- hella81, on 10/11/2007, -1/+37Casting Nic Cage in an Untouchables prequel is the worst idea since someone decided to make an Untouchables prequel.
- Dyasa, on 10/11/2007, -10/+36He isn't a terrible actor, he just seems misplaced in some of the movies he has been in, like Ghost Rider.
- AmusedToDeath, on 10/11/2007, -2/+18This will be the worst Nicolas Cage film since the last Nicolas Cage film.
- rcran, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15Ya, He played the same guy in his last three movies...
- PsychoticClown, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15Not even DeNiro was totally believable as Capone, you think Nick Cage can? Bad move. First he almost ruined Superman when it was announced he'd star in it, and now this. What happened? He used to have great picks in the late 90's (8mm, Con Air, The Rock, etc.), now his picks are just weird.
- goblindegook, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11Actually, Nicolas Cage is Italian-American. His real name is Nicholas Coppola.
- guywhodoesstuff, on 10/11/2007, -7/+18I love Nicholas Cage, but I don't see him as a mob boss....
- kilroy0097, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11Ok Nicholas Cage can only play one character which is himself. I have yet to see him play anything else but himself. Which is ok for some movies but for period films or anything that requires serious character impersonations a serious draw back. Unless he suddenly gains some acting ability outside playing himself, he is going to be horrible in this film. Hollywood in general has really gone down hill.
- madfusion15, on 10/11/2007, -3/+13cage is mediocre at best
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10I couldn't really see him as a country boy in a prison with nasty long hair, either, but... I did anyway.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -16/+25But Nicolas Cage is terrible...
unlike De Niro. - orientis, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8I've got heaps of ideas. The world just isn't ready for Zombie Goat Bukkake.
- DigTheDoug, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7"I want him dead! His family dead! His friends dead! Put the bunny down!"
- pjisback, on 10/11/2007, -4/+10Nick Cage's career is really going down the drain.
- NikoKun, on 10/11/2007, -5/+10Nicolas Cage is one of those actor's that doesn't fit the part, the part has to fit him.
He's a great actor and a lot of fun to see, but he just has a style that the character in the movie has to match. I've hardly ever seen him change his acting personality, for hardly any part... XD I will say Cage is a great actor for action comedies, he's very entertaining to watch. - chownrus, on 10/11/2007, -5/+9Raising Arizona.
The rest of his movies were utter crap. - fuzzmeister, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4The Untouchables stands alone perfectly, I see absolutely no reason to make a sequel or a prequel.
- laserblazer, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3In his brightest hour, some day, he may catch a glimpse of mediocrity. He will throw rocks and bones at it and caper about madly.
- allthewhile, on 10/11/2007, -3/+6Weather Man was great!
- macaca, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Few of the good movies by Nic Cage:
Birdy
Moon Struck
Adaptation
Raising Arizona
Leaving Las Vegas
He is very good on romantic character roles. But tough and mean guy role as Al Capone, please, I dont see him. And nobody can top Bobby De Niro as Al Capone. - psg188, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5Nicholas Cage isn't terrible, look at "The Rock," "Gone in 60 Seconds," and "Lord of War"... and these are just his (though not recent), MOST recent flicks (that were good anyways)..
some of his new stuff is crap though, NEXT was just ***** awful, its really a gamble when you cast him, he'll turn out like "The Rock", or like "Next".... we'll just have to wait and see - Smeed, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Joe Pesci would have worked much better!
- ericdano, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Hollywood, out of ideas since 1987 at least.........
Are new stories truly that hard to think up? - dougbarrett, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Obviously you guys have never seen "Grindhouse"
Nick Cage had one of the most memorable parts in the show.
You give Cage a great director, you get a great performance. It's as simple as that. - Bucket, on 03/18/2009, -0/+1Haha. Saw this as a related digg for the 10 Worst Nic Cage Movies article. Looks like this one got canned. 2008 release? Nope. imdb says 2010. I say 20never...
