TINFOIL HAT LEVEL EXCEEDING 9000! - col381, on 12/14/2008, -13/+42The Illuminati - A Secret Society dedicated to the destruction of Religion, Global Secularism, and establishment of a World Governmening body: Sign me up.
- skeetshot, on 12/14/2008, -1/+24"Neighbors used to see tiny Ludwig standing on a bench to reach the keyboard, his father standing over him shouting and threatening, the boy weeping as he played." ...That's how you raise a star.
- BullHunter, on 12/14/2008, -4/+27Sounds like a case for David Icke
- borez, on 12/14/2008, -2/+19Did you know, Beethoven used to use a rod attached to the soundboard of his piano which he would bite down on so he could hear the notes he was playing. He had acute tinnitus, poor bugger couldn't hear a damn thing.
Now that's genius. - Surferess, on 12/14/2008, -1/+17Wow, who knew?
- Deeh, on 12/14/2008, -3/+18The article was great and informative, but I disagree with the general assertion that none of these secret societies exist in any form today.
I know there are a lot of paranoid people who are over the top, but to me you have to be just as stupid to assume that there is no such thing as a conspiracy, or that every conspiracy would be leaked or eventually uncovered.
Whatever, people on both sides of the spectrum like to think they know it all, I guess. - barktwiggs, on 12/14/2008, -7/+21Great, now we're gonna get another crappy Dan Brown novel...Da Ludwig Code!
- e1evene1even, on 12/15/2008, -2/+15You've got to get the the 22 degree (Price of Libanus) before they let you in on the real story. : )
- BuryBrigade08, on 12/15/2008, -4/+17As a freemason, I am continually surprised by the amount of retarded myths conspiracy theorists continue to attach to freemasonry. Slate is wrong, there never was any relation between freemasonry and the Bavarian Illuminati. It was a failed attempt to infiltrate the fraternity.
- schavira, on 12/14/2008, -2/+14BEETHOVEN WAS A LIZARD
- Kriztov, on 12/14/2008, -1/+12I'm sorry, I couldnt read the article, that Jackson Browne ad was just staring at me too much.
- AdmiralJimbob, on 12/14/2008, -4/+13The article's talking about the Bavarian Illuminati, the group that actually existed in the 18th century. Not the group of neighbourhood jokers who go around and leave dog turds on Alex Jones' doorstep every other week to keep him paranoid.
- Zackinabox, on 12/15/2008, -1/+9"They own hollywood"........So Illumaninati are Jews?
- beabis, on 12/15/2008, -6/+13Thank you. Your disinformation is greatly appreciated.
- ChunkerMunker, on 12/15/2008, -1/+8My take is....
There are elite families in this world that pass on wealth and power from generation to generation.
There are wealthy and powerful leaders that want to keep that stature and increase it if possible.
There are powerful people that meet in secrecy that decide the faiths of the every day citizen worldwide.
FACT: There are many powerful people in different institutions that are Freemasons.
FACT: There are powerful people in different institutions that are Skull and Bones members.
So whether one wants to call them the CFR, The Man, rich *****, crooks, politicians or the Illuminati it doesn't matter. They still dictate our lives whether you one wants to admit it or not, IT HAPPENS!!!
So one can believe what they want, at the end of the day, these people will still dictate what happens. - 0tis, on 12/15/2008, -0/+6It would be easier to take you seriously if you could spell words like "Darkly"... but even if this were true, would it matter what they are called? Shadowy forces may well be controlling the world, but 'The Illuminati' is just a name to scare people with tin foil hats on.
- revslaughter, on 12/14/2008, -2/+8Ewige Bloomenkraft!
- inactive, on 12/15/2008, -3/+9Not many people know this, but J.S. Bach was also influenced by the Illuminati. His Brandenburg Concertos? They were originally titled the "Bilderberg Concertos".
- quez, on 12/14/2008, -0/+6Err...not Beethoven.
- bryantee, on 12/15/2008, -0/+5Fools! *evil laughter*
- Raian, on 12/14/2008, -0/+5Stanley Kubrick-- especially with A Clockwork Orange
- Hobbes24, on 12/15/2008, -1/+6***** you and ***** your world government.
i may not be a religious person, but i'd be willing to fight along side one to prevent fascists like you from stripping away their rights, and imposing an Orwellian hegemony - Kriztov, on 12/14/2008, -1/+6Well, it gives Tom Hanks more work...
- moriarty23, on 12/15/2008, -0/+5fnord
- quez, on 12/14/2008, -0/+5Beethoven never wrote horn concert like Mozart did, but other than that, he actually gave the horn a much greater prominence in his orchestral works than Mozart did. The three horn soli in the trio of the third movement to the Eroica? Mozart would never have done something like that.
- MrFunStuff, on 12/15/2008, -0/+5The Duke of Brunswick, Grand Master of World FreeMasonry called for the universal disbandment of his order
"I have been convinced that we, as an order, have come under the power of some very evil occult order, profoundly versed in Science, both occult and otherwise, though not infallible, their methods being black magic, that is to say, electromagnetic power, hypnotism, and powerful suggestion. We are convinced that the order is being controled by some Sun Order, after the nature of the Illuminati, if not by that order itself."
Adam Weishaupt (founded the Illuminati) said
"The great strength of our Order lies in its concealment; let it never appear in any place in its own name, but always covered by another name, and another occupation. None is better than the three lower degrees of Free Masonry; the public is accustomed to it, expects little from it, and therefore takes little notice of it."
