain cells to realize that.
I guess not. - miamilaw, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13Does someone have a gawdamn video of the show!??!?!?!?!?!?!
- knightblade2oo4, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10They're scheduled for 3 more but nothing mentioned after that. I think they'd have plenty of fuel for tracks right now if they choose to continue as a group.
- LuciusVorenus77, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9"Their rationalization for being on a major label, doing MTV and magazine shoots, and the rest of that crap was that it helped get their message out, and there was a lot of truth to that in the 90s."
You should check out a great new book called 'The Rebel Sell' about how attempts to be 'counter-cultural' and such (like the hippies, like many of the punks, etc.) actually end up reinforcing many of the principles and beliefs of the larger, supposedly corrupt, culture. RATM and the like don't change minds (sorry, it's true) they just confirm what others already believe or, if people don't agree with them, they simply ignore the political part. Thus they remain ENTERTAINMENT and their rants against the establishment make for great ENTERTAINMENT.
You want to rage against the machine? You're not going to do it at a concert, you're going to do it fighting poverty, dude. - rholloway, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8suburban kids with Che shirts fail to understand that it's their heads that will be the first to fall into the peach baskets.
Any American who has a bite to eat on any given day is an idiot for feeling guilty about it. - ndonohue, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8They signed on in the early nineties- way before the RIAA reared the ugly lawsuit-happy head it currently has. Hopefully they will discontinue any contract they have with them, but you never know.
- madzombiekilla, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Boy, is this full of trolls.
If you don't like the band, ***** off and move on to another story. - AJRiddle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I didn't know that Reuters had broken up..How could Rage Against the Machine reunite a news group anyways?
- NyteStarNyne, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Diggin' in the name of....
- Cerebral, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6@tendonut
I do.... I bought tickets to the Rage/Beastie Boys ~$40-$50 gen. admin. Sadly I never got to see them as they broke up about 3 weeks before the show. The kicker is that Ticketmaster didn't want to give me my money back saying that the concert will be rescheduled. It took many calls to finally get my money back as I was stuck in the customer-service-go-round. Ticketmaster sucks! - peestandingup, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Best vids so far from the show:

- swrostmore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"If you go platinum, it's got nothing to do with luck, it just means that a million people are stupid as *****"
- Franey97, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I'd assume their recording contract is up since its been 7 years broken up. Lets see where they end up this time (hoping they stay together long enough to see that)
- Darksaber11, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Yeah, I really, really, don't get that. I love their music, but since I learned that, it just felt... I dunno, hollow or something. 'tis sad.
- NaziHatinChimp, on 10/12/2007, -7/+11Would kill for that bootleg. *wink* e-hem
- millerm277, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6It's already up on the video sites....ever heard of youtube?
- Fallout911, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8My friends saw one of the guys from RATM going to Guitar Center in Cali in a limo.
- zioxide, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4oh the irony.
YOU'RE the idiot. - doczein, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5i miss zach de la rocha's 'locks...
- kidjay, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5i'm a democrat, i'm very liberal. i hate this administration as much as anyone. what zach said was just stupid and ridiculous and drew attention just like he wanted it to.
instead of bitching, do something to change things. when has he EVER done something to change things?
look at trent reznor for an actual intelligent, positive force in changing things. the viral is far more powerful than the in your face offend you until you do something about it thing.
wake up and actually give a *****. - markgl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4mattmoto said it right on above!!!
Yeah, Zack is a moron.
I mean, he says he is all for a socialist revolution... than turns around and gouges us for CDs, concert tickets, and the like... Capitalism at its finest. I love RATMs music... not so much their personality.
They want socialism and live and breathe capitalism all day long. - rholloway, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4you're getting dugg down because the truth hurts. Nobody wants to think they've been had.
- twertyto, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8@buffalobison
Thank you for speaking the truth. If RATM did only thing it was turn in the youth of America into a bunch of mindless clones. Everytime I see a kid with a Che shirt or hat on I just shake my head. Spend just a little time learning about the man and you can quickly see he is no one to idolize. - joe573, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6@twertyto
Actually Zach left the group because, and I quote, "We were spending too much time being Rage Against the Machine and not actually raging against the machine." I don't believe he actually tried to have a solo career. He did a few songs with DJ Shadow but they never got released, at Zach's request. You are right though...their fans did grow up. Now we upstanding members of the community with a substantial voice in how policy is being shaped for the future. I believe you will see us in action during the 2008 elections. Next time, try to be a bigger ass. - nestafett, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7@fran
your a dick, sensible has a good point, its tough to say your outside of the mainstream and you appear in calvins on the cover of rolling stone. yes its good that they get people talking but its also true that they were acting hypocritically - idonthack, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7What?! Who could digg down a mosh pit?
EDIT: Ahh, that's better. - warchant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i hope Rage doesn't make an album JUST about bush...what made them so great was that they were pissed at everybody...both democrats and republicans
- yaveznodo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Sounds like Richard Cheese to me.
Man, Rage Against the Machine are hilarious. Sure they rock hard, but it's an infantile rebellion with no substance. Like a small child shouting for attention. If you want political, heartfelt music that is perfomed by somebody who actually puts his money where his mouth is, check out Billy Bragg., or even go right back and have a look at Woody Guthrie.
