- solidus636, on 04/11/2008, -4/+94I thought it was gonna be a V for Vendetta remake before I read the description. That would've been a disaster...
- DigKitty, on 04/11/2008, -0/+43Eep!
This mini-series scared the bejeesus out of me when I was a kid. - inactive, on 04/11/2008, -9/+38When Dick Cheney heard about the remake, he demanded they cast him as an alien who eats live mice. He noted "No stunt double, either. I want all the fun."
- inactive, on 04/11/2008, -1/+29My question is: Will it have Robert Englund?
- solesoul, on 04/11/2008, -1/+28I'm looking forward to this. Look at what happened to Battlestar Galactica
- studdenfadden, on 04/11/2008, -0/+25***** = Scientologists ***** = ATMs
- americangoy, on 04/11/2008, -1/+25oh i remember this series!
they came on earth to help us.... but then we discovered that they were really ******* and wanted humans as ******** - pak314, on 04/11/2008, -1/+24I bet a good portion of the digg people were not even born when that show was around.
- WiseWeasel, on 04/11/2008, -1/+19No way they're going to be able to capture the cheesy goodness of the original miniseries. Still, it's a great story, and I look forward to seeing what they do with it. They better still have the freak baby...
- Asianwaste, on 04/11/2008, -0/+15You'd have to ask Alan Moore first... but he's busy writing newer and greater things... like fairy tale pornography between Wendy and Tinker Bell... and the funny thing is some people will think I'm joking.
- travis1982, on 04/11/2008, -4/+19really? I F'n loved that movie...I was all horny for a sequel.
- devilbody, on 04/11/2008, -0/+13http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GccknBnFfTk&fmt=18 - That theme and the alien baby episode jump-started my nightmares as a child.
- tjex, on 04/11/2008, -1/+13Same.. I STILL remember the rat scene.
- SpectreFire, on 04/11/2008, -2/+13What's with Hollywood lately and taking ***** from the past and remaking them into new *****?
- LoveWidescreen, on 04/11/2008, -0/+10Battlestar Galactica came from the late 1970s, not 1980s. The only BG series that came from the 1980s NEVER EXISTED! Do you hear me? The BG from the 1980s NEVER EXISTED!
*REAL* BG fans will know exactly what I mean. :) - Dumbledorito, on 04/11/2008, -1/+9I loved V as a kid: The theme music, Diana unhinging her jaw, the whole thing.
But now, one of the key premises doesn't make sense: The water. Why pump water out of a gravity well when you could have just gathered ice from the rings of Saturn or some other low or zero-grav place?
Or did they explain that away at some point? It's been a while since I saw the original miniseries... - jizzlies, on 04/11/2008, -0/+8will she eat the rat? that scene freaked me out,
- bemenaker, on 04/11/2008, -0/+8How can you shorten this into a movie, you will lose so much. This was a great series, and I would love to see a modern remake, but a movie? Let's chop 80% of the story out and wonder why it fails.
- veloscaper, on 04/11/2008, -1/+9have you tasted Saturn ring water? Taste like *****. Mountain spring or pure glacial water is worth the trip to Earth. Thus the V premise makes total sense.
- bitterbug, on 04/11/2008, -0/+8Actually that premise will still make sense. One of the plot mechanisms was that Scientists were vilified for questioning the motives of the Visitors. Picking apart claims like that would be obvious to the technical minded, but not so much to the blissfully ignorant masses who are just happy the aliens look like us and have cool sunglasses.
So now the scientists can say "Taking water from Earth is stupid. They must be here for something else!" - Durrok, on 04/11/2008, -0/+7What do you mean "lately"? Where have you been for the last decade?
- Asianwaste, on 04/11/2008, -1/+8PEOPLE!!!! SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE!!!
- aaaleman, on 04/11/2008, -0/+7Dude the alien baby birth gave me nightmares for years.
- YodaJones, on 04/11/2008, -1/+7Not a single new idea in farkin television land.
- bemenaker, on 04/11/2008, -0/+6Two conditions, one, lack of creativity, and most importantly, being run by accountants, who only green light projects based on mathematical risk assesments. "How much return will I get, and at what probability" Same things applies to the RIAA.
