- Swarms, on 03/05/2009, -12/+69It's amazing how many people don't like rap, don't like Eminem, yet still took the time to click on an article and make a comment. It's fine to voice an opinion or say that you're not a fan, but comments like "Who gives a *****" is a waste of everyone's time. (I know...so is this)
- TomK88, on 03/05/2009, -5/+56Can't wait, but I just want DETOX to come out already.
- BpWally, on 03/05/2009, -8/+39Why does he look like a 16 year old straight outta juvie in that pic? He's like 31
- bigp3rm, on 03/05/2009, -9/+40It will be a refreshing change from the crap that is on the radio now. Can't wait to hear what him and Dr. Dre have put together.
- D1Foley, on 03/05/2009, -3/+22This happens anytime a rap related article is posted. Don't know why, but some people just feel the need to hate on rap anytime they get an opportunity to.
- TomK88, on 03/05/2009, -3/+20No talent? Widely regarded as one of the greatest rappers of all-time. Can't really find anybody who knows rap who would call him talentless. Also, how is he a fake thug? He rarely has any "thug" content in his music.
- DiZASTiX, on 03/06/2009, -2/+19do you not remember his past singles? "My Name Is" "The Real Slim Shady" "Without Me" "Ass Like That"...he always has the radio friendly, catchy, dumbed down single...it's a business strategy, and it's why his albums go platinum.
I hated all the singles mentioned above, but the albums were brilliant (except Encore). So judging this album on the radio single isn't really valid. - 33PercentGod, on 03/05/2009, -8/+23Eminem's new song "crack a bottle" sounds more like a Katy Perry song than it does a rap song. It sounds like he's just trying to cash in on the new "club" sound that everyone puts out.
This is not the same man I remembered putting out songs like Criminal and Role Model. - Shawon, on 03/06/2009, -4/+18Real happy to hear this, I'm a big Eminem fan, one of the few rappers that I actually listen to and the best rapper right now. I was really looking forward to Relapse, but now there's also a Relapse 2 in the same year!
I'm hoping it's as good as Marshall Mathers LP and The Eminem Show was, those were classics and two of the greatest albums of all time. Yea Encore was sorta meh, compared to his other classic albums, but it wasn't like it was trash. But I'm hoping he goes back to his old style.
And for those dissing "Crack A Bottle", that wasn't even a serious single, and it's just on his album and will be on 50's new album too, so it's not really even an official single, just released to get some buzz out for Em and 50's new albums. - eraser34, on 03/05/2009, -1/+12I still listen to Chronic on a monthly basis. Still IMO the best rap album ever created.
- AmazingA, on 03/05/2009, -3/+13Seriously- shouldn't the ability to ignore an article weed out pretty much all the people that "don't give a *****"?
- TomK88, on 03/05/2009, -1/+11Dre has already created enough material to release ten Detoxes. He's just a perfectionist and is wary to tarnish his name by releasing music that isn't up to his standard (which is extremely high because Chronic and Chronic 2001 are both all-time classic albums).
- tatltat, on 03/06/2009, -1/+10I forgot about Dre
- Swarms, on 03/06/2009, -1/+9"Dre has been getting piano lessons from Burt Bacharach and has been reinterpreting "symphony stuff" by Frederic Chopin for Detox"
- techguru2006, on 03/06/2009, -4/+12Hopefully he can produce something as good as "Lose Yourself" again.
- dk75eclipse, on 03/06/2009, -0/+8Lose Yourself was great, but I'm hoping he can put out something as powerful as Stan, Kim, or Rock Bottom again...
- alexsk8ca, on 03/06/2009, -0/+6Yeah ***** rap, since when have words and message mattered in music? Now those people on American Idol singing other peoples *****, now that's music.
- ghostrc, on 03/05/2009, -2/+8I think you guys are both wrong. Hes 36 according to Wikipedia and Imdb.DOB 17 October 1972
- Swarms, on 03/06/2009, -0/+6Which is why I included that line about "It's fine to voice an opinion".....
- bbqsalad, on 03/06/2009, -3/+9This guy sucks, and totally not my style. But at least his lyrics have some sort of meaning and his beats arn't ***** club anthems, and he doesn't have a autotuned synthetic voice. But i'm just an angry old man. Get off my lawn.
- TKaine, on 03/05/2009, -2/+8Really? I took one look at the pic and thought it was another "men who look like lesbians" post.
- TimDigg, on 03/05/2009, -9/+15why does eminem look like a middle aged lesbian?
- Urgoz, on 03/05/2009, -2/+7Usually his singles kind of suck, in my opinion. Such as Just Lose It and Without Me.
But I highly doubt that Crack A Bottle will be what Relapse will sound like, because Proof died in 2006, so Eminem's gotta have a ton of anger built up to release on the album. - ColonelJessup, on 03/06/2009, -5/+10Does he always look so angry in all his photos? He's a young, white, millionaire - what the ***** does he have to be angry about?
- iMLoStx, on 03/06/2009, -4/+9Cant wait. Hopefully its more like his older albums.
- noncn4mst, on 04/15/2009, -0/+5I just burned a CD of several of his albums and have spent the week rediscovering him. (So, obviously happy new material is coming out)
What I found interesting is that, when it came out, I hated "The Real Slim Shady" - too overplayed and dumbed down. I knew it was a hook to get on the radio... but now that I listen to it years later, it really is a catchy, funny song! A hell of a lot better than Lollipop or Low (boots with the furrrr).
