- ActiveMatx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+51I dont think anyone can replace arnold in the terminator...
sure the movie will go on, but without arnold, it will be like Dumb & Dumber 2 without Jim Carrey. - thewebguy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+30Terminator 4 Details Revealed: It will be the worst one yet!
- elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24There's really not all that much information in this article other than 'Arnold probably won't be back for more than a cameo'
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+30The Rock? Better not.
- cyanid3, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23If they're replacing all the actors in a movie, I guess it would be hard to "experience" T4, as in after the first three movies.
Arnold HAS to be in the movie to give it the "Terminator" feel. The Rock? I don't know. Orlando Bloom? WTF?! - Murphious, on 10/12/2007, -4/+25One and two were both classics in my opinion. Three seemed to go against the entire message of number two and it was, in general, very cheesy. I'm all for another if it can follow in the footsteps of the first two films (and not the third).
As for actor choices? I think that the dude from Batman Begins (Christian Bale was it?) could pull it off. He was cold, buff and in general pretty awesome.. - Saint3k, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21Christian Bale as John Conner? I love this idea.
- MOJIRA, on 05/17/2008, -8/+25Terminator = Great
Terminator 2 = Fantastic/Best
Terminator 3 = Steaming Pile
Terminator 4 = Raping the dead horse
Same with Jurrasic park, except 1 was the best, 2 was okay but redundant, 3 was a big peice a crap though entertaining I suppose, and 4 might be promising since Speilberg is directing again.
T4 should be about how the cyborgs sent the T1000 back in time to infiltrate Caleefornya's government and to slowly rot the insides of america until they take control. Bush is actually T2000 (beta!), now with tags! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+21Terminator 3 was a decent movie. Its biggest failure was the fact that it didn't have any exhilarating moments that the previous two films are known for. The closest thing to a "spectacle" in T3 was the fantastic car chase sequence in the first 30 minutes of the movie (it made the one in Matrix Reloaded look like a CG crapfest), but since the scene took place so early in the film, most people don't really remember it that much.
The problem, as best as I can describe it, was that there was no real "climax" to the film. They break into the office building where SkyNet is being built and then... NOTHING HAPPENS! There were a few brief little shoot-outs in the corridors, Arnold fights T-X in the bathroom, and that's the end of the climax. This was such a let-down, compared to the spectacle of T2's climax (both in Cyberdyne, and at the factory).
However, having said that, it's kind of still difficult to say that the movie was bad. The storyline was solid, the acting was good, the direction and cinematography (while uninspired and kind of bland-looking) were acceptable. It just didn't have that "WOW" factor that James Cameron established in the previous film.
Anyway, since some of the best scenes of T1 and T2 were the scenes taking place in the future, an entire big-budget movie based in that universe actually sounds pretty damn cool to me. If they do it right (and put some 'WOW' back into the franchise), I'll pay to see it. - kent1146, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18I liked all 3 Terminators, because I like the lore of Terminator. Yes, Terminator 3 was nowhere as good as 1 or 2, but that last scene where nuclear missiles were going off were awesome in my mind.
If T4 is going to take place during the war, they should have Ridley Scott direct. Who better to shoot a film about a lot of stuff blowing up? - yensed, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16Am I the only one who finds it odd that the Terminator weighs like 2+ tons, yet can drive any motorcycle, drive any crappy car and even a Winnebago? XP
- cyberghost232, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Just dont give this film to Michael Bay. Please not Michael Bay.
- bigfkncee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Kevin Spacey?????!!!!! Are you insane?
- cfuse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8T3 was good because it took the hopeful message of T2 and crushed it under the jackboot of determinism - so much for 'No fate but what we make', the war happens anyway.
T4 should be entirely set in the future and cover the skynet death camps, the human resistance and all the different iterations of terminators and HKs. The plots might be getting worse with each film, but at least the effects and action scenes are getting bigger - more lasers! more explosions! - Obsidian743, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Big Terminator fan, but the legacy dies when Arnold is not longer the Terminator. I'll watch it, but I'll forever feel betrayed! James Cameron should come back and do this. That's largely why the 3rd one wasn't that good. I always thought that The Rock would be a good choice as an evil Terminator against Arnold but never to replace him.
