- MookiBlaylock, on 08/07/2008, -7/+30I am still following the first blueprint..your telling me there's been changes, damn it. All that work for nothin.
- AndrewLeon, on 08/08/2008, -4/+27Nothing says Hip-Hop like About.com...
- itsjussed, on 08/08/2008, -5/+28hes not a businessman, hes a business, man.
- Rizoh, on 08/07/2008, -4/+21"Someone needs to go at him..."
People have been going at him for years. Jim Jones, Cam'ron, Prodigy, LL, the list goes on. - aladin, on 08/08/2008, -3/+14Reasonable Doubt and the Blueprint are definitely my two favorites from Jay-Z with the Black Album as a second. Almost all of his other albums have been pretty sketchy. I haven't had a chance to listen to all of American Gangster yet but so far I'm not feeling the beats and samples no where near as much as I loved Reasonable doubt and BP1.
I feel Jay-Z is a lot more processed and fine tuned towards selling as many albums as possible as opposed to musical content and quality being the number one goal. After all he's a "hustler" or businessman first before an artist so this makes sense. But I am looking forward to BP3 and it will be interesting to compare it with the earlier records. I certainly hope its not another commercial record. - da_bradler, on 08/08/2008, -2/+13This just in Jay-Z wants more of your money :O surprise surprise.
- convergent, on 08/08/2008, -2/+13I'm fine with it if it's anything like the original Blueprint.
- inactive, on 08/07/2008, -2/+12Well, he semi-retired..and then he came back to make a real ***** album. After his "triumphant" return, he was inspired by the film 'American Gangster' and made a pretty good album.
Now he's making "Blueprint 3", which probably won't be as good as the original blueprint but oh well. - kevinwiz, on 08/08/2008, -1/+11Digg comments make me sad.
- inactive, on 08/07/2008, -2/+12Nelly is not belittled often enough, that guy smokes bone.
- lalilulelo, on 08/08/2008, -1/+11Now let him handle his business, damn.
- secondfiddle, on 08/08/2008, -4/+14Jay-Z and Brett Favre must have the same retirement planner.
- heezy, on 08/08/2008, -1/+10The best Jay-Z albums are the ones where he doesn't have too many collaborations. That'd be Reasonable Doubt, The Blueprint, and The Black Album.
- FurryToaster, on 08/08/2008, -0/+9The Grey Album is a great mix IMO.
- sonar1, on 08/08/2008, -2/+11...and i sometimes listen to ***** beats because i like the lyrics
- inactive, on 08/07/2008, -9/+18I thought J-Zed retired (?)
- heezy, on 08/08/2008, -0/+7Yeah, it's Jay-Z: Unplugged. Recorded in 2001 for MTV Unplugged 2.0
- itsjussed, on 08/08/2008, -1/+8??
he had two albums since his retirement. where have you been? - GalacticRerun, on 08/08/2008, -0/+7Unplugged is the closest to that I guess. With The Roots. Get that.
- normalkid0615, on 08/08/2008, -0/+6who dugg this guy down? go back to school
- ff4marvel, on 08/08/2008, -4/+10Who you know fresher than Hov
- diceau, on 08/08/2008, -1/+7He's worth over $300 million with his recording label and all that ... I think you'll find he's doing this one more because he's an artist that needs to create.
- inactive, on 08/07/2008, -3/+8Keep it going, because he keeps coming back!
- bignerd, on 08/07/2008, -7/+12Just b/c I think Jay-Z is overrated, I'm a Nelly fan. Nice logic... Uhhh, yeah! Bet you got good grades in school!
- winmywii, on 08/08/2008, -3/+8I thought the American Gangster album was pretty good.
- alkajazz, on 08/08/2008, -0/+4I'm stoked for Blueprint 3. It's going to be interesting with DJ Premiere on board to produce some tracks.
- kevinwiz, on 08/08/2008, -3/+7You're a ***** *****.
- via509, on 08/08/2008, -0/+3How have you not gotten through American Gangster yet?
It's not War and friggin Peace. - jebzaki, on 08/08/2008, -0/+3Riddle me that?
- phillykid162, on 08/08/2008, -0/+3I for one liked Blueprint 2.
- barkingPumpkin, on 08/08/2008, -4/+7I grew up on rap and hip hop and I agree that most mainstream stuff has become an embarrassment, but this isn't necessarily a trend that is unique to rap/hip hop...it's true across the industry. But who's to say that you have to listen to the mainstream stuff and belittle the entire art based on your limited exposure?
Just like Disturbed or whatever other crappy ass band aren't indicative of the entire hard rock scene, neither is Jay-Z or Kanye indicative of the entire rap scene. Instead of bitching about how crappy an entire "art" (your quotes, not mine) form is, turn off your radio and start looking for decent stuff. I promise you, it's out there.
Assclown. - darladoon, on 08/08/2008, -10/+12still rather listen to dilla
- winmywii, on 08/08/2008, -11/+13The funny thing about rap is that I will occasionally catch myself listening to some ***** lyrics just because I like the bass line.
- liberalelite, on 10/28/2008, -0/+2Listen to Takeover and then listen to Ether - it's not even close. Plus Jay's response in the end was Supa Ugly - an embarassingly weak track. Jay-z is good but Nas is for the children.
- jebzaki, on 08/08/2008, -0/+2nope, no Nas you can clearly see who the winner of that "Beef" was.
- loutang82, on 08/08/2008, -1/+3obviously you
- gl77, on 08/08/2008, -1/+3@pingpongli
as long as a person gets their point across is all that matters and all that is needed for effective communication. If i wanted someone to hand me the remote control, instead of saying "excuse me, can you please hand me the remote control? thank you." i could just as easily point to the remote control and grunt, indicating that i want that person to hand it to me. effectiveness. that's all that matters. - thesea, on 08/08/2008, -0/+2jay-z is tied with elvis for second most number 1 albums (behind the beatles)
- libertao, on 08/08/2008, -2/+3When I come back like Jordan, wearing the 4-5, it ain't to play games with you
- PikkonX, on 08/08/2008, -3/+4Ah, the smell of ignorance in the morning. Bask in it! Pumpkin speaks the truth.
- indraneel24, on 08/08/2008, -0/+1American Gangster is very good, right behind all of the ones you mentioned.
- inactive, on 08/08/2008, -0/+1@da_bradler:
your british and you just want everyone to listen to your *****, skinny-jeans, big-hair and cranky voice Indie music. well you can piss off. and Im am white. so... - ksgant, on 08/08/2008, -0/+1Behind who?
- kidcodea, on 08/08/2008, -2/+3phatbeat!
- PaddyTheChump, on 08/08/2008, -2/+3I 100% agree with pumpkin.
WillyNilly: try listening to some non mainstream rap, and get your head straight. - alkajazz, on 08/08/2008, -1/+2Jay-Z did get ETHERED
- armandgunerio, on 08/08/2008, -1/+2dugg for pulling the words outta my embarassed mouth
