- inactive, on 07/01/2008, -0/+18Legal is a big key
- datcrazydj, on 07/02/2008, -0/+17***** THE RIAA
- Kiryuu, on 07/01/2008, -0/+16yay free legal music!
- pixelbud, on 07/01/2008, -1/+12Amazon MP3 FTW.
- Spartanious, on 07/02/2008, -0/+9This is actually a bunch of crap sites. I just clicked through some of them an most of them want you to sign up before you get you "free music". The least flashiest sites have the least amount of gimmics (who knew?) and the most obscure of music (whatever floats your boat though) and the opposite being true as well. Some of the site on the list aren't even free.. They want names and addresses (thats when i stopped). You're better off just torrenting or getting your music from newsgroups. Buried for inaccuracy.
I do realize these site might do well for individual artists but.... the sites themselves are shady. - daFilms, on 07/01/2008, -0/+9Finally some love for Jamendo -- all music is under the Creative Commons license! They do provide a terrific service, both for the listeners and artists. By years end they'll be well known in the States too; it'd be shame otherwise.
Anyone here have their material up on http://www.jamendo.com/ ?? - homesqua, on 07/02/2008, -0/+7Since you asked, hopefully i don't get dugg down a trillion times for posting a link..

Published under the free art license! Hope some of you enjoy it. - vinceislegend, on 07/02/2008, -2/+8http://www.thesixtyone.com

- arielh85, on 07/01/2008, -3/+8woohoo!
- Owwmykneecap, on 07/02/2008, -0/+5or we could continue to get music free, drive the popularity of new artists who then make their money from Radio play demanded by us and gigs, increasing the amount of live music around.
Everyone wins
and the coloured girls sing: Do da-do do do-do...... - NightVortez, on 07/02/2008, -0/+4Eh, doesn't isohunt now carry legal music?
- Bonekhan, on 07/02/2008, -1/+5As a music pirate, am I a hypocrite to be using these websites?
- screamthenrun, on 07/01/2008, -0/+4I use SpiralFrog.... although it doesn't have EVERYTHING, it's pretty good and the ads are just banner ads like the ones we see on digg...
only downside is if you plan on using an ipod because the music is subscription based, but i don't mind using a different mp3 player so it works for me - Jerky1312, on 07/02/2008, -1/+5A few more sites...

Muxtape and Pandora are just streaming. - sassyt, on 07/01/2008, -1/+5Excellent list of sites - bookmarked it :) thanks Manny
- bblande, on 07/02/2008, -1/+5Personally, I prefer to steal music.
- inactive, on 07/02/2008, -3/+7you only need one site - www.thepiratebay.com
- drulzcom, on 07/01/2008, -2/+5Another one is www.drulz.com, but it's geared more towards indie artists
- hayzeus, on 07/01/2008, -1/+4So.... what do I do with my MP3 player once the batteries are drained? Can it be recycled somehow as, say, a colorful salad garnish?
- scy1192, on 07/02/2008, -0/+3the Newgrounds Audio Portal also has plenty of free music, although by people you have (most likely) never heard of.
http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/ - en3r0, on 07/02/2008, -0/+3Legit Torrents has some stuff too.

- arjie, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Dude, just turn it in and get a new one. Duh.
- Jerky1312, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1There were more sites, but I left them out. : )
- arjie, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1I've been using Amie Street since the beginning, and I really like their model. If you recommend a song before it starts to cost anything you'll get money equivalent to how much the song eventually costs. It's pretty cool. And sometimes you get pretty big artists there for virtually nothing if you're in early. Like Whitesnake (which you could've got for free when they first got on) and stuff.
- apophenic, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1inb4 no 8bitpeoples
- uberduger, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Not free, but a good way to stick two fingers up at the RIAA:
CDBaby.
Great listing of independent CDs and artists, with the option to search for popular bands that you like and it gives you similar indie stuff. - Khast, on 07/02/2008, -3/+4Shhhhhhhhhhh!!!! The RIAA may try to shut these sites down, they want control of what you listen to. From their top 40, to what CDs are available at any given time....If they can't control them by copyrights, they'll have to have Media Defender DDoS them because they are suspicious.

- Tyrghast, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Yaknow, if everyone took the time spent searching for legal+free music and spent it pirating, we'd be baby steps closer to killing the consumer-and-artist-rape-machine known as the RIAA.
- Tyrghast, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1considering the number of people illegally downloading music, I'd say 'free' is a bit more important.
- surfchicky23, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1www.legalsounds.com the best site Ive used. 1 dollar an album, great range, great quality. The downside is its a bit slow.
