- PenileCommander, on 05/15/2009, -3/+92What does a trekkie say when he goes to the movies?
One, please. - lorem1000, on 05/15/2009, -2/+80The movie was 1979, not 1966.
- pathouston22, on 05/15/2009, -1/+76Generations sucks? No. 6.4 imdb rating agrees. Not fantastic, but not sucktacular.

- jander86, on 05/15/2009, -1/+43It is tricky, if only there were big red arrows...
- inactive, on 05/15/2009, -1/+40Like a boss.
- gozeera, on 05/15/2009, -9/+38This thing is pretty freakin' retarded
- ColPow11, on 05/15/2009, -10/+36Awesometacular! Nice flow chart, for sure.
- g33kfu, on 05/15/2009, -0/+22Generations and The Voyage Home are the only ST movies my wife likes.
I think they appeal to the non-trekkies more because you don't need to know any of the back stories. Yes, First Contact kicked ass, but having to sit next to my wife and explain why Picard has such deep hatred for the Borg, why he had to go back to save Data, why they had to pick up Worf from the Defiant, made me realize how non-sequitur the movie must have been for someone unfamiliar with the TV show. - guytoronto, on 05/15/2009, -3/+25Red Matter - only a drop will do - why carry around so much?
Red Matter - capable of creating a black hole when ignited - why does it need to be dropped into the core of the planet?
Big Laser Drill - why does it need to be lowered on a big long chain?
Big Laser Drill - Spock severs the chain with his little ship - why didn't anybody else do this earlier in the movie?
Black Hole - formed in the middle of the Romulan ship - why is everyone still running around on the ship? Why is the Enterprise sticking around to fire phasers at a ship about to consume itself?
Promotions - since when does a smart-ass cadet get promoted to Captain in a heartbeat? No military works like that.
Spock - how is he able to see Vulcan implode upon itself in the day sky? If he was that close, the rock he's standing on should have been sucked in as well
Spock's Rock - why is there a little Federation outpost on a small planet/moon that close to Vulcan? If it's scientific, should there not be a team of Vulcan scientists there? If it's a way-station, why isn't it on Vulcan itself?
Transporter - Boosting range from 40,000 km stationary to 1-billion km at warp speed via a simple math algorithm? They didn't even need to invert the phase of anything!
Kobayashi Maru - Kirk defeating the test is something of legend. Rigging the computer with a cheat code is NOT something of legend.
Beaming Into The Enemy Ship - who do you take? All the red-shirt security guards you can? Fully armed tactical team? Nope. Kirk and Spock only.
Stay At your Posts - how many times did people jump up, abandon their post, to run around the Enterprise? Is there no discipline in the 23rd century?
Blah blah blah. Basement nerd. Blah blah blah. Comic book convention. Blah blah blah. Doesn't make me wrong. - spritom, on 05/15/2009, -0/+20GQ rocked! Even while watching the new ST:09 movie ...*****near-spoiler****....I'm thinking of the scene from GQ:
Gwen DeMarco: What is this thing? I mean, it serves no useful purpose for there to be a bunch of chompy, crushy things in the middle of a hallway. No, I mean we shouldn't have to do this, it makes no logical sense, why is it here?
Jason Nesmith: 'Cause it's on the television show.
Gwen DeMarco: Well forget it! I'm not doing it! This episode was badly written! - pathouston22, on 05/15/2009, -4/+23Uhh, considering the rating is the opinion of thousands of people, its probably a good source to get the general feeling towards a movie.
- xXMetalJesusXx, on 05/15/2009, -1/+19I'm starting to think I was the only one to like Generations. I was bitched out by a pack of pale trekkies, who smelled of BO and Axe deodorant spray, for liking it on opening night in one of the ridiculously long lines. (PS...that ***** doesn't cover the smell if you don't shower...god damn I'm just thankful I didn't get stuck sitting near them)
- BedPost, on 05/15/2009, -2/+20I thought The Phantom Menace was pretty good myself.
- MarshalBanana, on 05/16/2009, -0/+18Yeah but you still only had to buy one ticket right?
- xXMetalJesusXx, on 05/15/2009, -2/+20The time traveling plot was completely necessary. Without it, the writers would have needed to stick to the original lore (for lack of a better term). Now that history has been changed, they can make a whole new series of movies about Kirk's crew. And they won't be stuck remaking/destroying the classics like Wrath of KHAAANNNN!!!
- BossKey, on 05/15/2009, -0/+17Where the criterion "Was the Enterprise destroyed? Y/N"
- hammelman, on 05/15/2009, -0/+16Oh Snap!
- jennybeth, on 05/15/2009, -0/+15I liked Generations, but it's probably because of nostalgia. First Star Trek movie I watched.
- OnBetamax, on 05/15/2009, -0/+14im pretty sure that was meant to be about data acting retarded. He goes nuts at the beginning of insurrection so i guess thats the retarded bit, and in nemesis there are two andriods; data and b4.
