- Sublex, on 10/12/2008, -3/+166Dugg for the putting Soulja Boy as #1.
Dear god, he must be shot. - Fhwqhgads, on 10/12/2008, -1/+112OMG one page!
- KingGorilla, on 10/12/2008, -0/+70I think him getting shot would only boost his sales
- inactive, on 10/12/2008, -0/+67The new "retard rap" trend also needs to be stopped. We don't need anymore stupid hit singles like Aye Bay Bay, Crank That, and Lean Like a Cholo. That ***** ruins hip hop.
- ElectroStep, on 10/12/2008, -5/+72I'm pretty sure hair metal has come back as emo.
Guys look like girls, make up, fried hair, bad guitar solos.... My Chemical Romance are a cheesey stadium/hair metal band if I ever saw one. - innocentsinner, on 10/12/2008, -2/+56And now R&B music is overrun by vocoders. Can't sing? Not a problem, sound like a robot today!
- kangy3213, on 10/12/2008, -1/+50soulja boy sucks
- MackenzieArbour, on 10/12/2008, -0/+31Eat a dick, Soulja Boy

Jesus Christ I have nightmares every time I see the modern-day Boy George.
Soulja Boy is a ***** idiot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nebKYFxXrLY - suinmind, on 10/12/2008, -1/+22Trend 0: "Musicians" in their 80s, are on concert tours again, for a living.
- slvrbullet87, on 10/12/2008, -1/+21How about top 40 radio... nothing pisses me off more than top 40 radio.
- baysidecomedy, on 10/12/2008, -0/+20Dugg for 411 Ur B34tz R B310ng 2 Us
- ak4444, on 10/12/2008, -4/+22There's a reason we get nostalgic for music from the 80's and 90's; music today is just terrible in general, there are some bands that stand out but largely it's flooded with rap and mainstream pop garbage being forced down our throats.
- BingoPower, on 10/12/2008, -0/+18"Do They Know It's Christmas?" (1984), "Feed the World" (1984),
Weren't they the same thing or have I just had too many pinacolades? - muleskinner, on 10/12/2008, -0/+17I lost it when I clicked on the link for "Smell yo Dick".
I wasn't sure whether I should be laughing hysterically or be highly disturbed. I - omnithought, on 10/12/2008, -0/+17***** yer Crue and Cinderella. Iron Maiden and Judas Priest FTW.
- 1randomnumber, on 10/12/2008, -0/+15Didn't you hear? Someone shot Soulja Boy.
You know who it was?
Youuuuuuu! - inactive, on 10/12/2008, -0/+14"7 Music Trends Whose Return Must Be Shot"
- oblique63, on 10/12/2008, -1/+15I don't know, I think even 80's Hair metal used to have more dignity than that...
- modix, on 10/12/2008, -0/+14UB40 is the British unemployment benefits form. It was not some number/word mash-up.
- MakanGuru, on 10/12/2008, -0/+12In other news, New Kids on the Block have just released their comeback single "Summertime"
yes the end of days are upon us...... - NinjaGod, on 10/12/2008, -4/+14Hair can stay, ***** the rest.
- Brian48216, on 10/12/2008, -0/+10I would gladly have allowed 7-2 to happen so long as #1 never happened.
- inactive, on 10/12/2008, -0/+9if soulja boy was shot we would just have to hear about his annoying ass even more.... he would go down in history as "one of the best rappers ever" even tho he wasnt
- Klisk, on 10/12/2008, -0/+9I think people forget that hair metal was all about the guitars. I don't see why people don't miss it!
That being said, the current generation really needs to lighten up and stop taking ***** so serious. Everyone is so on the straight and narrow nowadays, it's undeniable. They're afraid of being gay, or a "loser."
C'mon. There's nothing wrong with putting on a stage performance, something outrageous and ridiculous for the sake of art. The hilarious extravagance of hair metal was the whole point. No one should want the genre to really be gone.
Then again, with bands like Avenged Sevenfold, I guess it's come back in a more 'macho' version of it's previous form. Which kind of makes it suck. - digghasnoethics, on 10/12/2008, -0/+9Looks like someone has no idea why UB40 was called such.
