- uptown, on 10/12/2007, -4/+74they could have at least moved him a little closer to the police....
- leontes, on 10/12/2007, -12/+67I think it's lame that they are labeled.
- wildfire, on 10/12/2007, -4/+29@tonicboy
There's (3) bushels of roses and (11) guns on the cart.
@commonsence21
It's a bag of M&M's. (Another weak one) - glowfood, on 10/12/2007, -1/+202004 anyone?
- turpenine, on 10/12/2007, -6/+23this is as old as the internet, the origional was unlabeled.
- Jowitz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15It was, about 1-2 years ago.
- jaynedoe, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15this is kind of silly
- mywhitenoise, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16Jet sucks ass.
- Superthug, on 10/12/2007, -7/+19I laughed out loud at the Green Day one.
- tonicboy, on 10/12/2007, -5/+16That's pretty neat, but I don't get 311, on the flower cart. Also, The Carpenters is a little weak.
- quomen, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13dugg for the queen holding the phallic gun (sex pistols)
- dsander, on 10/12/2007, -3/+133 vases with 11 guns? I dunno....
- AceTracer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11You guys realize that Eminem's name stems from his real name, Marshall Mathers (M & M) right? So as "weak" as you may think it is, it's how he thought of the name in the first place.
- Thrashtastic27, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11First thing that popped into my head: "Old. Old old old old old old old."
I won't bury it, but this ain't digg-able. - thehuskerfan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10http://bp0.blogger.com/_ab-8bAStzLc/RXpRPAE8III/AAAAAAAAAAw/q-ilcxSBxR4/s1600-h/virgindigital1280x960.jpg
Hi-Res photo, w/o names... have fun naming them! - mikeman10001, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13"50 centS"
That means... he has been cloned. - gardenia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9@built2spill,
jowitz is right...Virgin Digital did use an unlabeled version of this picture as a contest a little over a year ago. It didn't work quite like the M&Ms game though, as it didn't give answers as you typed them in or anything.
Original image link: http://pub.virgindigital.com/content/Images/GB/W/S/M1603/COMPENTRYUK/compimage.jpg , not sure that it works. - built2spill, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11It would be more fun if it was a game and you have to guess the artists. Sort of like this:

Here, I removed the labels for you: http://tinypic.com/hs5gtd.jpg - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Not what I expected at all.. and when you said "not what you would expect" I was thinking painters instead of music...
http://www.4pron.org/general/b/res/1047.html mirror if needed in future.. - FacesMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Aha, I'm an idiot.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7That's not ironic at all. Alanis Morisette shouldn't troll Digg just because she's not featured in the picture.
- howdareyou, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@joeknife
Are you high? drunk? or just dumb? - gregmo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5yea i remember seeing this a long time ago even before I was on digg. And it was on digg before I:
http://www.digg.com/music/74_bands_in_this_picture (i suppose not labeled, but it's better without) - m3mn0n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The hell do you mean weak?
What else do you expect to represent "The Doors" or "P!nk" or "The Eagles" or any other one?
It's all about subtle & obvious representation... - kriminalintent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The beach boys should be "The butthole surfers"
- gk128, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Dinosaur Jr. is one of the best 90s Alt-Rock/Alt-Country bands.
J. Mascis is one of the best guitarists ever. - mixpix405, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I personally think that music is a form of art - therefore, you can call a musician an artist... Painting is NOT a form of making music... so you wouldn't call them musicians. You sound like my dad in an argument.
You are partly correct in my view, however, because I don't see 50 Cent as an "artist" because I highly doubt he has anything to do with "making" his music - aside from singing the lyrics. So I would not call him an "artist" either.
On the other hand - the vast majority of (good) musicians ARE making ART... so they ARE artists. - KlayBorg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Its a virgin promotion ad, The Beatles are produced by EMI.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I think you mean "over-stayed their welcome", but OK.
- VorpalSpir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Usaf.Boeing_B-52.jpg
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3FacesMan, Guns 'n Roses IS one of the bands being portrayed.
- Karmalary, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Look closely. "Alice in Chains" is really "Miss Piggy in Chains"
- VorpalSpir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, but that's the problem with this image. Does the visual represent the Manic Street Preachers or The Cult? That is why it would have been nice if Virgin had released an official answers list.
- clickwir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Read the comments! The labels were added long after the original pic.
- Narwaffle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3very insightful.
- vaxguru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yay for The Roots! =D
- mywhitenoise, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4...is a ***** nu metal band that has overwelcomed their stay for 10 years!
- aaronm67, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3...and yet they include 50 Cent and Pink? Barenaked Ladies are a hell of a lot better then half the bands on that picture.
- SelfAbortion, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I saw this without the answers about a year ago and solved about 50 of them. Pretty cool to see the ones I missed!
- ndurkes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Read above....
- Jelfish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The Gish and Siamese Dream CD covers credit the band as "Smashing Pumpkins," but everything else after that, I believe, (including Vieuphoria) credit them as "The Smashing Pumpkins," which leads me to believe that they meant the word "Smashing" to mean "great" or "awesome" since the beginning. Or, perhaps they changed it to be a play on words as people started to refer to them as just "the pumpkins."
- mikesbaker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@jcblitz
you didn't remove anything. that is the original pic - spinchange, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"The notes I handle are no better than many pianists. But the pauses between the notes -ah, that is where the art resides."
-Artur Schnabel, Austrian pianist and composer - ShBm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Nit-pick much?
- howdareyou, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That's actually a different image. Notice the Pet Shop Boys in the first image. It looks like it was cropped presumably to for a wallpaper.
- Brewin1100, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The annoying thing about that online contest was that the image was put into a really crappy flash interface... It not only did an artificial zoom that made things blurry when embiggened, but it also cut off some of the image at the far left.
- sup34dog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Pixies and Eels made it worth the digg.