- bitterbug, on 04/11/2008, -0/+6Alien Nation. :P
- SkippyDoorknob, on 04/11/2008, -0/+5And Marc Singer and Michael Ironside?
- Kr4t05, on 04/11/2008, -1/+6I dugg you not for the political satire, but because it was just damn funny.
- bitterbug, on 04/11/2008, -0/+5Wasn't it amazing how real the effect was in your memory, only to see it again now and realize they just froze a frame and stretched her mouth. I saw it and couldn't believe how poorly done it was.
And you're right. I'm pretty sure it was a guinea pig too. - ericdano, on 04/11/2008, -0/+5Chances that it will be like Battlestar are slim. Look at all the Hollywood remakes..........the only good remake to come out HAS BEEN Battlestar.
- quarkie, on 04/11/2008, -1/+6well duh....thats because its not a remake, it's a "reimaging".
- SkippyDoorknob, on 04/11/2008, -0/+5Are you referring to Galactica 198#@zz43f*YHFHE hdf 2893h p8S fs.df.df..g. h89*&*#*$(*& ...
NO CARRIER - SkippyDoorknob, on 04/11/2008, -0/+4Well maybe not the full plot, but the giant ships hovering over city scenes at least.
- SpaceMonkeyZero, on 04/11/2008, -0/+4Every movie is just a rehash of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. Even so-called romantic comedies.
- otbeverly, on 04/11/2008, -0/+4":Knight Rider," "The A-Team" and "V" (though a miniseries) will always be joined at the hip due to their occurrence at a certain in my life ... and the fact they all occurred around the same time (or so I remember). "Manimal" would have made this list if it'd made it more than one season (and by that I mean one make-or-break episode that would determine whether I would watch the show again or not ... as was the case , apparently, with me and many others -- "Manimal did not make the first cut."
- solidus636, on 04/11/2008, -1/+5It says REMAKE...lol. I would love a sequel too!
- crapuccino, on 04/11/2008, -0/+4Barbara: "I'm Barbara"
Donovan: "Sure don't look like an iguana" - purzzzell, on 04/11/2008, -0/+4all the good ideas have been used up, there are none left in the world
- MsArtGeek, on 04/11/2008, -0/+4Too bad nobody cared about Firefly when it was on...
- desuexmachina, on 04/11/2008, -1/+5Well, I always thought it was more to do with both water (I wonder if Europan water would be salty) and tasty humans being in the same place. Admittedly when you can cruise the galaxy who cares how close food and water are. Earth = 7-11 I suppose.
- eclectro, on 04/11/2008, -1/+5Actually, I found the lizard-lady strangely compelling. You must have not been a teenager yet.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 04/11/2008, -0/+4Get off my lawn!
- troy1of2, on 04/11/2008, -1/+5What do you mean "for the last decade"? Where have you been for the last three decades?
- titansix, on 04/11/2008, -0/+4I remember watching this when I was about five years old. Remember the scene where the baby is born and it looks normal -- until it sticks out it's snake tongue? I was so freaked out, so I went upstairs and was looking at my baby sister in the crib all suspicious like. Meanwhile, my father went downstairs, rolled a banana peel in his mouth, came up to kiss me good night and instead unleashed the banana peel like a snake's tongue. Holy mother of God, I almost died.
My dad is awesome. And responsible for most of my therapy. - bosssmiley, on 04/11/2008, -1/+5Yeah, but he's Allen (DR & Quinch, Watchmen, V for Vendetta, From Hell, LXG, Tom Strong...) Moore; he could probably make Peter Pan slashpic ground-breaking and innovative.
- tryferos, on 04/11/2008, -0/+4The mini series was dark and freaky for the time, if they made a movie with that same approach it might have a chance...
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 04/11/2008, -0/+4***** = Hungry ***** = Food?
***** = Constipated ***** = Laxatives? - MadN, on 04/11/2008, -3/+7The American version:
Remember, Remember to vote in November; of September's treasonous plot.
I see no reason why neocon treason should ever be forgot. - EbowUK, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3What about Streethawk ffs???
- Shogi, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3Look what happened to Bionic Woman, and Knight Rider..........
