Immortal Technique - Revolutionary Vol 2
Best rapper, period. Ivestigate 9/11. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+29"I would welcome more rap and hiphop with this type of message"
It's out there and has been available since the 80's. What you see on MTV is NOT real rap/hiphop. - Dabellah, on 10/12/2007, -11/+34Eminem has always been this type of rapper, and he knows his stuff when it comes to mixing. Whether or not you like his stuff, you have to give him credit for being able to create actual rythems that flow (unlike most other rappers).
- dazinith, on 10/12/2007, -3/+25well, it is a mixtape.. they typically are spur of the moment lyrics, not a full scale production..
- Sonic_Molson, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23I prefer this public service announcement, mp3 straight from the record labels site: http://assets.interscope.com/myspace/shadyrecords/eminem/music/psa.mp3
- aukxsona, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18why are you surprised? This is standard Eminem stuff...
- topato, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17@maiku00
I aggree with you completly. It seems that maybe hiphop with a message will finally go mainstream again. - zweben, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14He probably won't do any more full scale records but he's still making songs with other people.
- leonwehttam, on 10/12/2007, -5/+19i second Immortal Technique
- Mandeep, on 10/12/2007, -5/+20obviously you know nothing about rap so dont talk about it. eminem, although many people dont like him, is one rapper i can definitely say is a good lyricist. yes there are rap groups that talk about rims and ***** but dont go spreading your lies.
- t3hX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10"Not that I wouldn'tve done the same thing if I could get free music when I was a kid, but now that I rap for a living, buy my goddamn cds"
Best part of that... - Submerge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Eminem hasn't retired. There has been speculation of him retiring, nothing more. And he is still coming out with a new record.
- ronfez, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Can't listen @ work, but will check it out later.
Does the song borrow from Public Enemy's "Public Enemy #1" at all? - exsst, on 10/12/2007, -10/+20I hate eminem, but I have much respect for him with this.
- onestyle, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12I think eminem can do a better job at raising awareness (within a specific demographic) than those non-profits you mentioned
- Driver7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9lmao. That was awesome.
- trapt, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9immortal technique is the shiznite.
i keep tabs on his work via myspace - DanteDefiance, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12This is giving me such a clue!
- StephenChow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Going to have to go with Immortal, too.

- jamesgott, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7eh its cool i just wasnt sure. hell if i was making that kind of cheese by rapping, id do it til the day i die
- Skab, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7IMMORTAL TECHNIQUE did this ohhhhh 5 YEARS AGO! Turn off the news and read *****. ANd Dead Prez
- tastypastry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Immortal Technique is way better. Sark, listen to his other song. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3261480970701377933&q=immortal+technique
And the album art for Revolutionary Vol. 2 is cool.

- RiotActing, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9you need to pull your head from your ass homie...
- esque1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"It's been a long time since Rap (Not Hip Hop, because it's just that, a pop version of Rap). If more Rap music was like this again, I'd probably listen to it more (Like Nas, Public Enemy, etc). I don't listen because for the last 8 or 9 years, it's all been about money, and bling bling, expensive cars, have naked big booty ass women, hanging in the club that normal people can't get into, just excessive and meaningless."
You clearly do not recognize the difference between Rap and Hip-Hop. Hip-hop is a culture that includes rapping, graffiti, breakdancing, etc. Rap is a subset of this. Hip-Hop is NOT a pop version of rap. And while mainstream Rap is for the most part concerned with rims, bling and hoes, there are plenty of artists with deeper messages ie Jedi Mind Tricks, Immortal Technique, any artist that was signed with Rawkus, just to name a few. All of which have put out albums in the last 8 years. Maybe you're just listening to the wrong artists... - sc0tt, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I beg to differ, Eminem knows his ***** when it comes down to knowing what he's singing about, in these types of lyrics. That's probably why he's got to where he is today. Just because he rap's, doesn't mean he is ill informed, he probably knows a lot more than most.