George Washington
(Writings of George Washinton, Vol 36)
"I have heard much of the nefarious, and dangerous plan, of the Illuminati..."
"I was not my intention to doubt that the Doctrines of the Illuminati, and principles of Jacobinism, had not spread in the United States, On The contrary, no one is more truly satisfied of this fact than I am"
Albert Pike in addition to the letter he wrote Mazzini in 1871, another he wrote to the heads of his Palladian Councils July 14th 1889 fell into hands other than intended. It was written to explain the Luciferian dogma concerning worship of Satan and worship of Lucifer
Albert Pike
"That which we say to the crowd is "we worship God"...The religion should be, by all us initiates of the high degrees, maintained in the purity of the Lucifer doctrine..Yes!Lucifer is God"
And for some reason
Mark Twain
"My own luck has been curious all my literary life; I never could tell a lie that anyone would doubt, nor a truth that anybody would believe."
Mark Twain

- 0tis, on 12/15/2008, -0/+4Mozart rote lots of good musics but Beethoven righted better ones, in my Opinion.
- 0tis, on 12/15/2008, -1/+5Your point being?
- ciaran036, on 12/15/2008, -0/+4He didn't say that.
- depro9, on 12/15/2008, -0/+4"We shall have World Government, whether or not we like it. The only question is whether World Government will be achieved by conquest or consent."- James Paul Warburg appearing before the Senate on 7th February 1950
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyHNgbrsoTo - BuryBrigade08, on 12/15/2008, -2/+6Sorry conspiracy theorists - there is no degree higher than the 3rd degree. One side order, primarily in the US, called the Scottish Rite, goes up to the 33rd - but those degrees build upon the first three. There is no such thing as a high or low level Freemason. That is the entire point of the fraternity - all members meet on the level.
By the way, I am a 32nd degree Scottish Rite mason.
Please do your research. - Betrayal, on 12/15/2008, -0/+4chicks dugg beethoven
- oneiroi, on 12/15/2008, -0/+3See, I read this earlier and thought it was a kind of lame article. It goes something like this:
"Beethoven was a dude who grew up playing music and became great. Illuminati was a secular humanist secret society. Someone Beethoven was taught by was with the Illuminati, Ode to Joy is evidence of the Illuminiati's influence, the Illuminati are dead. THE END"
I didn't reaaally see the point. - Hobbes24, on 12/15/2008, -1/+4well like you said fascism and Orwellian regimes are interchangeable so i guess that was a bit redundant on my part, but i believe my point still stands.
normally a secular government would be a good thing, take the usa for example, we have one of the most secular governments and our people are free to purse what ever type of religion, or lack thereof, they desire
(of course we have some issues we need to make progress in, but for the most part our government is not religious)
it's when you combine secularist governance with a government dedicated to the destruction of religion that it becomes something much darker.
at this point your government isn't about the expansion of freedom, it's about the crushing of individual liberties. you no longer have a goverment that's seperate from religion, you have a goverment that's dedicated to confomity, making SURE everyone believes in what they want you to. and before people say:
"so what, they arnen't religious=no wars!"
think about Stalin, and see how well the "no religion=no war" hypothesis works out.
and again, i'm further bothered by the hegemonic aspect of this new world order, because normally people would be free to emigrate from a country so dedicated to stamping out freedom, but a wold government would make that impossible too. - lovestospooge, on 12/15/2008, -0/+3MJ12
- bryantee, on 12/15/2008, -0/+3I see your point. You've actually changed my perspective.
- phrees, on 12/15/2008, -0/+3your comment is invisible - please repost ;-)
- omjeremy, on 12/15/2008, -3/+6What a crock of BS.
- WhiteHatTrick, on 12/15/2008, -3/+6Where is freedom in destruction of Religion, Global Secularism, and establishment of a World Governing body?
- eleraama, on 12/15/2008, -0/+3Nah, that's a stretch. Mozart, on the other hand, deliberately wrote Masonic references into his operas (Die Zauberflöte [The Magic Flute]* is chock full of them)
*Admittedly, DZ is singspiel, not an opera, but who knows or cares? - bryantee, on 12/15/2008, -1/+3Of course, because skepticism is the primary symptom of being crazy not emphatically buying into insidious conspiracy theories.
- WhiteHatTrick, on 12/14/2008, -2/+4They own hollywood. They are trying to desensitize us, among many other things.
- hinchb, on 12/15/2008, -0/+2Is this sarcasm
- inactive, on 12/15/2008, -2/+4Bleh i'm sorry but the Illuminati conspiracies are such *****. For one thing why the ***** is the Illuminati taking forever to form a one world government? If they engineered World War I and II, couldn't they have just ensured the destruction of Europe lead to a European Union in 1918 or ensured either Hitler or Stalin won the war? I love all the Animal House "double secret probation" theories they throw out all the time too like Hitler was secretly a Zionist or Stalin a CIA agent.
Why is it so hard to believe history happens through happenstance? - schavira, on 12/15/2008, -0/+2Really?
- inactive, on 12/15/2008, -0/+2We can cure the world with love and "speculation" book sales.
- WhiteHatTrick, on 12/15/2008, -2/+4And why would you believe the deceptively appealing and inaccurate/incomplete wording the original poster used is a proper representation, no pun intended.
Also, what non slave state do you run to when it is now the entire world? - Midtowner, on 12/15/2008, -0/+2They had WoW back then?