- lcarsdeveloper, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11T3 was good when I saw it, but I was only watching it like an action movie. Generally that means the plot gets thrown out to make way for explosions, chases and gunfights. But I may have been disappointed if I watched T1 and T2 first.
The very idea of there being a T4 is just ridiculous IMHO. These studios need to hire WRITERS!
Snakes on a Boat - 2008 - cfuse, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9The average American weighs two tons and they don't crush their motorcycles. Have another burger and drive.
- kyriakos, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7its pity to use Hugo Weaving.. an actor who can really do well on dialogue's or better say monologues to play a robot that might say a couple of lines over the whole movie.
- cyanid3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6They had to complete the story. I personally hate sequels, and I know that they generally kill the legacy of the older, first movie. But leaving the movie where it left off at the end of T3 was kinda incomplete.
Besides, they had shown the human resistance in the first film itself. It would be a sin not to complete what they started off with. - jeffreym, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7One choice and only one choice for the new Terminator:
MICHAEL CLARKE DUNCAN
(Armageddon) - noxcel, on 10/12/2007, -6/+12"Terminator 3 stars Claire Danes and Nick Stahl are not expected to return for the fourth film."
YES!!!! Both of them killed the movie for me. - KissTheRing, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I hope they really get James Cameron back to the Terminator franchise
- mr.hostility, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9The Rock...wonderful. It'll be like Doom all over again.
- cfuse, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Why not run with the idea from the first Terminator and cast a bodybuilder - they don't have to act that much (the irony is that the Terminator is the only movie that Arnie actually acts *well* in) they just have to look huge and scary, which, if you've seen any of the current competitive bodybuilders, is just about all of them, including the women.
My vote goes to Mariusz Pudzianowski, to continue the trend of huge, non english speaking background, non-actors for the role of a terminator (why have just one or two?).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mariusz_Pudzianowski - Chongo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3If they are going to end it, it should take place in the post apoc. future.
Show the humans finally win and it's all over. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The big problems with T3 were that it didn't really have a substantial plot. It relied only on big explosions and physical improbabilities.
The car chase scene isn't that impressive when you take into account the number of continuity errors in it. The special effects budget was high, but they rushed it and did it carelessly. It's a little bit hard to assume that Arnold's sunglasses kept getting smashed and repairing themselves, or that the super magnet that can stop a terminator wouldn't have ripped the zippers and buttons off of that backpack John Conner was carrying.
The ending of T3 was also pretty lame. First, the point of the movie was some kind of argument that we can't change our fates, contradicting T2's ending. Not to mention all the hurdles they had to overcome in delaying the apocalypse and writing off Sarah Connor's death.
Furthermore, the first two movies were successful because they had time travelers interacting with modern times. A good formula, given other movies like Back to the Future, Star Trek IV, etc. Since they've already nuked the planet at the end of T3, they can't really continue on after that without breaking this formula. At best we've got robots going from the future to the future--or worse, staying where they are. I have to say Babylon 5 did well with that, but they weren't too commercially successful. Can't really think of any other literature that has pulled it off.
The only way I see T4 being good is if they end up undoing the events of T3. But most likely it'll be some futuristic war movie along the lines of such masterpieces as Starship Troopers. And with none of the original cast, apparently not even any of the T3 cast, we're doomed. (One redeeming possibilty, can we bring Michael Biehn back as an older John Conner?) - charmhaste, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The only way T4 will be amazing
make it both
the SEQUEL to T3
AND
the PREQUEL to "The Matrix"
beautiful it will be - airship, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Dear Hollywood,
Please let this franchise die.
Thank you.
PS Please don't make any more lame-ass movies based on old TV shows that sucked to begin with. - Geers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If a 4th one is done I would like to see it be about Kyle, John's dad. Maybe the last scene of the movie be where he goes back in time.
