- pigfister, on 12/21/2007, -1/+24Call the scumbag companies by their real names please!
THE RIAA SOUNDEXCHANGE ARE: SONY, UNIVERSAL , WARNER GROUP, EMI.
THE MPAA ARE: SONY, UNIVERSAL, WARNER GROUP, DISNEY, PARAMOUNT, FOX. - stonedslacker, on 12/21/2007, -4/+18As much as I love independent artists and hate the RIAA type bullies, I can't help but wonder if stuffing ballots like this is going to do anything except prove once again that online voting is a highly flawed system. Majority of the people who are going to be voting through the TPB link would not have listened to the music of any of these artists and just vote for Familjen blindly, whether they deserve the award or not. Hopefully, I am proved wrong and some good comes out of this.
Having said that, ***** the RIAA and IFPI. - LordEsoterica, on 12/21/2007, -3/+17It's good to see The IFPI being shown their impotence. The RIAA and its allies are doomed.
- pijakk, on 12/21/2007, -5/+17piratebay it's the BEST

- rivalius13, on 12/21/2007, -7/+13Ahh yes, using the Ron Paul method of stuffing online ballots to make it look like they have offline popularity, I likes.
- RichG13, on 12/21/2007, -2/+6Save yourselves a lot of time and just listen to Kraftwerk. Almost 40 years old and their music is still being sold as new.
- garethkeenan, on 12/21/2007, -0/+4Woops...I read that as "Beer" power. Now the article makes a little more sense.
- diizy, on 12/21/2007, -0/+3They are the ultimate avant-garde group.
- ToadPedestal, on 12/21/2007, -0/+3I know this is way off topic, but I'm really glad you bring this up. By referring to these companies through their association names, we are protecting their brand names from the negative image.
I didn't know who was behind them, but the overlap is pretty profound. There's no doubt in my mind that they created the associations to save brand names. I'm curious why they split it up instead of just making one entity to hold all their interests. - hierophantus, on 12/21/2007, -0/+3Familjen isn't bad. There are a lot of Swedish bands I like much more, though, like The Knife, The Radio Dept., Loney, Dear and Peter Bjorn & John.
- icianom, on 12/21/2007, -0/+2Familjen is the best thing to come out of Sweeden since..... since.... Ikea!
I personally love their hit "Det snurrar i min skalle"! - ryodoan, on 12/21/2007, -0/+2Online voting is flawed because of several reasons.
1. Voter restrictions are easily circumvented allowing multiple votes.
2. I am willing to bet money that at MINIMUM 50% of the people that vote for Familjen will have never listened their music because of this posting.
3. People hate the RIAA and IFPI and will vote for Familjen just to piss them off. - PawFox, on 12/21/2007, -0/+1Woo! Kraftwerk, *goes and listens to: Das Model*
- illt, on 12/21/2007, -0/+1i wouldn't say ultimate, i'd say one of the first to make a large mainstream impact.
- domness, on 12/21/2007, -2/+3Very good move on Pirate Bay's part. I hope the IFPI are annoyed with Pirate Bay's actions! :P
I love to see how Pirate Bay just fights back at opposition, such as the reply's you can view on their website about legal situations. It's pretty funny.
Go Pirate Bay! - hexydes, on 12/21/2007, -1/+2Why is it flawed? Because the people that the IFPI wanted to win, didn't? Why is online voting flawed? Because people voted for an artist without listening to them? Does that really matter? In this case, they would have voted for an artist because of what they stand for, for their ideals. Do the artists the IFPI wants to win even have their own stance on things, or their own ideals?
- BigBrother87, on 12/21/2007, -0/+1My Rick Roll radar is going off.
- inactive, on 12/21/2007, -0/+1and it won't work.
- ayeroxor, on 12/21/2007, -0/+1What's an independent artists?
- TheReport, on 12/21/2007, -0/+1it's actually really catchy
- rivalius13, on 12/22/2007, -0/+1Dude, how could you forget Abba?
- babar77, on 12/21/2007, -1/+2I'm completely ok with #3, and if fact will vote simply because of that and here explains my reasoning:
I walked through the music isle the other day, and started getting really pissed off. Music used to be something to me, now it's nothing. I don't care to buy or even download anything anymore. Because music has come to stand for everything I loathe, no matter what the artist is actually singing about. The music business stands for lack of freedom, entitlement, big business, no meaning, political correctness, censorship, control, etc. Artists today are getting more arrogant than ever, they think they are the only one's in the history of humanity to have an original thought. When in fact, most of what they do is borrowed or influenced from someone else. It's getting to the point you can't create anything anymore without fearing you might get sued from someone else that claims they "own" the idea. Artists and corporations alike are trying to stifle free speech because I might be influenced in the slightest way they them, and therefor I need to pay them to express my thoughts. I can't even watch a wedding video on Vista (in which I paid for and own all the copyrights too) in hi def from my PC because it's not an encrypted signal. I don't want to spend the money to make everything encrypted and it's MY DAMN VIDEO. For my entire life I've heard over and over and over again how it's sooooo necessary for an artist to create without restriction. In reality, artists are selfish. They want to create without restriction, then restrict everyone else so they can make the money.
So your damn straight I'm going to vote for them without listening or even caring if it's good music. Because the music industry has absolutely nothing to do with art or music. So why should I care if my vote has nothing to do with the music? - kamisama, on 12/21/2007, -0/+1The Pirate Bay must be receiving a lack of complaint letters on witch to post witty replies :) Time to find alternative means of pissing them off .
- KillerStone, on 12/21/2007, -0/+0I voted. I wonder what the band or the bands label thinks about all this?
- frostcrow, on 12/21/2007, -4/+4and so it begins.
This is how you break the music industry. This is how it will change. - Scorps111, on 12/21/2007, -1/+1go to 2.33 thats your mum Hhahahha (joking) it is very catchy its got my vote.
- diggerphelps, on 12/21/2007, -1/+1Best.Video.Ever.
