- cambrown99, on 10/12/2007, -3/+32I can sleep well tonight knowing you're on the job!
- memoBug, on 10/12/2007, -0/+28All they need to do is claim that music downloads are being used to finance the insurgency in Iraq by laundering AllofMP3 payment through a shell company in Russia. Then the CIA can wiretap everyone without warrants under project Patriot Act.
Your tax dollars at work! - msaleem, on 10/12/2007, -5/+20@troll, Look at the two articles before you shoot your mouth off and some good might come from it. I linked directly to the source rather than middle-manning through /.
- Smeed, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14When will you realize nobody gives a ***** when you bitch about a dupe?
- Darksaber11, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8This is America, legal doesn't matter until the people stand up and make it matter.
- rejoined, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Wish they'd give up the losing battle already!!
- ElbridgeGerry, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Let's step this up a notch:
***** THE ***** RIAA, THE ***** BUNCH OF ***** *****!
*****. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Legal doesn't matter if you're prepared to throw enough money at the problem (or potentially corrupt lawmakers)!!
- AndrewDB, on 01/10/2008, -2/+4How the ***** can this be legal??!?!?!?!?!?!?!
- bash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1DMCA. Not the Patriot Act.
- medtecherino, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I happily lend my tapes/cds/dvds to friends and co-workers to copy

I esp. hate the fbi/interpol etc. warnings/and studio logo splash at the beginnings of dvds that you cannot ff through
hell, breaking unjust laws like that are a moral duty - actorboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Of course you see the irony of having gig after gig of illegally obtained music, movies and software, and then whining about the other guy trying to skirt the law.
- kupa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What the hell man, Don't give them any ideas!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I'm drunolk
- chorne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Uhh... HELL NO! This is how many times the RIAA has crossed the line now?
- xmuzik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the endless ignorance of the RIAA never ceases to amaze me
- joevill, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Like I said, the RIAA needs to be abolished!
- brucealmighty, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The Patriot Act is a road map for bullies like the RIAA. First you try to scare people that the sky is falling. Then you push thru rules/laws that effectively insulate your organization from any accountability. Finally you prey almost indiscriminately on people who have no realistic way to defend themselves. Yes, some of them are bound to be badguys who deserve whatever happens to them but our system used to be about protecting the innocent first even though it meant sometimes failing to prosecute all of the guilty. These days innocent victims are just considered acceptable collateral damage........
- shortarabguy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This is just disgusting from a point of view of legitimacy. The RIAA is the annoying kid who always followed every single rule, no matter how clearly inappropriate given the circumstances, and here they are trying to undermine the entire basis of American privacy and protection from search and seizure. Don't forget, people, that the RIAA is NOT an extension of the government. It's nothing more than a corporation served with the duty to help other corporations get more money by enforcing laws. Legally, they might be doing the right thing, but they're clearly overstepping their boundaries in enforcement by playing government. It feels like corporate-level bullying on individual consumers in the most sinister way.
Am I the only one in the world who thinks that people can be persuaded into certain courses of action without covert action, spying, and threats, but instead with positive reinforcement? - SouthsideIrish, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Read the Patriot Act and the John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007. All they have to do is label you an enemy combatant, which they could do, if they think you are aiding terrorists. Then you go to Gitmo where you will likely never be seen again.
This probably will never happen, but it could happen. - SouthsideIrish, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Read the Patriot Act and the John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007. All they have to do is label you an enemy combatant, which they could do, if they think you are aiding terrorists. Then you go to Gitmo where you will likely never be seen again, oh, and you cannot talk about it either.
This probably will never happen, but it could happen. - loganhid, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Don't they have noting better to do
- bradleyland, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Only people who take themselves _way_ to seriously sign their posts.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Do you think Kerry and Bush paid for the stuff on their Ipods? I don't.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0:-)
- h2gofast, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Ok kids, here's the real scoop from uncle h2. All of you zealots, yeah you, the progressive student organization ***** who can quote Noam Chomskey and voted for John Kerry, and the young Republicans who get a hard on for Hannity and think Bush can do no wrong (Harriet Miers for Supreme Court? defend that one boyos). The RIAA buys votes from Republicans and Democrats to pass laws that will allow them to pull this underhanded crap. This is how the world works and will continue to work as long as we vote for either one of the two major parties. On the one hand you can realize this is the way that it is and just say "I choose my snake rat bastards over their snake rat bastards," and live with ***** like this. Or you can be real socialist and vote green or be honest about lower taxes / smaller governmen and vote Libertarian. Or you can just buy a new tub of lube and accept the direction of the status quo.
Cheers and a pint of Smithwick's too ya'
H2. - actorboy, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4"In an attempt to change the rules of the game..."
Ha! Funniest description ever. The rules of the game? I thought the rules of the game were, "If you want something that costs money, you have to pay for it." You're blaming the wrong people here. - pcbeast, on 10/12/2007, -39/+8more dupes from former top digg users
