- Vesci, on 05/02/2008, -2/+45They mention a few crappy movies that aren't even supposed to be Blockbuster's and they neglect a little film called "Indiana Jones" and "Iron Man". What a joke of an article.
- magneteye, on 05/02/2008, -3/+41So, blockbusters kill blockbusters? I don't get it.The Dark Knight is a friggin' "blockbuster"!
- pveltrent, on 05/02/2008, -8/+31Damn It. I thought this article was going to be about Blockbuster going out of business. Netflix!!! FTW!
- CrimsonBlur, on 05/02/2008, -0/+18This article makes no sense. I think what they are trying to say is, Blockbusters are getting smarter and directors are being given more creative freedom for big-budget summer movies.
I think after decades of dumbed-down action movies Hollywood is finally waking up the the fact that they'll actually make more money with better quality movies with slightly smaller budgets rather than spending $300 million on a single Blockbuster aimed at the lowest common denominator. I'm not saying it doesn't still happen, but it's far less frequent.
The Blockbuster will never be dead. There will always be cash cows like Will Smith (who I really like, actually) who like to make big summer movies and are guaranteed to bring in the cash. Every few years someone declares the big Blockbuster is dead, and then Will Smith or someone like him pulls in half a billion on a $100-$200 million picture. - majordannyboy, on 05/02/2008, -0/+16huh...??? did you even read the intro?? They aren't talking about Blockbuster the store! RTFAA!!
- Beatmiser, on 05/02/2008, -0/+13I'm burying this thread. Between the idiots who want to yell first and those who can't even manage to read the teaser intro. Seriously is it helmet and mittens day on Digg?
- ausfahrt, on 05/02/2008, -1/+11RTFI at least
- GeekyGerge, on 05/02/2008, -1/+8What about his second *****?
- inactive, on 05/03/2008, -1/+8HOLY *****!
The firsters discovered digg!! This is the end. - Snakedal337, on 05/02/2008, -2/+8The morons are out in droves it seems.
- OllyHagen, on 05/02/2008, -4/+10your second *****!
- Kohaxx, on 05/02/2008, -4/+9With Fred Durst directing movies, UWE Boll finally has some competition for the "Worst thing to happen to the film industry" Oscar.
- thrallie, on 05/02/2008, -1/+6The best idea DC Comics ever had was making a batman movie that is dark and violent. The batman comics were never meant to be on screen with "POWS" and "ZAAAM", it was meant to be a dark story. The graphic novel where batman goes after child molesters was especially dark, and it would be interesting to see a film based on that. However I doubt it would be made, it doesn't fit the superhero mold.

- majordannyboy, on 05/02/2008, -2/+6READ THE ***** ARTICLE!!
- Koskun, on 05/02/2008, -0/+3If they had the balls, and money, they would do Kingdom Come.
- Koskun, on 05/02/2008, -0/+3This is quite true, I just wish it would spread to television. I am just sick of the garbage that the networks call "reality television".
Rich folks learning to dance with private instructors, taking a bunch of whiney ass people and making believe they are stranded on an island, or locked in a house. It's all a bunch of crap. - AManWithNoName, on 05/03/2008, -1/+3They've been declaring that "blockbuster movies will die this year" for ages now. And every single time, it turns out false.
- diggerphelps, on 05/03/2008, -0/+2"Shyamalan masterminded the left-field summer smash The Sixth Sense back in 1999, and has spent the decade since making audiences feel bitter about the time and money they've wasted on his movies."
If you only read one line in that whole piece, THIS is that line.

