- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6with rootkits?
- Elranzer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You guys are reading this the wrong way. All this article is proving is that we've got the Macrovision protection cracks, and it's so easy even YOU can do it. That's all. You must not have noticed the jokes in the article...
- Rice, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2And you do this why? Because you hate your friends?
- Machine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2And if that's too hard... give your friends and family clothes with scorpions in pockets.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2electronicmaji needs some therapy ASAP. I'm not trolling either. This guy sounds like he is frayed.
- YouKnowMe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why?
- F1R3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is such a stupid idea...
Your going to put songs on a CD and give it to someone who didn't pay for it (pirating), and then copy protect it? Is the Irony lost? - DisposableRob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Heh, That would be so mean.
At last, now indie bands can screw over their fans like real major label bands. - starflyer3000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I loved the article, very tongue-in-cheek. I especially like the last line: "They’re a great way to spread holiday cheer while preventing anyone else from spreading it further."
- rockdave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1He didn't seriously mean to give another person a copy-protected CD! Why don't some of you get that? It was a joke. He was simply making a joke about how easy Macrovision's copy-protection method is to duplicate and get around. Honestly...
- FarcicalFart, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Useless, but cool.
- feedle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Jokes or not.. it's still.. st00pid.
- siouxmoux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why?? That too mean for the holiday season.

- digg - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Lame. It can still be ripped with EAC, which is all I ever use.
- kilmer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I said the same thing.
I was like 'cool' then thought 'why would I do this?' - falloutsyndrome, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0great birthday gift to the unknowing pirate ;)
- Dan_2gngCrew, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0oooh ooooh I wanna put a rootkit on mine!!
- 16x9, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2At this very moment, in Japan, a SONY junior executive and DIGG reader is rushing to the board room with news of yet another method for screwing their customers.
- mistshadow2k4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hey not a bad idea for the Xmas season. Make a cd of the old family photograph album and copy protect it so your other relatives can't get copies except from you! Or something like that... I'm still trying to figure out how this would be useful. I guess that's the point of the article, huh?
- chembro84, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@siouxmoux
Because pirates are sinners! - drycounty, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1hate to be the spelling Nazi, but it's sarcasm, sheesh! YOU'RE WELCOME!!! ;)
- Export, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0what the hell kinda prick would give a copy protected cd to another person? no digg.. this story is garbage.
- ph3rny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Does it have rootkits?
- ArthurSucks, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1SARCASIM
Yeah, lets stick are heads in the sand about copy protection and bitch about how it's bad. The hell with understanding the problem better! Ignorance is truth! Hate is Love! Or some other crap!

Lets take a deep breath, calm down a little bit. Lets laugh at what in one blog entry, we've learned what the RIAA probably paid hundreds of dollars to learn. - dshigure, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think you are all being a little harsh on this article.
It's interesting to read how Macrovision ~thinks~ it can lock down the content.
It even said right on the article that a Mac or Linux machine isn't even affected
by it. I personally don't feel threatened by something that can be broken that
easily. - FunkyGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I want to know how to make a CD that doesnt let you take the files off....
- gamerzworld, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is a great story! heh I think Ill give one to my ex GF............now I can finally teach that bitch a lession! lol
- Waja, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This guy has a very dry sense of humour - top digg.

***** your nerves. Quit bitching about our bitching. - neopran, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0why in the name of God would ANYONE want to do that ?
- rosemat2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0interesting but why would you want to do that?
- telltarget2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I guess in the description of the story I should of mentioned the humor related to the story and saved a lot of people confusion.
For those that didn't read the story. There is no rootkit installed or any bad software, that's why it's labeled passive protection. It's just a multisession audio CD modified a little. - clevershark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's as good an idea as the unpopular "kick your friends in the nads for Christmas" idea.
- RobbieCrash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Lets see a show of hands from the people who posted on this who got the joke?
Two? Maybe three? Way to go people. - nouhad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Shutup you whiners lol
- ArthurSucks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@drycounty
No worries, I'm only as good as my spellchecker. HAHAHA! - darkprinc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Whenever i wanted to copy - protect one or more of my Cd's i just scratched it.
no big deal. Player still playing but you can't copy without the loss of data (works with audio) - borderpatrol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How could this be used. One word folks, keyloggers.
Now I can track those people. - firehydra2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Useful, but that's just gonna make a renegades of Sony and Microsoft...
- Darklighter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No digg, this is lame and copy protecting CDs to give to your friends and family is soooo uncool.
- KyleGoetz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Two wrongs never make a right, *****.
- borderpatrol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How can this be used? One word, Keyloggers. Now I can track those people.
- angelschambers, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Let's track down the person who submitted this and beat the snot outta him! This is stupid...
- africanherbsman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0You're spreding a virus!!!
...***** - electronicmaji, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0What is your peoples ***** DEAL? Im sick of all this moaning about copy protection. Dont like it dont by it go run open source music and software.
