- Dracos, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22I wish someone other than Michael Bay (or Jerry Bruckheimer) were directing this. A Transformers movie has so much potential if put in the right hands. I fear this will instead be little more than b+ CG and crappy voice acting intercut with a 90 minute explosion.
- halleyscomet, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21Well, Megatron now has a beard and a turban.
And Starscream transforms into a camel instead of a jet.
Then there are the "Explode-acons" They pop out of a larger transformer, run towards the enemy and blow up. Sort of sentient bombs.
But I don't see how any of that can be considered "political." - bennyboy371, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15He could build a BETTER transformer with a paperclip, surgical tubing, and a fingernail clippers!
- e03179, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17Autobots, transform and roll out!
- Petrarch1603, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13Transformers the movie?! The only thing that would be better would be a MacGyver feature movie!
- Trekkie101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9"Bay claims they have done lots of work on the script since then and that the only shooting script is kept on Bay’s personal computer (a trick Spielberg taught the director)."
Good luck with that....hopefully its not a stupid as it sounds and they do have a backup somewhere - qqcourt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Being an active member at the Don Murphy (producer's) board here is some insight as to what this film entails:
-Prime has a removable faceplate
-Bumblebee is a 1970's Camaro who cannot talk, but communicates with Sam (Spike) through song selection on the radio.
-Transformers arrive on Earth via a comet as Nano-tech spider type things... and some eventually are put into an iPod and Xbox by Earth scientists.. which then grow legs...just plain sad...
-Spike's girlfriend kicks the head off of Soundwave twice (the deadly force of girl-power).
-111 minute or so movie breaks down with 70% human story, 30% Transformers (that's approx. 1 episode worth of TF air time)
-Only 5 autobots, only 5 decepticons... no more, no less
-They spend the whole movie looking for magic glasses.. no joke.
-Megatron (who is all black now) appears only at the end
-Prime and megatron are possibly brothers?!?
-Exclusive GM deal... so no chance of a VW Bumblebee. Also, you can bet that GM does not want their vehicles to be used as "the bad guys" (Megatron is also an alien jet)
--and the list goes on and on. This is not the Transformers people are posting about above me (1980's movie). If you do not believe me go to seibertron.com, or tformers.com, or the Don Murphy Board... all of these lame things I stated above are true so far (2-3 leaked script drafts).
So Sad... - devindotcom, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Amen buddy. Frankly, the idea that the ACTUAL Transformers Move could be outdone is utter hubris. I love that movie and I don't want to see any real people in it, much less a goddamn love story or some such nonsense.
- openedsource, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6The real question is: is Dolph Lungdren in it?
- foshaug, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Yeah! I have been waiting years for this movie.
Can still remember I cried when optimus prime died.
Sob... - b0nb0n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5You can also check out: http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=23105
much more interesting info.
Can't wait for this movie! - LordSpam, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5If any or all of what you say is true then I say we don't wait for filming to finish, we string up Michael Bay right alongside Brett Ratner for killing our inner children. It's bad enough that Xmen: The Last Straw killed the series, but now it seems Bay is determined to kill this series before it even starts.
- johnnyOnline, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5What was the last thing Michael Bay made, The Island? I thought that was pretty good.. better than I was expecting actually. If it's at least as good as that, I'll be pleased.
But should he make another Pearl Harbour style love story with explosions.. I'll be writting a letter, a very cranky letter.. to someone, I'll work out exactly who later..
Somebody has entrusted this man with my some of my dearest childhood memories... i just hope he realises that! - cameron074, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5choke on your words, frenchie.
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4"Prime Directive"? OK, giant seniant robots meeting humans and waging a war on Earth is *totally* breaking the Prime Directive...
Whoops, wrong series. - electromagnetic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Why is the military involved? From my childhood memories the transformers were fighting each other not trying to destroy humanity... Or am I missing the US military's 100 foot fighting robots - I must have missed the news that night.
- po6ot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"Prime has a removable faceplate" This sounds like the Judge Dread film when Sylvester Stallone demanded that they remove the helmet. I bet it's so they can have a CGI face of the celebrity actor who is doing the voice for Prime. Crap.
"Bumblebee is a Camaro" This wouldn't be such a problem if a yellow VW Beetle wasn't such a distinctive, unforgettable car. They might as well not include Bumblebee.
"Transformers inside iPods" This film had better be set in the '80s when people had portable radios with tape players because I can't quite see Soundwave being an iPod. Crap.
Anyway, why is the military so strongly involved? If I remember correctly the Decepticons pretty much all turned into aggresive military hardware. American F-15 Fighter jets (Starscream and his gang) Tanks and so on. Megatron was a gun. while the Autobots were mostly all civilian vehicles. Unless it's to help the make accurate 3d models for the Decepticons. - btipling, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4As a child I loved transformers and used to stay up at night reading the comic books when I was supposed to be sleeping. They put this movie in the hands of the wrong people, my childhood memory betrayed. Nothing is sacred anymore. :(
- halleyscomet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3They brought him back in the series...
Several times. - Paroparo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Is it going to be equally propaganda-ridden and history altering as the other two? I suppose it's hard to keep up the record with a fictional theme, but the release date does seem to indicate they'll at least try.