- Hellahulla, on 05/15/2009, -1/+14Well doesn't that happen in most of them? At least more than half.
It's a good thing the Federation has no monetary system any more, the number of ships they seem to go through. - guytoronto, on 05/15/2009, -6/+19Plot holes galore? -> Yes -> Star Trek 2009
- kaosethema, on 05/16/2009, -0/+12EFFIN OUCH!!!
- bossgalaga, on 05/15/2009, -2/+14Nemesis was both kickass and retarded? I don't remember, I fell asleep in the middle of it.
- inactive, on 05/16/2009, -1/+12IS YOUR ARTICLE A CHART?
YES: Front page
NO: 30 diggs then buried forever. - vodkataime, on 05/16/2009, -0/+11KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!
- zimboob, on 05/15/2009, -1/+11Generations wasn't that bad, it had Malcolm McDowell at least. Nemesis sucked way more imo. Where is the Motion Picture as well?
- Defiant001, on 05/15/2009, -3/+13I liked Nemesis a lot actually, I like all the star trek movies actually even the very first one (I was not too impressed with the latest one though). I understand why some people dislike one movie over another but I find them all equally entertaining and often just picking a random one to watch. They all have qualities which make them unique and fun to watch in their own way.
- fadetoone, on 05/15/2009, -0/+9I liked it... but then again I've liked them all... even if they've come across as extra long episodes (Insurrection).
- Defiant001, on 05/15/2009, -0/+9Long answer, nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
- krues8dr, on 05/15/2009, -1/+9Flow charts generally need a "No" for every "Yes" (or "Awesometacular", I guess). Otherwise it's just a line.
- Miche1987, on 05/15/2009, -1/+9*facepalm*
- snached, on 05/15/2009, -4/+12Short answer, no.
- GregMote, on 05/15/2009, -0/+8You know this is not twitter, right?
- inactive, on 05/15/2009, -2/+10According to the data flow, TOS episodes sucked. Now if it weren't for the TOS, we wouldn't have this flow charts. Hence the flowchart sucks.
- hobonetweaver, on 05/15/2009, -4/+12***** you all, Generations is among the best of the ST movies. Kirk AND Picard, an evil villain bent on destroying a planet to fulfill his selfish pleasures, and a stellar space-time anomaly (a beautiful one at that).
Watch it again. You are mistaken. - spritom, on 05/15/2009, -0/+7ST6 lost a little bit in the translation; it's much better when you watch it in the original Klingon.
- marmotjmarmot, on 05/15/2009, -1/+8Wasn't the worst...but any movie where the Shat dies...TWICE!(kinda) is great in my book.
- Defiant001, on 05/15/2009, -0/+7I tend to lean more to your side, I just went a few days ago to watch Star Trek in theaters. JJ seemed to miss the point of how star trek (and how the "universe" works for it) works completely, and your right about the time travel thing, it was really used so everything could be changed, just because, not to add to the storyline..
The graphics were very good though (Am I the only one who found the battle scenes to go WAYY too fast, I couldn't see what was happening it felt like the camera was moving around at warp 9.9 and zoomed in way to far, I hate how more movies do this, stop zooming in so close and moving so fast) and yes Uhura was a nice distraction too.
There are many unexplained elements there also for "just because" reasons, they are not explained like they normally work be in a trek movie, just passed of as "how it is"..
I dunno, I'm to get the blu-ray and watch it a few more times to see if I can understand if it changed for the better. - alphaterminus, on 05/15/2009, -0/+7The motion picture would be: "People wearing Three's Company pajamas and the most boring ***** movie you've ever seen" --->yes--->The Motion Picture.
- jennybeth, on 05/15/2009, -0/+7I disagree. Although I think the time travel was a good attempt at ret-conning the series without disturbing the continuity, I would have preferred a straight 'this is a new Star Trek universe'. It worked for the Batman movies, and is used constantly in comics, and it seems to work out.
I can only hope they don't try to remake Wrath of Khan. They have changed the universe enough that they should be able to create new villians/situations to put the crew through. - Evari, on 05/15/2009, -1/+8I think there's an even longer list of plot holes for Nemesis
- willhzar, on 05/15/2009, -0/+7I will drink to that!
- jennybeth, on 05/15/2009, -1/+7I thought it was had an average plot, but the characters really made the movie good for me. I think the only character I didn't like was Chris Pines as Kirk, but I think that's more to do with the script than anything.
*Spoiler Warning*
However, the thing that really bothered me was the fact that Spock marooned Kirk on that planet (especially since it was only a plot device to get him there). Very un-Spock like. - hardcrocodile, on 05/15/2009, -0/+6look around—can you fashion some sort of rudimentary lathe?
actually, my dad worked for dreamworks at the time, and I went to a test screening before the effects were finished. i remember one of the questions they asked was whether or not it was appropriate to show sigourney weaver's bra. - BaphClass, on 05/15/2009, -0/+6I lol'd
