- sleeknerve, on 11/05/2007, -0/+48Sounds cool, except i dont want facebook to turn into myspace
- jdoe562, on 11/02/2007, -0/+35Now all we can do is hope that they don't allow the option to add auto-play music to your profile page.
- Narcism, on 11/02/2007, -0/+18Apparently you don't have friends who've downloaded 300 applications... at which point it IS like a myspace page.
- aaronm67, on 11/04/2007, -1/+17...until every profile page we go to starts playing music automatically and has a dozen different "apps"...then it's exactly the same as myspace.
- slashbot, on 11/04/2007, -7/+20Why is facebook trying to be like myspace???
UGH, I liked it better before all this new app bloatware - jdoe562, on 11/04/2007, -2/+15It already did when they added applications.
- phoenixp3k, on 11/01/2007, -0/+7As long as you don't add a ton of stupid apps to you profile you'll be fine. Plus you can minimize the apps of your friends profiles so you don't have to be bothered by it all.
- jspegele, on 11/01/2007, -0/+5This just in: You're using one right now!
- dboy3587, on 11/01/2007, -3/+8myspace is so messy compared to facebook
- jspegele, on 11/01/2007, -0/+5I'm fine with what they're doing so long as they don't let users edit the style of their profiles (as in font size, colors, backgrounds, etc . . . especially backgrounds).
- plbland, on 11/01/2007, -0/+5That would be possible if my idiot friends didn't add 6 or 7 applications a week.
I wish you could block all apps except the ones you have installed. - T8erT0T, on 11/02/2007, -3/+7Oh, I've seen this episode before. It's a rerun from the show The Rise and Fall of Myspace.
- gebsta, on 11/05/2007, -9/+13i really like the potential for Facebook Music because its going to be much cleaner and more easy to use than myspace music.
- jdoe562, on 11/01/2007, -3/+7This also just in: miindriis feels insecure about the fact that nobody wants to be his friend on social networking sites, so he feels the need to insult anyone who wants to keep in touch with old friends.
- jspegele, on 11/01/2007, -2/+6Even if a profile has 100 applications, it's still much MUCH easier to look at than half of the myspace profiles out there. It's amazing how many people don't understand that dark blue text is not readable when your background is a dark photo of your favorite crappy band.
- bacon_skoda, on 11/01/2007, -0/+3except nothing on myspace is worth doing that.
- angelgrl, on 11/01/2007, -0/+3Facebook is already turning into Myspace...its a lost cause. Oh, and I like the term myspam very appropriate! I hate myspace...
- FuzzplugJones, on 11/02/2007, -1/+4I for one am looking forward to saying on stage every night, "Check me out at facebook dot com slash 030g30j2mv4fv9mwfm34w09uj3f3."
- jspegele, on 11/01/2007, -0/+3Hopefully Facebook will give users the option of whether or not to automatically play music when visiting another profile. So basically, I would check a box that says "Don't automatically play music", and I would never hear music from a Facebook profile without actually clicking a play button.
I'm still waiting for the option to hide all applications when visiting another profile. - xerus, on 11/02/2007, -1/+4Since Facebook introduced applications I've been staying away. I just want to see what I wrote on your wall, not where you've been, what you just listened to, how you scored on "Legally Blonde Quiz 5", how many donuts you ate today, how to play beer pong, or what level ninja pimp you are. Now Facebook will be littered with ***** bands too? Hooray Myspace 2.0!
- Cymrubeats, on 11/05/2007, -0/+2http://digg.com/tech_news/Facebook_taking_on_Myspa ...
Exclusive my ***** ass. This was posted on the 8th of october. - jspegele, on 11/01/2007, -0/+2I didn't mention MySpace at all. It's not that I'm too lazy to look for that option, it's that I hate MySpace too much to use it.
- MScrip, on 11/01/2007, -0/+2Facebook was fine when it was a communication platform consisting of messaging, comments and photo sharing. Do you really think people actually asked for VAMPIRES and PIRATES?