- Dayyve, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Be prepared for the worst rendition of Al Capone ever. I mean, ever. I'm sitting here doing an Al Capone impersonation while I'm typing this and I bet it is better than Nicholas Cage could do with ol' Al as his personal acting trainer. Cage can only play skittish, frantic, neurotic characters. Don't believe me? Check out his list of flicks and you'll see why this could possibly be the worst casting job ever: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000115/
By the way I do like the guy, Raising Arizona is one of my all time favs. - Armor1901, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1No one has mentioned Matchstick Men - he delivered a GREAT and very funny performance in that movie. It's one of my favorites.
- krakkinem, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Talk about bad casting. *I* would make a more convincing Capone, and I'm not Italian and I can't act!
- mkmega, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Watching Nick Cage act is like staring at a wooden fence during a wind storm, seriously.
- damndj, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2I don't know why Nic Cage keeps getting work. I mean, seriously. Could the guy be any worse? He has been in two good movies in his entire life and only one of them was made good by his acting (Leaving Las Vegas).
Having Nic Cage starring in your film is a ticket to the bargin DVD bin within 2 weeks of release. - grat2001, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2The only movie I liked him in was the Matrix...Oh wait, he wasn't in the Matrix. Another great reason to love that movie!
- seansshack, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Well give him chance. He is an actor after all and this may be a challenge for him, rather than brain dead stuff like ghost rider
- airship, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I like Nick Cage, but he's totally wrong for Capone. Capone was built big and solid, with a tough-guy attitude. Cage is lean and lanky and comes off like the guy next door. Not a good match.
- dominiccarr, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1He doesn't have the emotional gravitas needed to play a mobster IMO.
- smoothlou, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Posted this in a duplicate of this one, but it still bears mentioning:
Checked IMDB, and Robert De Niro was about 43-44 when he played an older Al Capone (b. 1943, movie came out in 1987). Nic Cage, on the other hand, born in 1964, would be playing a young Al Capone at 44-45 by the time this actually shoots? Hmm... - martin993, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I really like The Untouchables but it's not such a classic that a new film would be completely ridiculous (like, for example, a new Taxi Driver). The style of that movie was excellent though so I'm happy to see De Palma going back (even though he kind of already did with The Black Dahlia).
On the other hand, Nic Cage is an incredibly dull and predictable actor. - smek2, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Dear god, no! Hollywood, isn't there a cinematic crime you won't commit? Seriously, a prequel for The Untouchables? Starring Nic Cage?
- knulpm, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I'll see this movie only if it explains why Sean Connery's "Irish" cop had a Scottish accent.
- ariez84, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Ugh. The only reason why they call it "untouchable prequel" is to have the name attached to it. This movie has nothing to do with the original movie.
- laserblazer, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Haha so true. The way he pitches and tilts himself is just like that.
- seansshack, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Not a bad actor just does some good work and some crap work. But keeps making movies...
- marcomc2, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1i love nic cage but this seems like hes gonna seem ridiculous...like fu manchu.
hopefully he does good job of course, but he seems too silly - robojerk, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2@NikoKun
I agree with that statement 100%. He and Sandra Bullock both have that problem. - satori3000, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1He should go back and make Valley Girl 2 instead.
- bioskope, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1obviously you should have watched "Kiss of Death" then. The movie sucked donkey balls, sure. But Cage was the only thing in it. Of course to spoil everything we had David Caruso mouthing all the ***** lines like he does in CSI, but this time around only without the action of putting on the glasses (the horror!)
Edit. Sorry Heynow beat me to it and I always thought when someone ever mentions this, it would a ploy on that someones part to get more diggs. So this really does happen huh? - Ngai, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2maybe he just needs money like we all do...
- edwatts, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Yeah, he's an actor...just like Tiny Tim was a singer.
- edwatts, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0A to A-.
- Teinfu, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1"The Rock" best movie ever!!
Ok maybe not ever but that movies awsome! - Comatoast, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Cage's acting range runs the gamut of emotions from A to B.
