Most of the time when we thumb through our CD collections we don't even register what some of our favorite bands' names are much less what they mean, but every band has a story.

Their ability to come up with a band name rivaled their ability to write quality music, so they offered a prostitute a nickel if she could come up with a good name. She listened to their music and said, "You suck! Now here's your nickel back."

Should I take time out of my day to try and impress other people on a social media website by insinuating that my tastes are superior to those of the author? Maybe I should write a two to three paragraph comment about how some of these bands are sell-outs. Maybe I will impress someone else if I say that my favorite bands are actually "Godspeed you Black Emperor" or one of Will Oldham's random side projects. I swear guys, I don't need attention, I'm not insecure and I'm not a douche bag. Right?

    I don't believe they're very big in the US, but in Europe they're huge.

  • ducttape36, on 06/02/2009, -3/+15once upon a 90s, some ***** hippy named dave wanted to score with girls. he heard that by playing in a band he could achieve this. so he wrote a bunch of ***** music which lacked any imagination and creativity and formed a band. since their music was made with no imagination or creativity, they decided to name their band using the same formula. this also ensured dave would be able to use his band as a pick-up line. (hey baby, its your lucky night cause im dave matthews. you may have heard of my band, dave matthews band. yeah thats me. dave ***** matthews. drop trough and lets do this.)

    Hate to break it to you but not everyone on Digg (or elsewhere) shares your taste in bands.

    Now bury me for being both pedantic and daring not to bow to Radiohead and NIN.
