- chicken101, on 10/12/2007, -2/+43Why the ***** are the spice girls listed before Pink Floyd?
Why the ***** are the spice girls even on there? I don't even care if they changed music for the worse, I still wouldn't give them the recognition for it. - Splizxer, on 10/12/2007, -4/+38@imightbewrong
I think your username explains it all. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+29I like how Spice Girls placed higher than Jimi Hendrix - Are You Expierenced?
That makes sense.... - cyberscape2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16...in a distressing, claw-your-eyes-out sort of way.
- feanor512, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14> And Nirvana was a punk band, not a metal band.
They were neither. - D4r7h3v1l, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12i cant beleive *insert indie band* wasnt on the list!!!! they r sooooo awesum! way better than *insert mainstream bands* cuz they didnt sell out.
Check out there myspace: http://myspace.com/*insert clever word play* - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13I was expecting Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon to be at *least* in the top 10!
- AVandelay, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12They were grunge.
- imightbewrong, on 10/12/2007, -8/+19where's Radiohead's OK Computer????
- honestmonkey, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15What gets me is that they mention "Without this there'd be no" and then go on to name a bunch of stuff I've never heard of. Lists can be good. Lists can be bad. This one is just dumb. And useless.
- subscribtion, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree with the majority of this list.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13Define:Classic
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=define%3Aclassic&btnG=Google+Search
Why listen to crap when I can have the Classics? Everyone has their own opinions so don't go bashing mine. - Lemon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9You're an idiot to deny the importance of the Beach Boys in popular music.
Just because you don't like something don't deny it's historical significance. - unknamed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I'm gonna have to go ahead and agree with your disagreeing ...........
The Spice Girls even being on the list invailidates the whole damn thing let alone them being ahead of people like James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Black Sabbath..... pretty much everyone listed after them.
Speaking of Black Sabbath.... 34??? A band that spawned a whole new genre of music listed below the halfway mark? Something funky about that list for sure. - kilodelta, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10its still unique in 2006.
- AVandelay, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9No Pixies?
- spectre_25gt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I get sick of wondering when I'm going to be interrupted by having to click "next" to get to the rest of the article. Granted it's not a big deal, but it certainly does interrupt the article and it's nice to be able to read one without dealing with that.
- nesagwa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Parliament and Funkadelic are missing while the Strokes are on there.
When the UK makes lists they usually suck. - dhuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7they have 'the bends.'
which is pretty ***** dumb. 'ok computer' certainly was a better (and more influential) album, maybe even 'kid a' was more so. - kriminalintent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6The Dark Side of the Moon 29th? think it should be a little higher up.
- Flyngwalrus, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10I hate lists.
- chicken101, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10I'll have to agree with you on that one. OK Computer was very unique in 1997.
- elroy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7all of you are *****, every single one.
- geekee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6No Bob Marley or Led Zeppelin?
- Vokas, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8I'll respect your opinion as soon as you stop trying to shove it down my throat.
- hmmm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The Spice Girls didn't influence because of their music, but their concept brought back the whole process of manufacturing groups. Without them, there wouldn't be All Saints, Pussycat Dolls, S club 7, etc. Yes, they're all pretty crap, but you can't deny the mark Spice Girls left in pop culture. And now we're still paying for their "success" by having shows like American Idol and endless supply of new boy/girl bands. So yeah, I would say that they did change music (negatively of course).
- metsfansam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I'm digging #4, 18, 40
- imightbewrong, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6why it was a pain scrolling through one huge list
- spectre_25gt, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Dugg for no page breaks. Oh, and good list.
- Llan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Which is a good thing exactly how?
- pointblank187, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Hmm... This list is pretty screwed if you ask me. No Tupac, and I personally would think Eminem would be a pretty drastic change in music or if you want to go earlier to some degree the Beastie Boys. White rappers weren't a "mainstream" acceptance before them. The Spice Girls? OK...Why not just say ***** it and throw Vanilla Ice in there. I think Hendrix should be a little higher too but w/e.
- dohidied, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4You guys need to remember that this list is about albums that changed music, not best albums. There were some albums that they didn't even seem to like, but they changed music. Do I love NIN and Tool? Yes. Do I really think they've changed music? Not really.
- narjun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4spice girls more influential than pink floyd? This list is an absolute joke. If you posess an ounce of taste you won't digg this.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I don't really understand how the Spice girls influenced music
not yet anyways
everyone they inspired were little girls, and they in thier teen years now.
thier not really creating music either
just a thought - JoeyDeacon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I didn't see an Abba album in there either. Without Abba there would have been no Nick Keshaw and without Kershaw no Bros and without Bros no Boyzone and without Boyzone I think we will all agree there is no music.
- UndercoverCow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Im surprised Michael Jackson was so low on the list, and where is Bob Marley?
Tupac wasn't the first to do his thing, NWA was around way before... - tolbs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Agree 100%. You look at a good deal of "influenced by" pages for rock artists in the 90s and 00s and you'll see a good amount of them that were influenced by the Pixies.
- btboudreaux, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Wow.... I stopped looking when I saw Black Sabbaths....
Spinal Tap isn't even a real band. And Nirvana was a punk band, not a metal band. No digg.
How about without Black Sabbath there would be no metal or stoner rock. Period. - kriminalintent, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Anyone that says The Spice Girls changed music more then Pink Floyd, i think i would call them retarded to there face.
- ccourt23, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3NWA was the reason you had a Tupac
- bradx3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea changed music for me. Does that count?
Actually, the first 20 on that list are pretty much classics. Some of the later ones I'm not so sure about. - Haplo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3No Pixies, yet they put Nirvana on that list. Pixies: without: No Nirvana :-)
- MrCrushington, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Weren't the Melvins the band that inspired all the major grunge players, and shouldn't they then get the nod over NIrvana, who merely aped their influence?
- Thumper13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3If you can't spell it correctly, then it doesn't get to go on the list.
- ObiusX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The Wailers are on there.
- Harbinger67, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3From the [revoltingly low ranked] Floyd blurb:
"Without this ... there'd be no Thom Yorke solo mumblings, and much less prog rock (if only ...)."
Not digging just for that comment. Prog rock is incredible, and requires more talent than 90% of other music genres. - mortem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3No Led Zeppelin?? this guy doesn't even know what music is.
Spice Girls, WTF ???? - kacymartin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2if not PHM then The Downward Spiral
- IvanB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Nirvana wasnt even that good, the only reson they like him because he died."
And here's a man that has no idea what he's talking about - Inverno, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2With out a doubt. That album popularized Industrial. There'd be no Mason, no Orgy, I'd wager Massive Attack and the rest of Bristol owes something to Reznor.. Pretty Hate Machine is in the cd case of just about every musician I know.