- pencilneck, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6OK, again with the theme of "the man" trying to keep someone from telling "the truth", and yet he seem to be able to say whatever the hell he wants to. I just some how have my doubts the FBI is all over him... or is he into kiddy porn or something?
- anonydigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Well... if some otherwise smart kid in a ghetto ends up listening to this song, gets interested in politics in some level and grows up to be a member of one of those NGOs then I'd say this song's been a positive influence. It's not really unlikely. Eminem/Manson are/have been a cult leader for a bunch of desperate kids and if they preach something positive, whether it's genuine or not, it will end up doing good. Not that I really think the man is after eminem - but he's after a lot of ppl and that's not just a product of conspiracy theories. Ppl get intimidated/lost/die all the time and it helps to have people who aren't sheep.
- moxx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I love Technique, he is one of my favorites, his "Middle Passage" is bound to be a great album, apparently it's going to discuss the Slave Trade and other things of the sort...should be a great album...
- bobbyi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"I listened to "the ghost of Tom Joad" by Rage Against the Machine for a long time"
The song is by Bruce Springstein. - gamabunta, on 10/12/2007, -7/+10This is crap.
If you really cared about "the issues," listening to some track by a rapper isn't the way to go about changing things. Go read up on the EFF, ACLU, Amnesty International, and other nonprofits and do something to make change. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I think you missed the point of the song.
If the FBI was on you for something like this, they wouldn't just pick you up and try you.
If you're "Public Enemy #1", they wouldn't do something that obvious. They'd have you offed. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The Re-Up isn't even an album all about Eminem. It's about Aftermath artists. You lose, good day sir.
- gr4v3d1gg3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Damn ,I was way off. That tesla song came out in 91.Point is they don't play that stuff on the radio.I feel old now.
- smokinjuan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3gamabunta, the thing you have to remember about crap is that every once in a while you'll find a seed in it. While you may gain sustenance from veal and caviar the general population feeds on crap.
Take any genre from any medium and you will find intelligence buried somewhere within. Don't knock it based on the medium or genre when you do find it. - thewebguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2if by "references", you mean "used those terms because they rhymed with other words in the song"
- molecule, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2good album, good track.
- gr4v3d1gg3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I listened to "the ghost of Tom Joad" by Rage Against the Machine for a long time before I found out who he was or that the quotes from the song came from The Grapes of Wrath.
Another good protest song is "freedom slaves" by tesla came out around 2000 but noone heard of it.Of course they don't play that stuff on the radio. - rberger909, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@maiku00 & topato
There already is alot of political hip-hop that is QUITE good. It just doesn't find radio play because it is, well, political. Eminem has a soapbox that he can use to put out political songs. If you want to check out some good political hip-hop check out Immortal Technique, Jedi Mind Tricks, Mr. Lif, Dead Prez & The Coup. Even The Roots, Common & Mos Def make political tracks now and again. - hypoh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The Re-Up started as a mixtape project, but now it's a full compilation album to be released 12/5 in retail stores.
- ProfessorRiffs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What? Artists using political themes in their works? ***** breakthrough *****!!!!!
- ProfessorRiffs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Still, politics in art is not news. It's routine. Good, sure, but routine. Thank you for joining me in Losingville.
- drfranktm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@Vaha: I'd still think he's richer than you and I. Well, I don't know about you, but me, for sure... You know, if an artist got tremendously famous through the internet alone - making no money whatsoever with the music itself -, he or she could still eBay the shirt he or she wore yesterday, for example, or some other random crap, and earn a living that way. Also, if someone were to distribute music for free online, he or she could still accept donations through PayPal and avoid spending his or her life touring... Or use both. Just a thought.
P.S. I do buy CDs from artists that need my money. It's just that I try to encourage the little guys. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2you can preview the pre-up hosted by mick boogie here: http://flawlesshustle.net/blog/2006/11/mick-boogie-pre-up-hosted-by-eminem.html