- inactive, on 11/01/2007, -1/+3Exclusive: Facebook is becoming Myspace.
- trollick, on 11/05/2007, -0/+2I refuse to use facebook, whatever it is, until they have dancing baby animations.
- abandonedhero, on 11/02/2007, -0/+2MySpace does provide that option, as long as you're logged in. People are just too lazy to look for the option and to turn it on. Instead, they like to bitch and complain about it.
- PotoinMan, on 11/02/2007, -0/+2If the meetings were top-secret, how do we know they happened?
- wilhel1812, on 11/01/2007, -0/+2I'll keep use facebook if they dont start playing songs when i enter a page.
- jspegele, on 11/01/2007, -0/+2A. I know how to use my browser, thank you though.
B. My browser isn't, and isn't going to be, Opera.
C. It's not worth doing that just to read: "Hi my name's _____, I'm a 21 years old, I go to college, I like beers and hot girls WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GO YANKEES WOOOOOOOOOOO" - c0ldfusi0n, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1As much as i don't want to see all cluttered a-la-myspace profile pages on facebook, i think this is a good thing. MySpace had some interesting artists that I was never able to find anywhere else. Mostly Indie, obviously. As long as FaceBook does it appropriately (a-la-last.fm) this will be a nice addition.
- NStuart88, on 11/01/2007, -1/+2Coming up: 5 day weather and traffic...Stay tuned *Cue Anchor music and fade to commercial
- angelgrl, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1i agree exactly with what you said about myspace...but I think you'll find that in the next 6 months or less you'll be using Facespace.
- anthaneezy, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1http://www.deezer.com - Who needs MS or FB?
- catalysis, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1I guess I'm the only one who doesn't think the original concept of facebook was that great and revolutionary. I mean, it's ok and had it's time, but if it didn't change it would have been left in the dust by other sites.
- gebsta, on 11/07/2007, -0/+1Facebook Music is here... http://digg.com/music/Facebook_Music_Launches/who
- banq59, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1You are correct.
- jordanwlee, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1Very interesting. Should be a more "professional" approach for artists than myspace.
- Damian91, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1awww does miindriis need a friend?
- redeye666, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1There's a little app called Music Wall in facebook - apps.facebook.com/musicwall lets artists add there music and lets people add to their profile and send to their mates. Not much music in there though, although they are full downloads, which is cool. Artists add their music at music.ok-cool.com - doesn't look finished though... Wonder if the announcement will put these little guys into trouble?
- wilhel1812, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1hope they will fusion with last.fm
- suziejones, on 11/05/2007, -6/+7myspace music sucks- anything facebook does will certainly be better than myspam.
- jawbreaker4fs, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1Should be neat.. just don't allow music to play by default as soon as I go to someone's profile like myspace.
Sometimes I just don't care what your musical preferences are, friends, I just want to stalk you. - MalDON, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1It's called ilike...
And weren't the applications supposed to get rid of the need for Facebook to release anything new? - phoenixp3k, on 11/01/2007, -2/+3"Major and independent label artists and will register their sub-domain name through Facebook. Like “www.facebook.com/insertbandnamehere” for example."
Isn't a SUB-DOMAIN more like "insertbandnamehere.facebook.com" ? -- just saying...
And what is the source of that news? I mean it just says it's happening... on who's authority? - wilhel1812, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1i dont think they will provide music automaticly at all.
- PenguinWrangler, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1I believe Mark Zuckerburg, or one of his affiliates, has stated on numerous occasions that this was not going to happen, and that they were very happy with their affiliation with iTunes....but I could be wrong.
- bacon_skoda, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1spambook or facespam?
- wilhel1812, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1yeah, i dont use orkut, but google makes it and it looks really nice. let's start getting everyone to use that!
- jspegele, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1OK, so nobody asked for those applications and yes, they're are ridiculously stupid . . . but go take a look at how many of your friends are using them.
- timlogsnow, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1or when your "friends" put little annoying videos/music on your comments space(myspace)! takes up a lot of friggin bandwidth!