- hoofpijn, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Wow, that was close. We almost made it to 50 comments on a digg story before someone worked out a way to bash the US.
Thank god for you sir (or lady). - jinexile, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3All we need now is for hollywood to produce a G.I. Joe where Joe joins the peace corps and with the help of a friendly ninja they save the rainforest from being stripped down by giving the Cobra Commander, played by Vince Vaughn, a bouqette of flowers to complete the rapeage of our childhood memories.
- KicktheDonkey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"I heard they hired Berman (Of ST fame) as a script doctor..."
Heaven help us, now... That man couldn't put two words together from inside a dictionary. - KamikazeeDriver, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@devindotcom
Oh god, don't tell me they forced a love story in the transformer movie!?!?! WTF Hollywood, quit destroying childhood memories. I feel if anyone of us see's one of those bassards, give them a punch in the face, and walk away. - VeganG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2YOU GOT THE TOUCH.......
YOU GOT THE POWERRRRRRRRRRRRR
YEAH! - cma3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"The movie has the largest military cooperation of any movie since Pearl Harbor and Black Hawk Down."
This should read: " Bay states “this is the largest military cooperation since Pearl Harbor and Black Hawk Down”.
When a director pumps his product this way, look out.
Furthermore, I doubt this statement is a fact especially when you think about what would be the actual involvement of the military in a movie like this in comparison to movies that are are based in actual military involvement, like PH and BHD, where accuracy plays into the plot and the historical details.
What would be the involvement of the military in a movie like this? Remember, many of us, myself included, grew up with the Transformers. I cant imagine that the military's involvement is providing secret technology for the, say, the missle technology or better yet...the transformation process.
I think I'll wait for the official word and the actual trailer...on that note...no digg. - megashaun, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Am I the only one who laughed at "Grade-A Bang Bang"?
- SweetsGreen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I hear Marky Mark is singing on the soundtrack.
- jinexile, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The only reason the island was half decent was because it ripped the script off an indie movie from the 80s (Clonus) and put a hottie like Scarlett in it.
- SageofLightning, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The military is involed because they are borrowing tanks(Megatron), F-18s (Starcream,Dirge,Thundercracker), Jeeps (Hound), and one of those fance new marcoss things(Jetfire) oh wait nevermind on that last one.
- TylerDurden0, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Only if Shipwreck is part of the crew. That dude always concerned me...
- DephexTwin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The movie was in 1986, so that is when Optimus Prime died.
- TylerDurden0, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yeah the Japanese really attacked from the West, just like in the movie. I think Ben Affleck really is a loser, too.
- Synoptic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Wow,...that article link was much better than the title story.
- antdude, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1http://www.darkhorizons.com/news06/060530g.php
- TylerDurden0, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It's not 118 in NM.
- drw2583, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Right, going to the theater would require you actually leave your house, and we all know what will happen to your albino complexion if that were to happen...
- vtwin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Decepticons will be referred as "the axis of evil" during most of the movie.
- khansen87, on 02/18/2009, -0/+0Movie Trailers
http://www.movietrailerspot.com - adolfojp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yeah, the Island, great movie.
It was the movie that took the plot from Clonus, added Hollywood style explosions and chase scenes and bombarded the audience with constant obtrusive and unnecessary product placement.
The saddest part is that when the remakes for TXH and Logan's run come out many people will say that they are ripping off The Island. - gwjc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1There's supposed to be one! http://digg.com/movies/Where_is_the_bloody_MacGyver_movie_already_
- vtwin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1But he's a robot! He cannot die?

- truezoltar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Well hi all,i was under the understanding that the movie was going to follow more closely the books!I have a few of them, and they are pretty good. Some of the things are a little...off,but i will reserve judgment of the movie till i at least see a preview.
As far as the exploding bots, and terrorist stuff...that's funny as hell!
As far as the love story factor...well xmen and spider man did it just fine. Why not transformers..albeit not a fav idea imo,but it could work and draw in others that would otherwise miss the boat!
Of course...it could end up like daredevil the movie, which i really liked, but i know plenty of people that were ruined by the idea of elektra and daredevil love hate saga...
Yet another way it could go bad is bad like in dungeons and dragons movies...again i really like them(but I'm a fan that's hard to scare away) but i know plenty who don't.The love stories are a BIG problem...and political correctness is also a problem. - Ruqsaq, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Michael Bay... does this mean the movie is going to have annoyingly unrelavent slow motion shots ALL throughout the movie?
Next time you watch a Bay film count the slow motion shots... its lame. - qqcourt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0As for the questionable leaked scripts. There was one leaked about 8 months ago, and one leaked 4 months ago (and possibly a third newer one too). Both drafts have essentially the same problems, so if they have not changed them in those two drafts, you can assume that the working copy has a lot of the same problems. If you do not believe me there is footage of Speilberg introducing the film ~1 year ago, and there is some test animation in there with a yellow sports car (Bumblebee) being chased on a highway by a helicopter (Vortex???). Sounds like the scripts that's "outdated" from 4 months ago to me.
So Sad... - shogunu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0In Michael Bay's defense he did directed "The Rock" back in 96, which is a (half-)decent movie.
- halleyscomet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I heard they hired Berman (Of ST fame) as a script doctor...
- PeoplesHero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Here is some info on cast, including agent Pierce from 24.
