- satanatnmtedu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Aye, I knew he was old, but I thought I still had time to see him live.
I am sure Maynard hung over on this final release, too. :) - bertwagner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I've been fortunate to see him perform 5 times in the past few years, and his shows were amazing. His band was always composed of the cream of the crop players and when Maynard played the hair on your body would stand on end.
He was truly one of the last greats. - EchoAlpha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Gotta love the Schilke 14A4A :)
- CrazyHippyGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3He will be missed.
R.I.P. - richmanwisco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3He was my trumpet "hero" as I grew up. All of the trumpets players wanted to have chops just like his, to the extend of getting smaller and shallower mouthpieces. All that ever did for me was give me bad habits, but hey, he was cool.
A true great, alas I never saw him play live. - Ferg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I luckily got a chance to see him only a few months ago. I've always been a big fan but it was something else to see him in person. It was amazing how he could still perform some of those pieces at the age he was.
