- MAARRS, on 01/08/2009, -2/+46Zep is Over! i think I dugg this the first time in 1974
- AmyVernon, on 01/08/2009, -1/+24So glad. Replacing Bonzo with his son is ALmost acceptable (saw him in concert with Page years ago and he totally takes after dear ol' dad), but replacing Plant or Page in addition to that would be like calling Paul and Ringo and two other random guys the Beatles.
- MondoPest, on 01/08/2009, -5/+26Awwww.... Alright, that is truly a bummer. Was looking forward to that reunion!
- thelastcivilian, on 01/08/2009, -0/+19I'm pretty sure that something similar was also reported May 6, 1937.
- EatingPie, on 01/08/2009, -4/+22Taking a chance here...
I saw "Page and Plant" a few years back. Very excited about it, since the tour was getting great reviews, and it would be the closest I'd ever come to seeing Zeppelin.
They were terrible. I felt like they were on stage just stroking their own egos, rather than performing music with enthusiasm and excitement. Very disappointing. And I don't see why a new project would fare any better.
Heck, this won't even *be* Led Zeppelin, since two members will be gone. Pink Floyd may have kept the name after losing Roger Waters, but not the spirit, the charisma, they had before. The Who were able to make a career even after losing Keith Moon, but nobody claims it was ever even close to the same. So why would we expect good things from only half of Zeppelin here?
-Pie - mattmacneil, on 01/08/2009, -1/+18Led Zeppelin were over on September 25th, 1980.
- technetix, on 01/08/2009, -2/+19Taylor Hawkins worked out really well I thought. I say they recruit Grohl and Hawkins for a full on Zeppelin tour.

- XeroXenith, on 01/08/2009, -0/+12*galactically long sigh*
- inactive, on 01/08/2009, -1/+11No Plant = no Zep
- BossKey, on 01/08/2009, -0/+10Back then you had to send in your diggs through the Postal Service and check the Digg count in next week's newspaper.
Good times, good times. - freshyill, on 01/08/2009, -1/+10In other news, David Coverdale is really depressed today.
- Slashered, on 01/08/2009, -0/+9For those who didn't see, this is the report published early yesterday: http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/news/20090107_led_zep_ ...
- flyingclutchman, on 01/08/2009, -0/+8because people will go see them because they are Led Zeppelin
- theskillwithin, on 01/08/2009, -0/+7If anything, trying out new singers and nearly coming back into the scene has increased past record sales.
nicely played mr manager - loobis, on 01/08/2009, -1/+7To the grammar people: English bands tend to use the plural. "Radiohead ARE", "Pink Floyd ARE".
Think of it like a sports team. Would you say "The Miami Heat is playing like crap"? - abw1987, on 01/08/2009, -0/+6Not exactly a flip-flop. They were never going to tour as "Led Zeppelin".
***** headlines. - allfatherblack, on 01/08/2009, -0/+5A little off-topic here, but you grammar Nazis need to get a ***** life. Considering how much I hate you as a total stranger, I can only imagine how the people who know you must feel...
- garyi113, on 01/08/2009, -1/+6Anyone who thinks that LedZep was over in 1974 don't know squat about them.
- FishHammer, on 01/08/2009, -1/+5This is probably a good thing. You're better off staying legends instead of trying to milk as much money from your fans as you can. Look what it did for Metallica.
- inactive, on 01/08/2009, -0/+4Queen never once marketed any of their tours as Queen reunions. They specifically put Queen + Paul Rogers on all their promotion materials.
- SillyDigger, on 01/08/2009, -1/+5I are sad :(
- yoshman, on 01/08/2009, -0/+4Damn MrGrandpaMan for getting all the front page stories back then.
- markperia, on 01/08/2009, -0/+4wow that was pretty damn good.
- Drazzard, on 01/08/2009, -0/+4I'm glad they're not recording again. Comeback tours are one thing. But comeback albums can kill a legacy.
I just want to remember the Led as the perfection of rock and roll. No need to possibly ruin that. - perre, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3Led Zeppelin lives on in two excellent all-girl tribute bands...

http://www.lezzeppelin.com/lezzeppelin/ - inactive, on 01/08/2009, -1/+4:(, Plant..stop being a jackass and do a damn tour.
