- demonbaby, on 04/09/2009, -1/+454Wow guys, this is awesome! I've been looking for a new place to view music videos from all of my favorite UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP artists! It's exciting to me that I can finally be one hundred percent sure I'm sending revenue to the biggest, most out-of-touch dinosaur of a giant multi-national corporation when I watch music videos online! I'll even be helping the RIAA stay in business - those guys have been having some tough times lately, so they need our support! You know, sometimes I would find music videos on YouTube from my favorite UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP artists, but it appeared that they'd been uploaded ILLEGALLY by some fan trying to steal money from hard-working lawyers and executives! It made me feel dirty for watching videos that weren't provided to me officially by UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP - it felt like I was stealing! Thankfully all of that moral ambiguity will be gone now that VEVO is here! If history is any indication, all of my favorite UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP videos on VEVO will include all of the great features that I, the consumer, have come to expect from UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP, like LOTS of cool advertisements during the videos, and a special feature that makes sure I can't repost the video on anyone other websites - that would be stealing!! Golly everyone I'm SO PSYCHED for this cool new website!

"I'm sorry but due to licensing, Vevo is currently not available outside of the USA. We are working with our partners to bring the service to your country and we hope that at some point in the near future you will be able to enjoy Vevo. In the meantime please leave your e-mail and we will e-mail you when Vevo becomes available in your country. Thank you, The Vevo Team." - fleischkopf, on 04/09/2009, -1/+37Wow, just saying "Vevo" makes me feel retarded.
- keviniskool, on 04/10/2009, -0/+26No simple /s can properly describe the amount of sarcasm in your post. No sir, you're going to need something like this:

- Rowan187, on 04/09/2009, -0/+11Is this even possible? I didn't know the web was capable of streaming videos. Wow! Amazing product idea from an amazing record company! So unique....
- whazdown, on 04/10/2009, -0/+11Yeah exactly; pretty much every major music video is blocked for us Brits at the moment, pretty fustrating.
- EvilDr.X, on 04/10/2009, -0/+8Yeah, I don't think I've ever seen a digg count jump up that quickly, lol.
- Xtremeleewyte, on 04/10/2009, -0/+8Came to tell them that...Darn you're faster.

- StatVoid, on 04/10/2009, -2/+8This was the best use of sarcasm I've seen on the internet in many, many years. You, my friend, are officially the funniest person on Digg, imo.
- zavlin, on 04/10/2009, -0/+6read post again, this time wear sarcasm-glasses.
- KDeTo, on 04/10/2009, -0/+6Well said Rob.

- Ipokemonkeys, on 04/10/2009, -0/+3You don't get out much, do you?
- lopla, on 04/10/2009, -2/+5***** i hate music videos, there could not be anything more fgay than watching bands go through this marketing exercise. ***** hell.
- jas0nmichael, on 04/10/2009, -0/+3just as i was thinking the recording industry couldn't possibly be
more out of touch with consumer trends i read this. things are going to start getting real interesting in the next two years. i concur with you Rob. - rdas7, on 04/10/2009, -0/+3"the leading music video service in the world" — for UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP Artists™.
- SniperZero, on 04/10/2009, -0/+3"We are working with our partners to bring the service to your country and we hope that at some point in the near future you will be able to enjoy Vevo."
So basically never. - Pharamond2, on 04/10/2009, -0/+3Wait, does this mean that UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP actually knows what the internet is?
- FreDre, on 04/09/2009, -1/+4So, that means the artists are going to get paid more with this extra internet revenue?
I guess not... They'll find a way to tell them that they have to pay for the bandwidth or some ***** like that to avoid paying them.
***** crooks. - TVarmy, on 04/10/2009, -0/+3Why can't they just simply name it for what it is like most other Google services? Google Music sounds fine to me. Google isn't a startup anymore, they already have the strong brandname. They don't need to make a new one. Then again, it says it is Universal's project, and Google is just providing the technology, so maybe they don't want it too closely tied to Google.
I kind of wonder if maybe Google wants it to fail so that Universal will go back to using Youtube to host their content. - Daniel591992, on 04/10/2009, -0/+2Vivo would have been much better.
- McNash, on 04/10/2009, -0/+2Doesn't mtvmusic.com already do this?
- rowlandsc01, on 04/10/2009, -0/+2And I can only dream of the day when you can download a digital version of an album on the internet for almost the same unjustified price of a physical CD. pfft like that'll ever happen...
- torvik, on 04/10/2009, -0/+2BOYCOTT VEVO
- stuffradio, on 04/10/2009, -0/+2Watch, it will be an American only service just like most of the other semi good services.
- MavRevMatt, on 04/10/2009, -0/+2demonbaby != Trent Reznor
demonbaby = Rob Sheridan - SenorBudd, on 04/10/2009, -0/+2I hate it already.
- bat-21, on 04/10/2009, -0/+1Except it's already being used by ATI and Nvidia.
- Ttech2, on 04/10/2009, -0/+1We are Google. Resistance is Futile.
Actually sounds interesting. - ZoomBoy, on 04/10/2009, -0/+1Yeah but it's not called Vevo!
- zanofthejungle, on 04/10/2009, -0/+1Wow, as though the music video wasn't enough of a dead art form. This Vulva thing is just like poking the corpse with a stick.
But y'know, everyone thinks that showing music videos on the internet for free without advertising is a victimless crime. But have you guys thought about how it affects your favorite recording industry executives? If everyone did this sort of thing, they wouldn't be inspired to come up with new ideas on how to bleed the music industry dry. Sure, you support them by buying albums, going to concerts, listening to the radio, watching MTV, watching movies, watching television, investing money--so why don't you want to support them by letting them turn a free service into something profitable? Nobody thinks about the little guy. You all need to stop being so selfish. - skillian, on 04/10/2009, -0/+1Hah, how approppriate - "This video is not available in your country".
- Subcide, on 04/10/2009, -0/+1Why would you bother spending effort boycotting it? Just ignore it. Everyone else will.
- shagg187, on 04/11/2009, -0/+1Hey Rob! Can't wait to see you on tour! I'll try to recognize and scream your name again :P
- MisterToad, on 04/10/2009, -0/+1The stupidity of record labels is baffling. For an industry so rapidly losing ground, you'd think they would be eager to (1) learn what their customers really want, (2) make it easy for customers to use/see/touch/hear their products and (3) market their products in a way that leads to maximum exposure.
Instead they cripple, subvert and 'protect' their releases, thereby pissing off their customers and further creating an 'us' and 'them' mentality. And until recently, actually treated them as theives! I have no sympathy at all. Let them all fail, and let's see a new business model rise from the ashes of these once good companies now run by myopic bean counters with no love or understanding of music or artistry.
Strangely, I work in music. I earn money to continue to work with music, not the other way round. Universal Music and their cohorts just wouldn't understand. - xrock2006, on 04/10/2009, -1/+2Wa Wa VEVO!
- brhad56, on 04/10/2009, -0/+1and that's good enough for me