- mlkmnz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Sad thing is, they could go somewhere very cool with the Terminator franchise and make a really good film, but the reality is Hollywood will make it the biggest load of ***** since Alien 4.
- mooninite, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5I love how 10 year olds dream about characters with big name actors playing them.
No, just no. None of those guys will play the Terminator. It will most likely be someone you've never heard of before. - marillion, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Perhaps James Cameron ... But I can respect that he wouldn't want to come back a franchise
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'd like to see them adapt the comic strip "Robocop vs. Terminator," which was very good, and hopefully do a much better job than they did with the "Alien vs. Predator" movie.
- DollaDollaBill, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3You would have to give this back to James Cameron, it was his baby forever and the only one who could have done it justice. The third movie was horrible and this one will be too. They just can't let a franchise die without sucking every last drop of blood.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think a better storyline for Terminator 4 would be that maybe the Terminator could go back in time and make sure Terminator 4 will never be made!
- spectre_25gt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Blasphemy. Claire Daines can do no wrong!
- diggmaddy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1perfect recepie to be an ugly thorn in the sweet memories of both great movie triologies. (even though the third in both of those sucked)
- loganrapp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Arnold's involvement will be dependent on the Governor's election. If he's not elected, he may have a larger role, but if he does stay as Governor, no chance.
- staticneuron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Am I the only one here who would like to see next gen terminator models duke it out?
- MOJIRA, on 05/17/2008, -5/+6Christian Bale as John Conner is a brilliant casting choice. He might have made T3 a little better, but the problem was the crappy script.
Bale is one of my favorite actors, but even he couldn't make me enjoy Equilibrium... the poor man (who doesn't know how to read and enjoys stupid concepts like Gun Kata)'s 1984. - Lemon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, there's a lot of ***** useless people in here.
In ALL the flashback scenes the Terminators are completely mechanical ( http://www.solarnavigator.net/images/terminator_robot.jpg ), the flesh was wrapped around them for the purpose of transporting through time. So the 'Arnold' terminator would only perhaps make an appearance as they send him off to the past.
Then there's the T-1000 onwards which appear in human form. Which they have already established as being of a "regular" height and build.
Michael Clarke Duncan as a terminator? The Rock? Can you really see Skynet thinking "The best way to infiltrate the human ranks is by sending in someone 7 feet tall and built like their mythical 'pro wrestlers'. They'll never suspect a thing!"
The story in a post-apoc scenario would be pretty interesting if it was written well. Why do I get the feeling we're just gonna end up with Matrix Revolutions though. - digmc, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4The Rock! Oh god noooooo. How about John Cena?
- JCEFalconi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1 What made Terminator TERMINATOR, was James Cameron, pure and simple. Any stonefaced strongman could pull off the T-1000.
I'd always wanted the idea of time travel to be explored more in the movies, it would be cool if all those trips through time had ***** up the galaxy in such a way that it's destroying itself and now a terminator is sent from the very distant future (maybe an alien terminator?) to destroy Earth before the first time travel in order to save the universe. Earth's army allied with SKynet's Army VS Alien Terminator! Terminator 4: Paradox.
I'm so sorry - rstr1212, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Shaquille O'neal as T5000
- theapbt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Moviehole reported in late 2004, that James Cameron was interested in coming back to the series as either a writer or producer. We have seen no evidence to support this claim however."
If James Cameron isn't coming back, the movie is worthless. T3 was crap, because if the originator didn't want to be a part of it (ala the Batman movies), then it's just another movie. - omnithought, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@ bigfkncee
Yes, I am a tad insane. ...and? ;) - 3leggedHorse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Total lazier ridden carnage might make for a good no brainer.
- cyanid3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hah! That gave me a chuckle :D
- mandarin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1How about all out terminator war, without the terminatrix? I could never really buy into a supermodel looking woman in leather pants running around with a lazer beam...
- mandarin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1oh Clair Danes and that other guy sucked too.