- kokuei, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3Why don't they just make a new band? They can still play Zep songs, Page has the rights doesn't he? But they could actually do a lot more if they just made a new band.
Also dugg for: When asked what new projects Jimmy Page was going to be involved with in 2009, Mensch said, "***** if I know. I'm waiting to hear." - unclefire, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3Uh, I think its a brit who made the comment. Brits and Candians tend to use plural when referreing to a group of people (e.g. a team, a music group, etc.)
We americans tend to use singular terms.
e.g. referrring to detroit red wings (in hockey).
An american would say-- "Detroit is playing well". A cannuck would say "Detroit are playing well". - Fuckmypooplease, on 01/08/2009, -3/+6-Pie.
- kpne1home, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3True but I still would have loved to see 3/4 Zeppelin. That chance is gone now :(
- rafe101, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3You are arguing for the British rules. These publications you refer to must also be using British rules.
It's simple. Americans see a group as a single entity. It doesn't matter how many people make up the group. British consider the number in the group important.
While I have to admit that I think the British punctuation/quotation mark rules make more sense, I think the American way is better in this case. - rheaume, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3Big Scott Stapp fan eh?
- dsendecki, on 01/08/2009, -2/+5Check yourself. Collective nouns are words that imply more than one person but that are considered singular and take a singular verb — like Led Zeppelin. It would have been better to have written: "Led Zeppelin was over on September 25th, 1980." However, that sentence is still lousy.
Of course, if you were being ironic, than I take the aforementioned usage reminder back. Consequently, you are not funny/
/grammarpolice - ngmcs8203, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3Grohl blows that song out of the water on drums. Christ, that would be an awesome tour. Even if they didn't have Hawkins have Grohl play in lieu of Bonham.
- santiago1, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3 I thought of this the other day: Why not Jack Russell from Great White? I mean they did a pretty good Zep tribute album (I thought, anyway).
- GhostRidr, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3On the contrary, Plant is always known for signing autographs and interacting with fans. When he comes to town, he doesn't stay locked in his hotel room. He goes down to the hotel bar, goes out and has a steak dinner, and everyone I've ever heard come in contact with him says he is always very cordial. After 35+ years of being in the spotlight, he still gets it. And yes, I met him a few years ago and he was very cool.
- peestandingup, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3Agreed. This is a good thing. Robert Plant can't quite hit the notes like he used to & a lot of those songs depend on that. That last concert was rubbish.
- DirtyBinLV, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3The tour in 94 (or so)? I thought the show in Indianapolis was top notch.
- Aggaman, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3Yeah, he can't hit the notes, but he's reputedly hitting Alison Krauss instead, so I doubt he cares.
- allfatherblack, on 01/08/2009, -1/+4I agree, and that is why music today ***** blows intense *****. No one knows that back when Led Zeppelin was famous, they *gasp* actually played real instruments and, gasp again, they actually knew how to play them WELL.
Please let us know what your favorite band is. I am confident it will be a ***** terrible one. - inactive, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3Brand recognition. Plain and simple. What's going to sell more tickets? A tour branded as Led Zeppelin or a tour branded with some random other name they dream up with?
- dsendecki, on 01/08/2009, -0/+2I heard a lot of people thought the same thing about the Grateful Dead...
- code, on 01/08/2009, -0/+2chris robinson did pretty well, too
- TheNik, on 01/08/2009, -0/+2Alter Bridge? Creed minus Scott Stapp?
No thank you. - rheaume, on 01/08/2009, -0/+2The doors and Chains were excellent recently, you're talking out of your ass
- TheNik, on 01/08/2009, -3/+5Not everyone speaks the Queen's English, britfag. :(
- guymandood, on 01/08/2009, -0/+2I like Zep.. but really... is it going to be BETTER 30 years later with a different singer? No. Will it be as good? No.
At this point, why screw up something legendary - does Zep need to be further marginalized? Nope. Better to die a hero than a has-been. - Riggs, on 01/08/2009, -0/+2I don't think that would work at all ...
- trafficlight, on 01/08/2009, -1/+3The singer angle is just to cover for the fact that they can't let the guys out of the nursing home unattended.
