- CaptainNoPants, on 05/20/2009, -0/+147Harold, it's Bateman, Patrick Bateman. You're my lawyer so I think you should know: I've killed a lot of people. Some girls in the apartment uptown uh, some homeless people maybe 5 or 10 um an NYU girl I met in Central Park. I killed Paul Allen with an axe in the face, his body is dissolving in a bathtub in Hell's Kitchen. So, if you get back tomorrow, I may show up at Harry's Bar, so you know, keep your eyes open.

- shadowspawn, on 05/20/2009, -1/+30I agree with @thondar.
Bad for not including http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0238380/ Equilibrium. Never made the mental click; I had no idea who he was until that movie, and his acting was great because I never noticed him in any other movie until watching it, thinking it was a Matrix rip-off from the trailers. Boy was I surprised.
The flick is like a very dark Brazil, Gothica-like atmosphere that mated with Dark City, that had a part of 1984 injected in it for a background ramp-up. A genre of the "establishment" vs the "enforcers" vs the "rebels", and the character doesn't realize what part he plays till he kills his partner.... and sees his son as a reflection of who he really is.
The desk scene, where he's arranging things really hit home and to me was the crux of the movie's plot. To me it was art. His excuse? Maximum efficiency. Science vs. art, all in a 15 second scene that everything previous built up to.
His acting in that movie really was great. I guess since he showed no emotion it's kept out of the loop of his best, because once you watch that, you see that he doesn't really show too much emotion at all in any of his movies. He's active, he's physical and expresses himself through his motions, not *e*motions.
But that was him purely acting without any emotions (the point of the movie). Out of all his films, I gotta say that was his best. - drGt1987, on 05/20/2009, -0/+25That was one of the best of his movies and maybe most important...
I liked that movie as same as I liked The Matrix and maybe even more than that - jc7012, on 05/20/2009, -1/+24EXTRACT AN EXCERPT
- WaCkYmAk, on 05/20/2009, -1/+22I live in the American Gardens Building on W. 81st Street on the 11th floor. My name is Patrick Bateman. I'm 27 years old. I believe in taking care of myself and a balanced diet and rigorous exercise routine. In the morning if my face is a little puffy I'll put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches. I can do 1000 now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.
- Greengoo, on 05/20/2009, -0/+21Through analysis of thousands of recorded gunfights, the Cleric has determined that the geometric distribution of antagonists in any gun battle is a statistically-predictable element. The Gun Kata treats the gun as a total weapon, each fluid position representing a maximum kill zone, inflicting maximum damage on the maximum number of opponents, while keeping the defender clear of the statistically-traditional trajectories of return fire. By the rote mastery of this art, your firing efficiency will rise by no less than 120%. The difference of a 63% increased lethal proficiency makes the master of the Gun Katas an adversary not to be taken lightly.
- MOJIRA, on 05/20/2009, -5/+24Equilibrium is a B movie.

After Equilibrium everyone knew he was going to hit it big. - shakabrah, on 05/20/2009, -4/+18So you're not done romantically? Kris, are you asking Christian Bale out?
- alandil, on 05/20/2009, -0/+14"Do you like Huew Lewis and the News? Their early work was a bit too new wave for my taste, but when Sports came out in '83 I think they really came out of their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear crisp sound and a new sheen of constant professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynacil sense of humor. In '87 Huey released this, Fore, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is Hip to be Square, a song so catchy most probably people don't listen to the lyrics, but they should, because its not just about the pleasures of conformity and the importance of friends, it's also a personal statement about the band its self."