- boson3, on 10/12/2008, -0/+9Dugg for listing Divas and Charity Supergroups for eardrum-piercing injuries and diabetes-inducing sappy songs respectively. I don't miss the spandex and makeup of the 80's hair metal groups, but do miss the screaming guitars.
- Victorface, on 10/12/2008, -1/+10We can stop them by not liking them.
- joshmoney, on 10/12/2008, -0/+8Not to be the music snob but its most likely not Vocoders you're hearing, its heavy auto tune and yes, there is a difference. Just to clear up the never-ending confusion:
Vocoder - Synthesizer Oscillator/Wave modulated by another signal (usually a human voice) ("Around the World", "California Love")
Autotune - Voice that is processed with a Pitch Correction algorithm (the "Cher"effect, Daft Punk's "One More Time", T-Pain etc...)
Talkbox - An analog style of vocoder where Synthesizer/Guitar is modulated by actually running the signal into the artist mouth using a plastic hose (Pete Frampton, Earth Wind and Fire)
Basically one is a synthesizer you're hearing, the other is an actual voice!
Snoop Dog is partly responsible for some of the recent confusion since he used a Vocoder/Talkbox in his video for "Sexual Eruption" but the actual effect on his voice was Autotune. - Chachuka, on 10/12/2008, -1/+9Guys... just go listen to good music. It's out there. Done. :-)
- inactive, on 10/12/2008, -0/+7Hip hop was ruined over 10 years ago
- icepick602, on 10/12/2008, -1/+8I was hoping the Autotoner (I.E. T-Pain) would make this list....... that ***** is terrible
- omnithought, on 10/12/2008, -0/+6"Aziz!!! Light!!!"
- kingmanic, on 10/12/2008, -4/+10*Facepalm* people said that about the 90's, the 80's, the 70's, ***** even some old men said that about the 60's. If you looked objectively you'd find in general 80% of everything is garbage and the gems are the things you remember and that biases your comparison. Most people compare the music release in 1 year to the music from a 10 year span in their memory. They compare the back street boys circa 1999 to Micheal Jackson entire career or Journey 1983 to Eric Clapton's entire career.
The market is broad. If you look there is music for everyone. If your radio stations don't play what you like hit the internet. iTunes and all the other services have democratized your music enjoyment. - rowlodge, on 10/12/2008, -1/+7 i hope the stock market crash will get rid of them.
- ISurfTooMuch, on 10/12/2008, -0/+6Yes, they were indeed the same song. I was waiting to see how long it'd be before someone noticed.
You get a digg for that. :) - slvrbullet87, on 10/12/2008, -5/+11Atleast hairbands talked about ***** chicks emo bands talk about ***** dudes.
"We are always sleeping around, and we are sleeping for the wrong team... We're going down down"
Yeah that isnt gay or anything - Charlotte_Web, on 10/12/2008, -0/+6Now they're just Creepy Middle-Aged Men on the Block.
- JRW5061, on 10/12/2008, -0/+6there is still real hip hop. it's just not popular anymore
- JRW5061, on 10/12/2008, -0/+5couldn't agree more
- bagboyrebel, on 10/13/2008, -1/+6At least the hair metal bands had at least some singing ability.
- sweatymongoose, on 10/12/2008, -0/+5"especially since you're not at all serious."
I am fairly serious about it actually. - ISurfTooMuch, on 10/12/2008, -0/+5As I recall, UB40 was the name of an unemployment benefits form.
- Lunarbunny, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4Wanna lol?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nebKYFxXrLY - inactive, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4That song makes my ears bleed.
- inactive, on 10/12/2008, -1/+5Nostalgic for 80s and 90s?, you mean the eras that allowed Michael Bolton and Kenny G to flourish. Kingmanic is spot on, people only remember the good ***** and forget how much crap their respective generations put out. I'm 23 and people always said how bad the music was when I was a teen, now people my age are saying how bad the music is that teens listen to now, and those teens are going to get older and say how bad the music is of people younger than them.
- omnithought, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4Yes, the couple of minutes attention we gave this article means it completely consumes us. That's the ticket. Shut up.
- baysidecomedy, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4Soulja Boi wasnt the only person who killed hip-hop, it was the auto tuner that took it down in the end.
- Solstice, on 10/12/2008, -1/+5Kriss Kross will make you jump, jump!
- omnithought, on 10/12/2008, -1/+5Your band sucks.