Speaking of which, what the hell happened to Ludacris and Mystikal? ... (and Afroman and Nappy Roots, etc? We had a few good years there. I love some ATL boys!) - IIECONII, on 03/06/2009, -0/+4Guess who's back (x7)
(dre-beat)
"I've created a monster..." - DiZASTiX, on 03/06/2009, -0/+4Yea I guess they're not bad tracks per se, but knowing what Em can do, it's annoying to listen to anything subpar. And btw...
Luda just dropped a dope album:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theater_of_the_Mind
Mystikal is locked up
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mystikal#Legal_issues
idk where the ***** Afroman is.
Nappy Roots dropped last summer, haven't listened to it yet but heard it was good
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Humdinger - mediamaker, on 03/06/2009, -0/+4"they say that rap's dead I believe it's just the fans" -Wale
- oceandead, on 03/06/2009, -0/+4i'm not sure if you noticed or not but hiphop has been around for well over 20 yrs and more people listen to it in one shape or form than ever before. it would make sense that people in their 30s still create (and listen to) hiphop.
- Swarms, on 03/06/2009, -1/+5"In an interview with Loud.com, DJ Quik revealed that Dr. Dre has recorded around 400 songs for the album, and he himself had heard about 60 of them. He also revealed that Dre has been getting piano lessons from Burt Bacharach and has been reinterpreting "symphony stuff" by Frederic Chopin for Detox"
- killthefluxx, on 03/06/2009, -0/+4thats true, but if he thinks like that he will never get ***** done because he'll get better and better and his old tracks wont sound as good to him. this happens to me with my artwork and graphic design pieces, past stuff that I thought were masterpieces are now omitted from my portfolio
- alexsk8ca, on 03/06/2009, -2/+6Then why the ***** did you come to comment on it. I don't comment on the Jonas Brothers stories, I avoid them.
- TomK88, on 03/05/2009, -2/+6The Real Slim Shady was a single off The Marshall Mathers LP, the same album with Stan (among other classics) on it.
- inactive, on 03/07/2009, -0/+4No offense to shady but his new song is so bad, and Dre's rap in it is really bad... the whole thing reminds me a group trying to hang on to the 90's. Hopefully something good comes out from the album because eminem has done some great stuff for hip hop (see stan, lose yourself, etc), but lately it seems like he's trying to appeal to the soulja boy demographic (which is probably where the money is at) and therefore doing nothing but garbage.
- inactive, on 03/05/2009, -3/+7Gloomygus.....how about you wait until the cd drops BEFORE you write him off? Don't know about you but I've yet to hear a cd with out a song or two that I can live without.
I'm not sure Em needs to cash in on anything. Do you know what his net worth is?
Right around a hundred ems (Pun intended).
that would be a 1 with this many zeroes following: 00000000 - inactive, on 03/06/2009, -0/+4Or like bragging about having you as a son.
- roxgod666, on 03/06/2009, -1/+4Funny how you mentioned him being a fake thug when his roots are probably tougher than most rappers out there. He grew up in a Detroit ***** with a drugged up mom and no dad and dropped out of school to rap. Sounds as real as it can get.
- D1Foley, on 03/05/2009, -1/+4Why don't you go take a look at Billboard Top hundred songs for the week, I don't think it's done quite yet.
- NoodlePDX, on 03/05/2009, -1/+4Totally agree, his singles normally do appeal more to the pop/clubbing crowd (although I even question "Bottle"). Here's hoping he has done some serious introspection over the last four years. Despite whether you agree with his message or not, it is hard to deny the ingenuity of many of his rhymes.
- elliotys, on 03/05/2009, -2/+5Why? Have you listened to Blackalicious, Lyrics Born, Jurassic 5, etc. . . There are a lot of socially concious rappers out there that elevate it to an artform, while making a statement.
- JakeW, on 03/06/2009, -0/+3And I suppose you, on Digg, think you're this hardcore gangster that we're all wishing to be?
Cool. - alexsk8ca, on 03/06/2009, -1/+4I think if you hate any whole genre of music, then you haven't given it a chance and probably only listen to what you hear on the radio. I used to hate a bunch of kinds of music, until I gave them a chance. Also music to me is more about the lyrics then anything, and good rappers are better with words then just about anybody. I think whining about how your girlfriend left you or how you will never find love is more shameful then rapping about actual problems in the world like poverty, drug abuse and violence.
- isiz, on 03/06/2009, -1/+4Underground hiphop, look it up
- sickthoughts, on 03/05/2009, -0/+3The difference being, of course, that The Real Slim Shady was a ***** good song.
Crack a Bottle is wack
Great beat though. - Blind0825, on 03/06/2009, -1/+4Do you even think before you type?
- jmewhite1, on 03/06/2009, -1/+4did you even listen to the words in his verse.... get out of here
- inactive, on 03/06/2009, -1/+4mf doom and buckshot are still around. what are you talking about "bring back". and if you look back at where hip hop started, it began at partys that Cool Herc threw. they played PARTY MUSIC. like "crack a bottle". do you think when b-boys were on the floor, the mc was saying far out stuff like mfdoom?
50 talks about party music and street *****. hey do you know who else does? BUCKSHOT, WU-TANG, and a grip of other underground artists.
There is more then just 1 type of hip hop style. Personally, i hear it all from 50, em, jayz, snoop, to little brother, madlib, Dilla, and doom. Nobody has a right to say someones genre is garbage. especially if they dont know what they are talking about. - hoodratthangs, on 03/06/2009, -2/+5actually I don't think anyone saw this coming at allllllll.