- HastyBoom, on 05/02/2008, -0/+2You realize that was a line written FOR him to say right?
- antdude, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1Subscription sucks. :P

- MercFox1, on 05/03/2008, -1/+2This article seemed pretty sure of something that is less than an exact science. Good movies will always do well at the box-office; there aren't many experiences like going to the opening night of a highly-anticipated film (see the next Harry Potter, etc).
And am I the only person who liked "The Mummy Returns"? - regeya, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1Someday, they might be right. A stopped clock is right twice a day, you know. Those who keep shouting it will seem prescient when it comes true someday.
- SemiSarcastic, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1FIR...Awww dammit!
- Zippo, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1I dunno... Iron Man was ***** awesome.
- drafhk, on 05/03/2008, -1/+2I haven't read the Batman comics, but that sounds a lot like Sin City.
- robthom, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1God love the onion. Too bad it aint true!
- ComeOutSwingin, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1Is it just me or is everyone saying 'droves' these day?
- harrison5394, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1Gotta love those internet memes,,,
- HastyBoom, on 05/02/2008, -1/+2?
- Kohaxx, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1Damn, so they notice Iron Man and then neglect to discuss it. What a pointless article.
- renemartini, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1Finally Circuit City where they scammed so many people during Black Friday with "Black Friday lost items but will be on waiting list" So many people where fighting in the store about horrible management. Also I never see any specials that NewEgg, Amazon etc. cant beat.
- Vesci, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1In the opening paragraph it says "why the blockbuster-season films coming up in May and June might finally help kill off the blockbuster concept."
Iron Man - May 2nd, Indy, May 22 - Hoogs, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1?
- KMartSheriff, on 05/03/2008, -1/+2That would suck. Blockbuster Online kicks ass. I prefer it over Netflix mainly because you get 2 free movie/game rental coupons a month to use in the store, which is good for last minute dates and whatnot. Got nothing against Netflix though.
- TYDZN, on 05/02/2008, -1/+2The Dark Knight comes out on July 18th, not the 11th. I should know, I get to see Batman take on the Joker on my B-Day :)
- Shorties, on 05/02/2008, -1/+2Well that ***** sucks, I like Circuit City considering its the only electronics store in my city, Compusa is gone and the closest Best Buy is an hour away. And yes Circuit city did tend to rip people off but you cant deny their sunday circulars had some killer deals. (I remember I got Halo 2 PC and Shadowrun for the PC for a total of like 40 bucks, and this is when they were selling for 50 a piece).
- baggedhemi22, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1Barrie this ***** before I go and whip out my shovel.
- Charun, on 05/03/2008, -1/+1Mine was sarcastic, in an attempt to point out how stupid godseyeview's comment was. I thought that was obvious enough that it didn't need a sarcasm tag.
- Hoogs, on 05/02/2008, -5/+5Both of you, shut up. Now.
- Supurcell, on 05/02/2008, -1/+1Yeah. I don't know what killing a blockbuster means. A blockbuster is any movie that is so popular that the line goes around the block. So are we only going to have unpopular movies now? I don't think so.
- GBRob08, on 05/02/2008, -1/+1True
- highlyhigh, on 05/03/2008, -2/+2I think Titanic was the movie that killed blockbuster- or should i say 'sunk it'. never there was a movie before it that had made as much money or received as much praise for being the over-the-top cookie cutter cheeseball that Titanic was. And every blockbuster that came after that stuck to being just as cheesy and mainstream. Or if it wasn't Titanic, it was truckload of junk like Titanic that destroyed the concept of 'worthy movie' for sure. Bigwigs don't wanna think that people just might wanna see something innovative once in a while. they don't want to gamble away all the budget in something original that has less than a certain chance of success. Thats why we get to see same mega budget crap every time and thats why movie industry is finally *****.
- brahimbb17, on 08/18/2008, -0/+0If you didn't like 'Crystal Skulls' because it wasn't 'Indy' enough, then you wouldn't have like this either. You know why no movie will ever measure up to the originals? Because it's 20 years later and you're a different person
http://3olome.blogspot.com/ - Blandyman, on 05/03/2008, -1/+1Isn't imacbook the fag who always talks about doing stuff on a Mac because he has a boner for Apple?
I hate you anyway, but your comment is ridiculously stupid. - inactive, on 05/03/2008, -1/+1If someone actually thinks the DARK KNIGHT will flop, then anyone can safely assume they're MORONS.
